"Despite Cafe in the name, I would categorize Bernards as being a higher end diner. The atmosphere was very cozy and clean. The menu is typical diner fare, but above average in quality. My Reuben was toasted to perfection, having just the right amount of sauerkraut and tender , flavorful, corned beef. Not chewy or overly fatty. The onion rings were tasty and mozzarella sticks about as good as they can get. The coffee was above average and well worth a refill. Service was quick but on par with typical diner service. I would definitely go back there again."

"I made the reservation, almost a week in advance and arrived on time. We had guests from Europe with us, and they were alarmed that we waited almost 45 minutes to be seated. In my reservation, I had requested a table along the window with a view of the ocean. What we got was a table in the corner with a view of the fence. And that was after a 45 minute wait. The server seemed very inexperienced, though she was very nice. She took our order and still we did not. have the tortillas and salsa that is normally brought to the table even before we ordered. She brought those things after we asked, and then said I'll bring you plates, but she never did. Until we had to ask again as the tortillas were cooling. Our guest ordered a beer and she brought it to the wrong table and they refused it and she took it away. We had to ask again for the beer. The most disappointing thing was not only where we were seated, but the fact that we were not able to even eat our complementary tortillas and salsa until an hour after our reservation time. The food we ordered was good, but in general the experience was a negative one."

"Mixed feelings. There was an hour wait once we got there, but Open Table only said there was a short wait, so we were able to get in sooner. We had our pup with us, so had no choice but to sit outside. But look at alllllll of these tables open…. Ironically, NONE of these tables filled up while we were there. None of them! We were there for easily an hour or more (the drink specials were yum and cheap! The spinach artichoke dip was soooooo good. Eggs Benny was yum, but one of my eggs was over-poached. I was so sad about that. My husband got the Mother and Child… it was good, but a bit dry, more gravy would have been nice. Overall, decently good experience. Yum food. Our waiter, Jared, was superb!"

"I was pleasantly surprised by our dinner tonight. My coworker and I chose items from the 2 for $20 menu, and we both ordered chicken dishes that turned out to be quite good. For our appetizer, we had onion rings, which were excellent. Our server, Dawn, was friendly, funny, and attentive. The bathrooms were clean, and I noticed an employee washing his hands very thoroughly. Overall, it was a great experience. Thumbs up!"

"Hit or miss. Our last meal was pretty disappointing both in terms of food and service. The chicken in my 8 Chicken Parm grinder was only slightly larger than one of their chicken fingers(I should have put one side by side to compare). I don't mindpaying more and having the chicken actually fill the bread, but when they do this, even if the price is less, I feel ripped off.Service was a disaster, but given the times we're in at least she showed up to work."

"I came to this Applebee's it was close to our hotel as we did the tubing thing over Labor Day weekend from Houston. I had been to a couple Applebee's in Houston before and the service and the food was mediocre at best. In addition it had been a really rough day of tubing as I dropped my cell phone and my keys to my vehicle in the river so I was pretty stressed out to say the least. This place made me do a complete 360 as well as my fiance. The waitress Kylie was absolutely phenomenal!! She did her best to cheer us up and the food was absolutely impeccable everything came out on time and quickly and was absolutely delicious!! We ordered the chicken with shrimp Bourbon Street and it was excellent! I kept saying to myself and my fiance why aren't all the other Applebee's we've been to in Houston as good as this??? Believe it or not I would actually make a trip from Houston to New Braunfels just to go to this Applebee's in the future!! Well recommended to everyone as well as Kylie is the best waitress I think that we've ever had!! Kudos!!!"

"Had a co-worker's retirement party here Friday evening. Not the first time I've been at this venue but the first time organizing a party. Sandy was a great help and everything was as I expected. The food was excellent as was the service. "We chose to visit this taproom because of a craving for Sliders. I saw great reviews about the Sliders online. When we arrived there was a sign, advertising the slider special. Once we were seated and ready to order, we were told they no longer had sliders and hadn't for over a week. I was disappointed but we stayed to try something else. We both got beer flights which were good but the food was extremely bland. We got beer battered jalapeño poppers, a patty melt with fries and a pulled pork sandwich with sweet potato fries. The batter on the poppers was not seasoned at all and badly needed it. The meat in the patty melt was not seasoned and we had to add salt and pepper. The pulled pork was also lacking seasoning but the pineapple and bbq helped. The fries were the best tasting items we ate. Our waitress was nice and apologized about the sign. I would not recommend this place for food, but they have a decent selection of beers that included a porter."

"Although I’ve visited other Applebee’s locations, today was my first time visiting this location. We had the honor of having Carol M. as our server. She is super attentive, friendly, and fast! Absolutely kind! Every time our food came out to the table,she passed by to ask us if everything was okay. She would also check in on us to make sure we are good on drinks. Carol gave usthe best experience I have ever received at an Applebee’s. I understand the food industry is experiencing a worker shortage atthe moment but that didn’t seem to get in the way of Carol nor the staff. I am very thankful for the service I received. Ialso want to add, the food was delicious. I had the Honey Pepper Chicken Tender Mac and Cheese while my fiancé had a burger. Iforgot the name of the burger but he said it was tasty. I tried and loved their Halloween drinks. Definitely looking forward todining here again!"

"How do I explain the best steak house? The ambience was to die, live music was pleasant. Drinking was great! Every bite I took from bread to steak was nothing less than amazing! It felt like I was on an adventure with my taste buds. I ordered a medium of rare steak, and it came over boiled when I mentioned that to our fantastic waitress Sara, she immediately took it back where both owners came to apologize with a completely new dish of perfectly boiled food. "Great bartender, but not smiling or seemingly noticing me particularly. Good margarita. Fried mushrooms tasted good if you like fried batter. Couldn't taste mushrooms, and they seemed dry, so I dug in to see problem. They seemed like canned mushrooms. Were the dark kind and had no juice when u bite in. Well, a 1 on that. Ranch dip was watery. I like the ambiance. Concrete bar and wood floors gave that neighborhood hang-out vibe I like, though it's a very large place with tons of inside and outside seating. "When I won a local radio contest for 94.7, it came with a free buffet for up to 50 people from my work place at the Chicago piano bar. I’ve been calling for over two months and today the certificate expires. I’ve left at least a dozen messages and asked on several occasions to be called back so that we can schedule the date, not even one call back. Also, the one time that somebody didn’t answer the phone and I attempted to explain that I had the free party for up to 50 work people at the grill and bar, they hung up on me. I wouldn’t go to this place if it was the very last piano in the world with the last sip of liquor on top of it"

"They were not staffed well. We asked for our check 4 times and to go containers6 or 7 times. We finally had to walk over to the bar and get the containers ourselves and our food order was not sent in completion. Applebee's had to readjust our check 3 times because they were charging us for food that we never received.Waitress was the only person on the floor doing work. The other waiting staff were just standing around doing nothing.What my family and I don't understand is that the whole community and all the eateries were aware that it was the high school graduation day. And that they would be very busy but they had no one working.Just crazy. We will never eat there again. We will only order to go from now on.So sad"
