"The Fat Man took a little jaunt south for a weekend in the Crescent City. I've been told that this is a foodie town, and I was excited to see what New Orleans had to offer—starting with Mahony's Po-boys Seafood. Mahoney's is an informal eatery offering a variety of Po-Boy sandwiches other Cajun-Creole grub, plus cocktails.@mahonyspoboys My friends and I decided to start with the Debris Fries, shredded cheddar, and roast beef debris gravy. We received Cheese fries made with house-cut fries, cheddar cheese, and pimento cheese queso. We were hungry and didn't mind, so we tried them. The fries could have used a little bit longer in the fryer as they were cooked slightly under, but they were salted well. The cheese is melted well, and you get an excellent pimento flavor in the queso with some heat on the back end. Our server came by and noticed the mistake, so they upgraded us to the debris gravy, simply pouring the gravy over the top. The roast beef was tender with great flavor; the gravy was rich with a good salt level. Everything worked well together. It was a small mistake that turned out to be great together. For my meal, I ordered the Fried Catfish Fillet Po-Boy, 10 , a cornmeal crusted Louisiana catfish filet on French bread with Braised collards as my side. The greens were tender with a good salt level but needed some pork for flavor. I found them a little bitter and needed some more vinegar. The bread and veggies were fresh, a good amount of mayo on the sandwich and the bread had a good chew but very soft. The bottom bun was a little soggy. The catfish had a great fresh taste but could have used another minute or two in the fryer. The breading was light with a great crunch on the outside for most of the sandwich but slightly mushy in the middle and bottom. It had flavor and tasted good, but a mess of a sandwich to eat as it fell apart when bitten into it. Mahony's serves plenty of NOLA favorites for starters and entrées, beer and a full bar. Their menu also offers two Po-boy Fest Award Winners. The service was fast, and the server was excellent. The Fat Man says that Mahony's Po-boys Seafood is Fat Man Approved with 1 chin."

"Visiting from Milwaukee WI. I was looking forward to eating here, since the menu looked appealing. This wasn't the case. When I arrived. There was no host to greet or seat Mr. I had to walk over to the bar and ask for service. I chose to sit at the bar, since I was by myself. The bartender made me a mojito, which wasn't good at all. It was missing the balance of the line. Also, I could taste more alcohol, than syrup or club soda. The mint leaves weren't fresh. I barelydrank it. I ordered the shrimp and grits, with a side of Aspargus. The presentation was great. However, the taste wasn't. The grits were lumpy and bland. The bacon gave it a funny taste. I never had shrimp and grits with bacon. It didn'tgive it a good taste. I didn't see any sausages as the menu stated. It wasn't worth 24 dollars. The asparagus was good tho. Nice touch and wasn't overcooked. Overall. The rate was 2stars. I wouldn't visit again. I did tip the bartender. But, wrote a note for her to slow-down. She was running to the front to the back. Like literally running. She made her drinks too fast, which is probably why mine didn't taste well. Employees have to keep in mind that they are human and notrobots. Do your job effectively. That doesn't mean move at a high rate of speed. That's how you stumble and trip, accidentally. With me sitting at the bar, I overheard the workers, talking about certain customers and complaining. It wasvery unpleasant and unprofessional. Didn't appear appealing. Especially, with me sitting literally right there. They should be more conscious of whose around. I could have been a secret shopper. They would have failed if I were. Theatmosphere was nice. But, the food and drinks need work. Restaurant has great potential. Take this as corrective criticism. Not negative."

"With a high online ratings and recommendations, we decided to try this place for an early dinner today. We ordered online three entrees for pick up...blackened shrimp over grits, fried catfish and shrimp with Cajun fries, and a full seafood gumbo. From the time I ordered (2:55 p.m. , to the time it was ready for pickup (4:15 p.m. was just over 1.25 hours. The subtotal was $46. 1 Not sure why it took this long to prepare my order, plus it was in the late afternoon! By the time I got home, every thing was warm, and the fried items were luke warm. 2 Before leaving the store, I checked my items and confirmed there were 3 items in the bag. However, the seafood gumbo over rice $14.50 was in a small plastic container, therefore, I wanted to double check with one of the staff members that it was not a side order. They confirmed the size was a full sized order! ? Not much seafood after poured over all that rice. Flavor was just OK, I've definitely had much better. 3 The fried shrimp and catfish with Cajun fries $15.75 was a sad bunch. There were only 4 little shrimp and 2 slivers of catfish, but plenty of fries. The shrimp were dry, and I've never seen Canjun catfish so small! The shrimp and catfish were a seasoned with a cornmeal batter, nothing special. 4 Blackened shrimp over grits $15.75 was also small in size with 7 small shrimp. Taste of shrimp was again just OK. Overall, I was disappointed and sadly will not be back."
