"I went with a group for a birthday. It was the worst service any of us had ever experienced. Our waiter only took a couple of drink orders and then left for more than 20 minutes before we checked in to take the rest of the table order. For the food we had to tell him that we had to order. Then he took 4 orders, went away and didn't come back. When we got him to come back after telling several other workers we needed to complete the order, he forgot that he had taken the first orders. He finally took a few more orders and went, again not to every person at the table. It took 2 hours in total and the food came out at all different times. We were all honestly very confused about what was happening throughout our dinner."

"The drinks were mixed well and reasonably priced. The loaded potato skins appetizers were okay, but not particularly flavorful. The rib eye steak dinner and country fried steak dinners were well prepared and flavorful. The Atlantic salmon was a bit overcooked and dry and the carrots in the roasted vegetables were undercooked. The portion size of the salmon was generous, though. The Salmon Oscar was also a bit overcooked and had no more than a tablespoon of flavorless crab meat on top...for an additional cost of more than the Atlantic salmon plate. The Mother Lode cake for a birthday celebration was stars and an extremely generous serving size! Thank you CJ for that perk!! Our server, Alexia, was attentive, intuitive to our needs and timing and very pleasant to interact with."

"This review will be broken into three parts. This happened on Sunday, April 30th. 630 pm. Had a company dinner. 25 guest. Atmosphere. Upon entering was greeted promptly. The restaurant was nice and clean and well organized. Medium size crowd. Food. I can only give an opinion on some food since the size of the table is to many. I had a bowl of clam chowder. This was some of the weakest chowder I've had. The based was runny not a thick chowder quality. Few clams and for the price not at worth it. I put this chowder in par with something out of a can.Very disappointed. I had the 21oz bone in ribeye from the prime steak menu with sauteed mushrooms and onions. Price $74. The side was onion rings. Once I got the meal it came on a sizzling cast iron plate. I first noticed that's amount of butter was more then expected. There was the chard marks but no crunch of a crust. The reason was to much butter. First bite. Then meat was tender but the garlic butter was overpowering. It completely over took any type of seasoning or crust. Disappointed. I compared this steak to the one at Morton's that I had last month. Same steak and price. Sorry but Morton's was 10 times better. I could actually taste the seasoning and had a crust. The onion rings were nothing great but was not bad. Had the chocolate cake 3 layers.. excellent. A co worker had the sea bass. I asked if he would recommend it. It said no at all. Not very well done. Other coworkers said their meals were good and some said some of the items were not. The lobster Mac and cheese were underwhelming from two people. Overall feeling was they don't see themselves coming back anytime soon. Service. Sorry not sure who's fault this is, but for 25 guest we had one server. Orders got messed up, meals were missing and I could see the frustration on her and was told she was rude to a few coworkers..one being our manager. I would think with that's big of a group..yes we had called one week before to reserve a table, they would of made sure at least 2 servers to keep things organized. My recommendation is- if your looking for a steak house quality type of steak..go to one that is well known. Here is a nice family meal that's good but not great for the price. If you do go don't go with a large group based on our service.."

"kellner was friendly, but eating was not so ordered, once delivered to the table (from other employees, not our waiter.) kitchen staff and waitstaff could benefit from double control orders before they are delivered to tables. when we started problems, the manager was more than generous and pulled 2 items out of our bill. 1) wedged salat was given without tweeping and blue cheese dressing on the side, but came with many tweepers, ranch dressing on the salat and no side of the blue cheese dressing. 2) wings order with blue cheese dressing, but only with ranch dressing arrived 3) fish and chips that were served with koleslaw on the menus but not included 4) children do not eat problems"

"I had the ham dinner with mash potatoes and stuffing. I asked our waiter if it should have gravy, he said yes and ran away to get some. We ordered our dinner at 5:50 pm and got our food at 6:57 pm. We would have left if not for our waiter. My wife had Salmon that was dry, and it came with white rice (which was cold), I asked her if she wanted to send it back and she said what and wait another hour for the food , she did not eat her dinner and instead took it home and will fix (heat) it up this week-end. Sorry to say but we will not be going back."

"It has been years since I visited a claim jumper. This review is for the one at south coast plaza. I remember loving their 6 layer chocolate cake that they are famous for and was happy to see it's still on the menu. We had a large group of 11 and were seated outside quickly. If you are going in warmer weather definitely sit outside. Our waiter was so kind and attentive. Wanted to make sure everything was good. The portions are huge so unless you are starving better to share a plate. Got the fish tacos and I recommend the brussel sprouts side dish, so good! Also pretzel bites for a starter with a group is a good choice. Kids got lobster Mac and cheese and they loved it. Lots of good options that don't have meat."

"We went for lunch. I ordered the Impossible Burger and Stephen had the Memphis Chicken Sandwich. I chose mashed potatoes and he got Matchstick Fries for our sides. The burger and sandwich were good, but not any better than going to similar menu restaurants. My side had one mistake in my opinion, they brought out my burger with an enormous ball of mashed potatoes. They were hot but dry. I asked for a side of gravy to make them more like the mashed potatoes we all know and love. They were fine and gravy was not added on to the bill as an extra charge. The chicken sandwich had a sauce that gave a pretty good punch of heat if you like hot and spicy. For dessert, we ordered the chocolate fudge cake. It was six layers and topped with walnuts. The frosting was a little too sweet for my liking and overwhelmed the cake. So I ended up taking it home and eating the cake with vanilla ice cream (missed opportunity for cross sell). It was much better and cut that sharp sweet flavor. This would be a good sharable for a table of 4. Overall a good experience, but a little spendy for Lunch. So I probably wont be back because the high end pricing doesn't fit my budget.."

"It wasn't very busy when we got there but then got very busy. Our server was fantastic, very accommodating and even though new, attentive and found answers to any of our questions.Unfortunately we weren't real impressed with the food. The clam chowder was salty. The salmon Oscar was good as was the assorted vegetables except for the asparagus. We don't know what they did but it was tough and overcooked. The Mac and cheese was lukewarm. The lobster claws BLT had very little lobster. I asked for it disassembled but instead of lettuce tomato I got coleslaw, the bacon was undercooked, the parmesan cheese bread was very good but I didn't care for the shoestring fries.We got dessert to go, carrot cake and chocolate mother lode cake. They were both pretty good but homemade is better.It was an interesting experience but the food for the price just didn't do much for us.Unfortunately, our server forgot our discount of $10 for joining the rewards program."

"I haven't been to Claim Jumper in a long time. We visited the restaurant for dinner after a day of fun at a nearby really fun place . I was hoping to end the night on a good note with a delicious meal. We arrived at about 9:15 and was seated at around 9:30. My kids enjoyed their food, which is why this place received a 4 star score from me. Otherwise, it would have been a 3. I ordered fish and chips, my wife ordered buffalo wings and the rest of the family ordered assorted macaroni dishes, a pasta dish, a gluten free burger and a side of clam chowder. Off the bat I have to say my fish and chips was overly salty, to the point where it overpowered the taste of the fish. My wife's Buffalo wings were a bit bland and the clam chowder we received was also salty. My boys macaroni was well portioned and tasted good compared to the adult's dishes. We also had pasta and that tasted good. Our server Nick was great and the restaurant had a nice atmosphere. Overall since this was actually our kids day and they enjoyed their meal I would say it was a good dinner even though I didn't enjoy my meal as much as they enjoyed theirs. Would we go again? Maybe for the kids... but I'm sure any adult would agree going to a restaurant to eat macaroni kind of defeats the purpose of eating out"

"Had a nice early dinner here when unexpectedly found ourselves in La Mesa. Craving a good ol salad, meat, potato and veggie meal. Significant other and I had the pick combo and the ribs, chicken and tri tip options we chose were very good, came out hot and not overcooked. Good roasted veggies and giant baked potato. Added a small green salad that was simple, but well chilled and good vinaigrette. Added a slice of carrot cake that was also very good. We'll enjoy our leftovers tonight And gotta mention our server, Ricardo M who was great. He was basically a one man show when we got there. Bartender, taking orders and serving. Very quick, accurate and efficient and made a tasty happy hour margarita too! Thanks Ricardo. Will return if ever in that area and hungry."

"Very disappointing...we used to enjoy Claim Jumper at another location, but didn't realize the huge difference between this one in Avondale and the one in north Phoenix. The waiter was friendly, was incompetent. Instead of checking on us, we had to wave him down to get his attention each time we needed help to correct the order. Both of us had to send our food back twice and the waiter also brought us DIET Coke two times instead of regular. Don't get the Beef Tips...they were fatty and under cooked. Just a very disappointing overall experience"

"I first went to a Claim Jumper in Southern California. Food was great and even became a rewards member. When I moved to Las Vegas, I used Claim Jumper for special events holidays. As always, the food was great. I had their menu memorized and received great birthday rewards. When I moved to IL, I frequent the Hoffman Estates location. It was there that things where went down hill. I noticed the food losing its quality and my rewards program had changed. No longer a benefit of renewal. I was informed the company was taken over by another, but could not confirm. Prior to the covid shutdown, I went to celebrate an anniversary. Service was horrible. Two of us were there for 2.5 hrs. The server couldn 't get the order right, took forever to bring things to the table. When we brought it to his attention, it took another 20 mins to return with the item. The place was not busy because we went during the week and early in the day. We completed our dinner and he still never returned with our forgotten salad. NO SUPRISE THIS LOCATION CLOSED!!"

"when they are well prepared for some delicious seafood. landry is a place they should try. they are a “chain” but they make them feel like the meal they prepare for them is especially. I ordered the reddish grilled and noticed the extra strokes they could add to the court. what I really wanted was the Melissa version, but with the white wine cream sauce. explained that with my server ronda and she was “no problem” and she went to my order. I also went for the iceberg wedge salad against the standard and it was great. the greens were fresh and crispy, while the blue cheese and the additions were well prepared and tasteful. the reddish was perfectly prepared, moist and bursting with aromen. without the Melissa Add-on! I decided to mix the melissa white wine cream sauce in my rice, for what has proven to be an extraordinary taste. at the end, it was all gone, but a memory in my full booze! very recommend this plate. I was impressed. the service was excellent and ronda took care of me and made sure I had everything I needed."

"We were disappointed in the service we got on Nov 11 2022. We had reservations for 1:30 PM and even though we were seated promptly, a server did not come to our table to ask for our drink selections for 10 minutes. It was not a crowded restaurant, which we found unusual due to it was Veterans Day. When we finally did get our drink orders in, that too took awhile to receive. Food ordering was just as bad. I had the Lobster BLT with fries, and the fries were cold when food was brought out. My husband's food was also cold. I mean who likes cold fries and cold mashed potatoes? The only thing we got that was hot was the soups we ordered. The one only other thing we found disgusting was the server had a beard and wearing the mask, the beard was not covered up and could have hair that might have fallen in people's food. Beards, and ponytails should be in hair nets. Also, one server ran into the back of the manager, (manager's fault for not looking) with food plate and she did not take the plate back to the kitchen as the food hit his back. Really need to get the place in order about food caring! Never should food come out of the kitchen cold unless it is ordered that way!"

"The pros: food was delicious, it's a beautiful place, and our waitress was really nice. The cons: We had a reservation at 7pm. It was about 7:15 when two walk ins were seated before us. By 7:30, our name still wasn't called so my mom went to the hostess to see how much longer it would be. They were able to seat us immediately, so it seemed that they just forgot. After ordering, we did not get our food until after 9pm. People who sat after us got our food and finished eating before we even got our food. Between when our reservation was supposed to be and getting our food, we waited over two hours. I feel like this was way too long. My food as well as another persons food was lukewarm but we didn't say anything because we just wanted to eat and we were so hungry. We were a party of 4 and this is what we had: A salad A chowder Steak with potatos Two salmon dinners A sushi roll. I do not feel like this was enough food to justify the wait. Overall it was good but the service could've been much better. Waitress was doing her best so no complaints on her. I would come back here and give it another try because it's such a beautiful place and the food was really good overall..I just wouldn't come back any time soon because I feel they need time to get everything in order. This place has been around for so long and has a great reputation. There's no way I believe this is how the service typically is. Would come back, just not any time soon."

"We visited last Saturday for my company’s Christmas dinner. Our reservation was at 6:15 PM, we arrived exactly on time and there was so many parties waiting to be seated. We were told to wait and will be called once the table is ready. We waited 45 minutes and was seated at 7:00 PM. I am not sure what’s the point of reservations if we have to wait this long! Once seated, we ordered drinks and the waiter told us that the bar is really behind on making drinks and that it will take a long time for us to get them. At this point we put in all our drink orders for the night to ensure receiving them all together. We waited another half an hour until we finally got our drinks. I ordered my drink neat and it was made incorrectly, received it on ice. After another 20 mins we receive our appetizers, no complaints there, the food arrived hot and was tasty. My main complaint is the main dish I ordered of the lobster Mac and cheese. The picture showed the dish having a good amount of lobster on top and for the price tag of $22 I believed it would so I ordered it. I was so disappointed to receive a plate of only Mac and cheese, after digging deep and looking through the whole plate, I found one tiny piece buried under the pasta. It was so small I could barley see it! What a disappointment of a dish… will never be coming back here. There is a reason Yard House was fully booked that weekend since August and your restaurant wasn’t.. awful experience."

"Got to the restaurant. Tell the hostess. We were there for Open Table reservation. Reservation set for booth. No one was in the restaurant. Very minimal people. It was around 5 PM. We were put in a corner Booth I asked can we move one up? Closer to the center. She made a grimace. Server comes up. Let him know. He says he'll help us. Order the appetizer. Everything so far so good. Next thing we order our dinner. Girlfriend orders filet mignon. I had some medillations of meat. Anyhow comes back to the table within 5 minutes. 5:15 p.m. On a Saturday. They're out of filet mignon?? Are you kidding me? Experience just went downhill from there Dreadful Dreadful Dreadful. Very disappointed in Claim Jumper. Was looking forward to this meal. Week before Valentine's Day and this is what you get. Unfortunately Ruby Tuesday was better. What does that say.??....yuk. Stay away."

"We stayed here yesterday while traveling back from Georgia to Texas, and we enjoyed the shrimp cocktail, crab bisque, Caesar salad, and boiled crab. Our waitress, Cheryl, was a delight, and the managers, Victor and Jay, stopped by our table to ensure we were having a good experience. We had also visited a few days earlier on our way out and took some crab bisque and seafood gumbo to go. I've been dining here for about 20 years while traveling to and from Texas, Tennessee, and Kentucky, and the same chef has consistently made the best gumbo in the nation. The rich, dark roux is truly unlike any I’ve had elsewhere. I'm definitely a fan of this place! Thank you to Cheryl, Victor, and Jay for the wonderful service!"
