"My wife and I wanted a nice laid-back place to sit outside and enjoy a fun dinner. We ended up being very disappointed by the service. Our server took about 10-15 minutes to get to the table (which feels like an eternity when you are waiting to order beverages). They took our drink order and quickly returned with a cocktail and waters but the beer we ordered was delayed by a few minutes. Not a big deal, but then the night went south. We didn't see our server again for a very long time. We started to feel like our appetizer was a little delayed when food runners showed up with our entrees. No app in sight. We let them know and eventually the server brought our app. But we were halfway into the meal by that point. The food tasted fine. Nothing extraordinary but not bad. The nachos, I admit, were delicious. The mac and cheese we ordered was described to have bread crumbs but was missing that. Fortunately the server had it taken care of pretty quickly. We were never asked about having our drinks refilled. And after eating, we waited a long time for our check. It just seemed to take forever for everything. None of the problems by themselves would have been a big deal, but together it added up to a somewhat unpleasant experience. The server was nice and apologetic. They also comped us the appetizer which was nice. May have been an off night or maybe a new server, but I can't say I would recommend going on a Saturday night. Also, we did enjoy the outdoor seating area. It was a little tight, but the ambiance was nice."

"What a fiasco...a friend and I met for dinner. I let him choose the location since he is from Adrian...and I had been to the Brooklyn and Milan location so I assumed everything would be okay...guess someone should have pinched me and woke me up. My friend arrived early and let me know he was inside...I assumed they would have seated him right away since he eats there quite often. I entered to find him him standing near the hostess desk and they took the party behind him, guess everyone needs to be there before they seat you. Once seated with our menus we were told who our server would be...both of us were hungry so we were looking at the menu. Server came over took our drink order and she would be back to take our order. I wanted the prime rib, baked potato and coleslaw...only to find out my request to have it my way, was not possible...funny how Outback and Texas Roadhouse can help meet my dietary issues, but not JR's...all I wanted was the salt washed off my baked potato and my prime rib not to be over seasoned. My friend was amazed they would hear of it knowing that the last time we went to Texas Roadhouse in Novi last month they didn't even bat an eye lash at my request. Asked for the menu again to find something I could eat that wouldn't upset my stomach, I chose the sirloin, beer battered fries, and coleslaw. Wanted the sirloin medium well done. When our food arrived my friend's was missing the dipping sauce and my sirloin was rare, so I sent it back but grabbed my coleslaw since I was quite hungry by now. They took the steak and fries back to cook it better, the person who delivered it agree it was not medium well done. She returned with it and I cut into it again, still not medium well done so back it went. It was returned to me cooked the way I wanted, but my fries were cold since they had been on the plate over fifteen minutes... didn't eat them because of that...plus when I said something when the server came with another ice tea I was not heard/ignored. Since I was treating I ended up paying the bill and left a more than generous tip according to my friend, who eats there regularly and could not believe the issues. That meal was not worth the $55 that I paid for it. I also learned that I could have had onion and mushrooms on top of my sirloin, but a good thing I didn't get asked if I wanted them because they probably would have been over cooked or cold by the time the had my sirloin cooked to medium well done. No one offered an apology, to give me a break on my meal for the errors, nothing at all. I would have thought that once the meal was sent back a second time maybe a manager would have came and said something...still wrong. I guess locals get good service, people from out of town not so much. Lesson learned! It will be a cold day in hell before I even consider returning to this location!"

"I wrote a glowing review of this Golf Course restaurant just a year ago. I’ve since used it only for a quick “at the turn” eatery until last night. July 15th. I’m sorry to say that the 5 star plus rating of last year is merely a 3 for dining today. For starters the menu on the web site does not exist. Gone are the fine entrees from a year ago. No sirloin, short ribs, scallops, BBQ Ribs. Selections are just about what you’ll find in your neighborhood sports bar. The difference between the two are the number of tv screens you’ll be forced to contend with. Burgers are now a broader selection item on the menu. Gone, too, are the great Lobster Tots and in their place are garlicky fried potato cubes with a dash of parmigiana cheese. My wife had the fish and chips and got three pieces of frozen breaded cod that looked like they came from the near by Costco freezer section. Not at all fresh fish. I had chicken parmigiana which was one piece of chicken fried to near perfect shoe leather quality and linguine with a mild sauce that came in a small oval serving dish. Definitely more a lunch size portion in any of the near by quality restaurants in Westlake or even Elyria. Prices for most entrees were in the $18-$24 range. One perk was my tangeray and tonic came in a 10 once drinking glass and the bar tender was generous in his pour. Definitely not the high quality of just 11 months ago (dinner wise) and I won’t be back for dinner or for a quick stop while playing a round of golf. Don’t know why the restaurant has gone this route and my questions couldn’t be answered by my friendly and capable server , Rick, nor from the hostess. It’s a shame the restaurant industry has fallen off as much as it has. I’ll go out of my way to visit a good establishment with decent atmosphere. Such as Burntwood Tavern on Columbia Rd. In North Olmsted. It will be a while before we give Black River Tavern another try . David B Avon OH"
