"Tsubaki is not your common Japanese restaurant in Oklahoma City. Not only is it located off a highway and in a gas station complex, but Tsubaki has its secrets! The secrets being that it has great authentic sushi and such a friendly atmosphere! The atmosphere is straight forward; seating, a sushi bar, and a clean environment. The waitresses are absolutely fantastic and quick to refill water drinks, take orders, and are very intuitive when you need something. We have gone a few times already before I created this review.
In the most recent time, we ordered their Spicy Crunchy Tuna Rolls, which are seriously the BEST tuna handrolls and rolls (trust me, I've had both) I've ever had. They aren't made in the common style around OKC, but broken down into a tuna tartare which creates a smooth, soft texture and is mixed with crunchy tempura flakes and spicy mayo. It seriously is an orgasm for your mouth. Plus, you cannot beat the price at $5.50 a roll/handroll. So simple, yet my favorite thing off their menu!
Also, the chef is very, very proud of the type of fish he selects and handles them with great care, which shows in the food he dishes out and the presentation. The pieces are a little smaller, but when the fish is a little colder, the sushi rice with enough heat that it melts the fish like butter in your mouth, and with the proper dressings, it makes for an incredible experience. We left very, very happy and is definitely one of our top favorite sushi restaurants in OKC, our #1 being Tokyo, which is just great. I hope they continue to progress in their quality and maintain this rise!"
