"We made reservations and had a group dinner with 6 of my friends and we had a great time! An awesome find in Pasadena. : AMBIANCE: Great place for a date, family or small groups. SEATING: Plenty of tables for small and big groups. SERVICE: Good. Very attentive staff that would check on us and refill our waters. I was surprised that they didn't try to kick us out and let us take our time during our dinner. TAPAS: -Shrimp Donut (ground shrimp coated with panko served with mango alioli : good -Crying Tiger (filet mignon marinated with thai chipotle : good, nice flavor -Five Spice Bao (flour bun stuffed with five-spice duck meat served with hoisin sauce : OK, there wasn't that much meat and a lot of bun. FYI, only 2 pieces. ENTREES/NOODLES (FYI, they make a lot of dishes spicy and no adjustments : -Yellow Curry with Chicken (chicken or shrimp or scallop with fingering potato and caramelized onion : Very tasty! -Beef Brisket Panang (12 hour brisket with panang curry : AMAZING! I loved the flavor and the beef was so tender! -Pad Z-Ew with Shrimp (chicken or brisket or shrimp or scallop with pan fried rice noodles with soy sauce, egg gailan : I'm a big fan of pad see ew and they got it down just right. PARKING: They have plenty of spaces in the plaza, but you may have to park on the street on busy nights. Plenty of free parking around the area. I would recommend checking this place out if you like Thai food and tapas. I will be back!"

"Oh, boy--time to review another doozy. I visited Thai Taste for the first time last week per the suggestion of my friend. We'd often walked by on the way to Jojo's, which is one of our usual hangouts, and curiosity finally got the better of us, so we decided to drop in for dinner. For our entrees, my friend has the pad Thai and I opted for the pad see ew (both $10.95). Compared to other Thai restaurants I've visited, I found the execution of the pad see ew lacking. The noodles were gummy in texture and the Chinese broccoli was slightly wilted, such that the texture was lacking variation. The flavors lacked the complexity of authentic Thai dishes--my see ew was sweet and somewhat spicy without much detectable savoriness, resulting in a very one-dimensional flavor. This dish seemed like an Americanized version of see ew, similar to the orange chicken and General Tso's found at many Chinese-American takeout joints. Even the presentation wasn't particularly appealing--everything was thrown on the plate without much attention to detail, much like what you'd expect at a diner. I ate only half of my dish and took the rest home, and it was even worse the next day, such that I ended up throwing out most of the remainder, which I hate doing. The one thing this place does do right is Thai iced tea--but then again, how can you screw that up? At least it made for something pleasant to sip on between mouthfuls of the lackluster see ew. The service was also pleasant, so I can't complain about that. I recommend giving this place a pass and finding somewhere better. While I'm admittedly not a huge aficionado of Thai food, I've had a lot better, which leads me to believe that there must be a competitor serving up superior Thai dishes in New Haven."
