"As Boston area transplants, my wife and I recognize authentic New England seafood when we see (and taste) it. In our opinion, the Old Port Lobster Shack delivers. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her fresh Maine lobster roll, prepared with real Hellman’s mayo just like they do back East. At first we thought it was a little pricey at $34, but a neighbor who just returned from Maine said that the going rate there is $30. Considering transportation costs for live lobster, this seems like a good deal. (FYI: The price fluctuates based on the market so you may pay more or less than we did Her mug of lobster bisque was flavorful but a bit too thick for her taste, although some people might prefer it that way. My fish and chips were terrific. There were three large pieces of perfectly cooked haddock, crunchy on the outside and moist and flaky inside, served with equally crispy and delicious fries. My meal was reasonably priced at $15.75. The Portola Valley location is small and very casual. Place your order at the counter, take your drink with you, and choose a table or picnic bench outside. There’s no indoor seating. They’ll deliver your food when it’s ready. The restaurant is conveniently located less than a mile from I-280 in the charming little Ladera shopping center. (Take the Alpine Road exit Westbound It’s hard to find a good casual fish restaurant on this side of the hill, especially one with a fresh authentic lobster roll, so we’ll definitely return when we’re in the area. As a footnote, we were surprised to see BBQ Brisket on the menu so we took home an order to give it a try. Big mistake! The meat was dry and flavorless and the sticky sweet sauce didn’t help. Barbecue is hard to get right. Instead of trying to please everyone, the “Lobster Shack” should stick to what it does best."

"If you are anywhere near Meriden and even remotely craving something exquisite, you must stop in to Taino Smokehouse Prime. We were greeted and seated right away. Shortly after we were welcomed by a tremendous baritone named Derek. Derek should be doing voice acting for sure, so if you're reading this and happen to know someone who may know someone, then please have them stop by and at least just talk with him. Anyway, stellar service by Derek (or maybe it was just his voice). The food. Where to begin? My wife had the Pulled Pork Plate with the sauteed vegetables and potato salad. I ordered the 1/2 chicken plate with the sweet potato fries and sauteed vegetables. The presentation was 5 star. The flavor beyond. The barbecue sauce in the tender pulled pork was fabulous. Each bite of my chicken was incredibly smokey and so delightful. The chunks of potatoes were plentiful throughout the salad, which was amazing. The blend of vegetables was interesting, and each one's flavor was unique on its own; just a vibrant blend. Fresh sweet potatoes fries actually were some of the best I have ever had. Grease? What grease. Each dish had potential for an overdose of grease, but each item was cooked so well, there was little to no concern of that. Taino Smokehouse Prime was a great dining experience. We haven't stopped in since pre COVID, and we wondered why we waited so long.Update: just finished the leftovers and an truly sad they're gone. Smokiness in every single bite of the Smoked 1/2 chicken. Magnificent.Parking: Plenty of open spots.Wheelchair accessibility: Easy wheel chair access."

"Brisket and the pulled pork were super dry, my husband needed to drown it in sauce. Which was unbelievably disappointing considering it's a BBQ joint. Mac and cheese was ok, nothing to brag about. Could've been a whole lot better and seasoned withsalt and pepper something, anything. The chicken wings were really good. The BBQ baked potato was ok it had a good portion ofpulled pork and the potato was huge but the pulled pork and the baked potato wasn't seasoned with anything, no salt or pepper. The pulled pork was super dry. The smoked chicken salad and fruit plate was good, the smoked chicken salad was delicious andmost of the fruit was also. If they would make sure that the fruit was ripe enough to serve that would make it much better.Omitting the bitter orange sections would be a great idea. More grapes instead. Overall my husband and I wouldn't say that itwas the most amazing BBQ joint but we were hungry so we ate,but we'd probably come back but we'll never order the 3 meat BBQplate again. Maybe we'll try something else instead. The sweet tea was bland and weak, but not to sweet which was the only goodthing about it. Just for the price of our bill, my husband and I would've loved if the BBQ meats were actually as great as theyclaim it to be. Plus you get charged a debit/credit fee. Which isn't necessary and shouldn't be allowed. So if you you're hungryand you don't care where to eat, eat here just don't order any pulled pork or brisket it's super dry."
