"I have eaten at Woody's many times but this is my first review of it. If you follow me, you will remember that I am partial to Prime Rib. Just like the Chicken Fried Steak is the touchstone of any Diner, so is the Prime Rib for any Fine Dining restaurant. The thing is, Woody's is more of a Roadhouse, but their Prime Rib can compete with those white tablecloth establishments. Woody's offers Prime Rib Dinners on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday only and only after 4:00 PM. The portion served is huge (see my photo and is accompanied by a big baked potato, au jus, and horseradish sauce. (If I had to fault the plate, it would be that they do not include a vegetable but, frankly, there is more than enough to satisfy almost any appetite. The meat was tender and juicy and cooked spot on to my preferred doneness of medium rare. Woody's coats the roast with a peppery dry rub, which is a perfect complement to the meat. The price (as of this writing is $24.99, and has not risen since before COVID. To their credit, unlike many places, Woody's does not tack on a surcharge. I added a small green salad (bleu cheese dressing, of course and an Arnold Palmer to drink (free refills , bringing my tab to $32.47, not including a 25% tip. Three cheers to Woody's for offering a 10% discount to active and retired military, police, and fire personnel. (Please note: This discount can only be applied to regular menu items and, since it is a week end special, the Prime Rib is not eligible. By the way, Woody's has a very complete menu, so don't be put off if you're not a carnivore. I have never had a bad meal or a poor experience at Woody's so, with confidence, I can say that Woody's is Highly Recommended."

"My wife and I actually stopped by earlier in the day and looked over the brunch and lunch menus, and decided we would have to come back to the Mimosa House to cap off our weekend date. Outdoor seating was our only option, as a private party had already reserved the indoor tables. The weather was decent, as the rain had passed and the temperature was around 72 degrees... Much more tolerable than the 90+degree weather we would have had to endure a few weeks ago. We were very close to asking for a propane space heater, but service was quick so we just got down to the business at hand... Ordering dinner! My wife ordered a Pinot Noir, but something more like a Pinot Grigio was served. No problem--she normally orders that after a meal, but enjoyed the refreshing change. Our private discussion about Red vs. White was interrupted as a gentleman presented himself at our table. Lou welcomed us formally, surveyed us re. our gastronomic preferences, and our tolerance for spicy food. During our short conversation, we learned about his culinary experience, his inside knowledge about Cajun cuisine, and his son 's time in Italy that authenticated the selections on the Vacanza Romano dinner menu. All while Lou was out-of-uniform . After confirming that the lasagna was indeed prepared with two kinds of meat, Lou 's description of the 15-layers of pasta construction made my dinner choice a no-brainer. My wife had a taste for spaghetti, and Lou politely asked permission to put a meatball on top. We decided to add a Caesar salad to balance out the heavier entrees. Lou dismissed himself, but returned within a few minutes--this time wearing a sky-blue Hawaiian shirt, along with a sample plate with Jambalaya on one side, and Gumbo on the other. He wanted to ensure that we could distinguish between a roux made of beef broth reduced with first-fried Andouille sausage... and seafood, versus the rice-based dish with chicken. Between this taste of New Orleans, the salt-crusted focaccia with olive oil and balsamic, and our Ceasar salad, we suspected that we would be taking our entrees to-go. Our entrees arrived with the presentation of both the lasagna and spaghetti almost too beautiful to eat! All of those layers of lasagna sheets were fanned out across the plate, covered with a surprising (for me béchamel sauce. The first forkful had a subtle taste of the sweet-cream base (and--nutmeg? . At least ten layers of al dente pasta, parmesan, romano and the lightest brushing of tomato made this as nice to look at as it was tasty. Overall, I would not have been mad if there was a little more Italian seasoning simmered into the marinara, and a little less béchamel. I am used to a crunchy, broiled mozzarella top and I did miss that. About my wife 's spaghetti--Lou got permission to add meatball, and that he did. Three, almost three-inch round meatballs were balanced on top of a bed of bucatini pasta (looked like pappardelle , lightly tossed in what appeared to be that same lightly-seasoned marinara. Another beautiful presentation, and again, I imagine my spiritual Italian mother saying, Mangia, mangia! . Still, una porzione per mio fratello, non per il mio coniuge . To-go box, please. My wife and I thought that we had finished the course, but the server reminded us that there was still dessert to consider. My wife 's weakness is lemon cake--really lemon anything. I am not normally a desert guy, but one word changed everything--tiramisù. Needless to say, we also took the desserts to-go, with no regrets. Lou came over to check on us once last time, and to get our opinion about our meal and dining experience. We live in the foothills near Kirkwood, 1.5 hours away, but enjoyed ourselves so much, that we have already made plans to return with friends for a birthday celebration. Though he never mentioned it, Lou-Lou Dedier, is the chairman of The Mimosa, Vacanza Romano, and the Undercover Burger Company. Lou, as someone who has run a small business, I tip my hat to you for the great food and enjoyable dining experience. See you soon! "You do not want to be treated the way the owner and business has treated my family and I today. We went for breakfast... 4 of us. Although we understand it was very busy and loud in there, it was already hard to hear our waiter to begin with but we tried to keep our minds open to having a good time! Our waiter was not communicating well with us and on accident smacked a cup with Tabasco causing a loud cracking sound cracking the cup and spilling water, he pretended like nothing happened and didn’t say anything and walked away. Kind of weird, but we still kept good attitudes and simply asked for a new water. Our food came, first order was made wrong, no apology or anything, but eventually the correct order was brought out. After that, one of us noticed there was a hair in the untouched food, so politely we pointed the hair out and asked for it to be remade. Still no apologies, we know hair in food in not an uncommon thing for the restaurant industry, so we didn’t think much of the hair but the reaction we got from the staff was really uncomfortable and no where near necessary! We thought it was extremely disappointing that we didn’t get a sorry with all of these accidents. We still kept a decent attitude and weren’t rude. While waiting for the one meal to be replaced, we had what seemed to be the owner come up to our table. He had been upset with us for reporting the hair in the plate to just the waiter… because that’s somehow the customers fault. He didn’t say sorry or reassure us in anyway, but instead he did decide to tell us is wasn’t their fault because all of the kitchen staff wear hats, not hair nets… baseball caps. The waiters didn’t have anything protecting their hair neither did the owner so I’m not sure why he felt the need to tell us this in the rude way that he did. He told us that and left, nothing else didn’t ask us if we wanted anything or how the rest of the food was. We felt extremely disrespected and uncomfortable since we go here very often. My family member with the hair in his food was very confused why he was being called out as a liar for the hair and what the point of the “owner” coming up to our table and talking to all of us in that way was, so he went up to the owner and still no apology just more rude comments! So many more little things come up that make it shocking that the management thinks this is okay …. but after contemplating leaving we were starving at this point we decided to stay and eat. The correct meal was brought out with no hair after the wrong meal was brought out as a correction. We will not be going back and recommend anyone thinking about going here avoids this type of service at all costs! We still paid full price and were offered nothing but disregard for our feelings. Very dissatisfied!!!! I would give it negative stars if I could!"
