"So LRoth and I randomly wandered in here one night after some Christmas shopping. They were decently busy so we got seated on some high tops at the bar. The place is cozy with eclectic decor in a good way not a cheesy knick knack way. The pork belly burnt ends were amazing. Tender and flavorful. Pairing with pickles helps cut through the fat and savoriness with acidity. We also tried the poutine fries. Gravy had amazing flavor. Fries were crispy. Lack of cheese was not an issue. We tried the Thanksgiving sandwich and the fried chicken sandwich. Turkey was a bit dry on the Thanksgiving sandwich, and it didn't hit with a ton of flavor. The fried chicken sandwich was delicious. Great crisp with great flavor in the breading. Corn bread with the butter was fantastic. Mac and cheese was so creamy with a night crust. We did come two days later. Tried the pulled pork sandwich, which was amazing. Juicy and tender pork with great flavor. We also got shrimp and grits. Grits were creamy but the sauce/gravy to grits ratio was too high. Definitely needed more grits to thin out the sauce. We also got a side of biscuits. These were okay. A bit heavy on the breading and not as crumbly as I would've liked. Felt more like bread than a biscuit. For dessert, we got a chocolate pecan pie. So flavorful without being overwhelmingly sweet. Over all, a place I'd recommend trying!"

"Hats off to Executive Chef Michael Santoro. The Whisky Bar 's wall of backlight bottles is dramatic and sculptural and....sparkles like little diamonds. We started there with a cocktail that our group took into the restaurant. The Kingbird has a lovely menu on it 's own and was very busy, but the Backroom has a pre fixe special menu of 3-4 courses of dishes that are his choice at the time. We sat down with our cocktails and then comes a beautiful pour of bubbles from the chef and team to welcome us, then a beautiful plate of little special canapes....to enjoy with the sparkling. Next was a stunning and delicious amuse bouche with sturgeon. The bread course was served in a silver toast rack with pb j ....foie grad peanut butter and an amazing jelly. THEN, starts our 3-4 courses....which everyone around the table enjoyed...tuna crudo, black raviolis with melt in your mouth short rib, escargot, john dory, amazing rib eye caps and more. The most dramatic and incredibly flavorful presentation and dish was the bouillabaisse. You can see the pics from last night, but was over a microburner at our table and was warmed and bubbled over the top container of tarragon, fennel, citrus, etc. to create the most unbelievable broth....the table area smelled divine. This was later poured tableside over lobster, scallops and more. We also shared an extra small course of creamy chestnut risotto with alba truffles shaved over the top. Then came our fabulous desserts, each beautiful in their own right and delicious....which was followed by more unexpected treats from the chef and his team of delicious housemade limoncello and then a little silver plate of tiny beautiful sweets...a tiny chestnut profiterole, raspberry gelee, honey marshmallow and a chocolate black truffle sweet. An amazing evening with friends."

"I brought a friend to brunch because I told her that our family went to dinner on 23rd and it was fantastic! unfortunately it went down fast. not our waitress debt, she was very friendly and apologetic; she had 2 big tables and they were short busy, and she has already composed our croissant and my drink because our traitors we take so long. but we had to wait for our food for over 45 minutes and it came cold. totally unacceptable. then we had asked several people for a carafe water 3 times. When the bartender came with my 2nd blood mary, I said it was supposed to have a salted rim and would please also bring us the bottle of water. she came back with a small salted edge glass for me to pour in my drink and pour it and the filled water on our table. very rude and unprofessional! we were so withdrawn that I immediately hosted with the two (which I did not know were the manager) about the situation. When our waitress came back, we told her and our food was cold. at this point I am pleased to report that their restaurant has done the right thing. they composed our entire meal and spoke to the rude bartender. but this whole experience my restaurant wanted to show to my friend was a complete catastrophe! our waitress was professional; bartender was not. and her kitchen served cold entrees. totally unacceptable, and we didn't want to wait 40 minutes for hot escapes. when we left, we said the waitress, we wanted to type her and ask for a bill so that we can do that. then the manager apologised on the way out and said that he spoke to everyone involved. normally a manager supports the waiter and comes to the table to apologize and compensate. they did the right thing by composing, but none of it was the caliber of the restaurant I thought. my man and I have an dinner date this Thursday and I am now worried that we do not have the wonderful culinary experience we had on December 23. I would like to recommend them!"
