"Hats off to Executive Chef Michael Santoro. The Whisky Bar 's wall of backlight bottles is dramatic and sculptural and....sparkles like little diamonds. We started there with a cocktail that our group took into the restaurant. The Kingbird has a lovely menu on it 's own and was very busy, but the Backroom has a pre fixe special menu of 3-4 courses of dishes that are his choice at the time. We sat down with our cocktails and then comes a beautiful pour of bubbles from the chef and team to welcome us, then a beautiful plate of little special canapes....to enjoy with the sparkling. Next was a stunning and delicious amuse bouche with sturgeon. The bread course was served in a silver toast rack with pb j ....foie grad peanut butter and an amazing jelly. THEN, starts our 3-4 courses....which everyone around the table enjoyed...tuna crudo, black raviolis with melt in your mouth short rib, escargot, john dory, amazing rib eye caps and more. The most dramatic and incredibly flavorful presentation and dish was the bouillabaisse. You can see the pics from last night, but was over a microburner at our table and was warmed and bubbled over the top container of tarragon, fennel, citrus, etc. to create the most unbelievable broth....the table area smelled divine. This was later poured tableside over lobster, scallops and more. We also shared an extra small course of creamy chestnut risotto with alba truffles shaved over the top. Then came our fabulous desserts, each beautiful in their own right and delicious....which was followed by more unexpected treats from the chef and his team of delicious housemade limoncello and then a little silver plate of tiny beautiful sweets...a tiny chestnut profiterole, raspberry gelee, honey marshmallow and a chocolate black truffle sweet. An amazing evening with friends."

The food was excellent, and the portion sizes were just right. Our server, Julio, was outstanding!

Service was sub par but the food was nice. Despite having a reservation it took about 20 minutes to get a table. After sitting down, the server didn't even know the menu he handed to us had course options.

We had a fantastic meal, and the staff and servers were incredibly accommodating. Our server was very attentive and went out of their way to assist our group of six who were celebrating birthdays. We will definitely be back to enjoy the rooftop bar, which offers a wonderful view of the Potomac.

Creative cuisine in DC. The flavors are truly unique. The prix fixe menu was definitely worth the splurge. We typically only order the three-course option, but we discovered some enticing choices on the four-course menu that we wanted to try, so we decided to go for it, and we were not disappointed. This new restaurant before a concert at the Kennedy Center next door. Did not know that there is only one price fixed menu offered $80 or $100). The service was attentive in almost empty space. The food was very delicious. The next time we dine at the Watergate, it will be in front of the Kingbird who was as crowded as we were shown in the backroom and even more as we left.

The elaborate food presentation seemed to make up for the lack of something special in the flavor of the dishes. I opted for the $100 four-course tasting menu, adding $10 for the foie gras, which was good but not superior to others I’ve tried. The highlight of the dinner was definitely the nettle ravioli with a runny yolk. The bouillabaisse was decent, but it didn't offer anything particularly unique, aside from the table-side service that accompanied it.

The service was excellent. We went with the four course tasting menu because we wanted to try as many dishes as possible. However, the 3 course dinner would have been fine given all the little extras provided by the restaurant. Needless to say, we were more than stuffed by the end of the night. We loved every dish we picked as well as the amuse bouche. The wine suggested by the sommelier for our main course was spot on. We would definitely come back here for another special occasion. I visited the restaurant for dinner one night and for a couple of breakfasts while staying at the Watergate. Overall, it wasn't quite a five-star experience. For dinner, the food was well-seasoned, but it arrived lukewarm, which was disappointing. However, the service was excellent. During breakfast, the service was also great and very prompt, but my latte was lukewarm again. Fortunately, they rectified it on the second attempt. We will definitely return at some point to give them another chance.

Excellent dinner here, worth a try. Came to eat with a couple of friends before a show at the Kennedy Center. Wait staff was attentive, engaging, and helpful, we had plenty of time to eat 3 courses and get to our show. Not only was the food delicious, but the price was reasonable for what was served. Among us we had the pork belly, rack of lamb, and rack of pork. I appreciated the manager on duty, Hope, taking the time to talk to us about the hotel 's transformation and willingness to entertain our questions. I will definitely return very soon! Oh, and if you 're interested in non-alcoholic drinks, I recommend 'Cinnamon ', a refreshing cinnamon tea concoction! I 'll need to ask for the recip...
