"I tried their soft crab as appetizer. It’s well seasoned, not too salty nor oily, and very crunchy. It’s the right balance of flavor and crunch. It also comes with salad. Portion is small, so something to consider if you’re ordering this for a group/family. For the main dish, I got Kkanpunggi which is spicy garlic fried chicken stir-fried with vegetables and a sweet, sour sauce. It has rice as side dish. The chicken is well coated and crunchy. The serving size for main dish is bigger than I anticipated which is a bonus. Giving 4 stars because the bar area could have improved a little bit, I had a hard time eating because of the elevated sides of bar table. All in all, highly recommend!"

"I called last weekend to place a order for 7 party trays for my parent’s 30th anniversary. I ordered sesame chicken, combination fried rice, spicy wings, beef pepper steak, chicken chow main, egg rolls, and beef broccoli. The waiter on the phone was so professional and patient. He answered all my questions and kindly addressed all my special requests. At the date of the anniversary, the employee called to confirm my orders beforehand to make sure everything went smoothly. The driver delivered my food very quickly and helped me carry them in. The food was fresh and delicious, like usual. I am very glad that this place existed in our neighborhood, not only their food is awesome, but they also pay attention to every little detail, very very impressive.I was already blown away with how awesome their food was, and now even more so with their customer service and professionalism.Keep it up guys!"

"The only reason Yama Izakaya Sushi is receiving 2 stars is because we enjoyed their Omurice, everything else was horrible. We showed up around 1:05 they said they did last call already but they will allow us to order togo. Sure everyone was hungry so we went ahead ordered: 3 omurice 2 yellowtail belly 2 seared foie gras 1 double pleasure roll 1 three of a kind roll 1 mopu tofu soup The first thing we all tried was the omurice- which isn?t authentic but it was still good. The tofu soup was just OK. The downfall was the entire sushi order. We unfortunately ate the foie gras before taking the picture it was incredibly dry burnt! $8/one piece you would expect it to be juicy. The yellowtail belly tasted like a regular cut of yellowtail lacked the softness flavor of a typical belly. The rolls were terrible, the green (wasabi? sauce tasted like straight wasabi, and as you can see in the picture one roll is drowned in it. Overall the food was horrible we did not finish it. $105 in the trash, we should have done a more reliable late night meal like IHOP or Whataburger. UPDATE: 2 of us have food poisoning symptoms now. We will be calling the establishment in the morning."

"I haven't had such a disappointing dining experience in quite a while. Despite having a reservation, they had no record of it, even after I showed them the confirmation email. They tried to make us wait at the bar, even though there were several open tables set aside for other reservations that were over 15 minutes late. The restaurant was clearly understaffed and the staff seemed poorly trained. It took a long time for us to be acknowledged, and when we finally were, the server couldn't tell us which dishes were vegan or vegetarian; all they mentioned was that the ramen "came in a bag." We noticed a few rosés on the wine list, but we were served "the only pink wine I could find." Some of the food was decent (like the fried chicken and veggie tempura), while other dishes were barely edible (such as the scallion pancake). On top of everything, our food took so long to arrive that we almost missed our show."

"Rain has been a sushi go-to for years, though it seems to be not as great as it once was. Don't get me wrong; the food is still good, just not AS good. But with happy hour specials it makes up for it I guess. The service is decent, but be prepared to wait a bit. I ordered my food and then had to wait for a server to come by my table to get some silverware. No lie, I waiting for silverware for 5 minutes. And I just needed chopsticks and a napkin. The stuffed wings are good, and I got the Cajun roll this time. If you're looking for a decent lunch go-to under $20, come here. Just plan accordingly with your time."

"Terrible customer service Don't even go if you are less than 6 people!!! They only want big parties because that how they make money. The guy at the first desk said Long story short: if you are a party that is smaller than 6, don't bother coming, because this place will sit people who come after you if they are a bigger party. According to the front desk staff, it is because that's how we make money (Yes. He literally said that Now the full story: My sister and I went to this place on Saturday, March 26th. We know there will be a long wait so we signed up via Yelp at 5:15pm, while we are on our way there. As we arrived, there are tons of people waiting as expected. The wait list said we will be seated between 6:12pm and 6:42pm. That's not a problem. We left the restaurant, walked around and went back at approximately 6:35pm. At that time, we're 4th in line. We understood they are extra busy on Saturday so we were just waiting patiently. As 7pm approached, my sister finally asked the front desk staff when are we expected to be seated. He said they're just waiting for a few tables to leave. Okay. Understandable. At this time, we noticed there are two cleaned up tables (as you can see in the pictures). Instead of having people who are the 1st, 2nd and 3rd on the wait list (BTW those are all 2 people parties who have been waited for over 2 hours), the tables were set up for 7 people and 10 people respectively. We then checked the Yelp wait list on our phone and found that the 10 people party was 8th in line. We didn't see any 7 people party on the wait list at all. As that front desk staff continued to seat bigger parties that came way behind the smaller parties, my sister finally confronted him and asked so are you not going to seat any 2 people party at all You need to understand that's how we make money He answered in a rude tone. Literally, he said that. No apology. No courtesy. Just that. I couldn't believe my ears. I mean okay. I understand that but is that really something you want to tell your customers in such an arrogant tone? Loudly? In front of all the other customers who are waiting to spend money at your business? So what's the meaning of a wait list then I aksed him. He ignored me completely and didn't respond to the question. At this point, even though we have already waited for over two hours, we decided to leave. I'll never return to this place as I could not convince myself to spend my hard earned money at a place that have zero respect to their customers. To them, any small party is not worth their attention and basic courtesy. They do not follow the wait list they set up themselves. They don't even have the basic manner to at least apologize and explain their behaviors. He literally just ignored us, and the other small party that are on the top of the wait list. I don't care how good their food is or how popular they are, this is not the kind of place I would ever visit again. There are plenty other great Korean BBQ places that serve great food and offer wonderful customer service. I used to not understand why this place only have three and a half stars on Yelp, but now I know. Actually, I would give zero star if I could. An embarrassing side story for this place happened on the same night: the front desk staff finally seated one of the 2 people party who are 2nd on the wait list. Then the 1st party in line came in literally less than a minute later and found that their seats were taken. That customer was quite upset. He said come on man, we have been here for more than two hours As a result, this front desk person had to go to the customers who were just seated and told them to get up. I mean... is that some kind of joke?! Those customers got evicted from their table then returned to the lobby and continued to wait, even though there are empty tables at that point. But of course!! Those empty tables are reserved for larger parties"

"I have been dining at this restaurant for several years. I usually order the two-item combo and I always enjoy the variety on their menu. The owners have done a great job following the Covid-19 guidelines set by the government, and I appreciate their efforts to keep everyone safe."

"Always have a wonderful experience dining Uncles. We went to celebrate my birthday and had the Fried Chicken special (Wednesday) and it was so ono (delicious). I had the Korean sauce, my Mom had the guava bbq, both were great. My sides were white rice and mac salad (added on Caesar salad as an extra side) and my Mom's sides were fries and mac salad. I tasted her fries and have to say those were the best fries I've ever had. They also have mac salad that tastes just like when I'm out in Hawaii having a plate lunch mac salad, very very good! The whipped Otai for dessert was fantastic too. I've never had a bad experience here, great food, great service, great atmosphere and music playing, I look forward to dining there again."

"I love this restaurant! A family owned restaurant for TWENTY YEARS, it's run by some of the most dedicated, talented, and genuine people in the city. I've never had a bad experience here with takeout and dine in. My go-to order is the tofu katsu with extra mac salad. I also highly recommend the hurricane fries!"

"I was welcomed by Howard, the cashier, but I needed a little extra time to make my decision. He was very patient and allowed me to take my time. When another customer received his order, I asked him for suggestions. He mentioned that he really enjoyed the #2 BBQ Platter (or combo) and confessed that he hadn't tried anything else. Shortly after, a woman walked in, noticed I was new to the place, and recommended that I try one of the bowls. I chatted more with Howard, who took the time to explain some of the menu items and inquire about my food preferences. In the end, I decided to go for the #2 BBQ Platter as my starting point. I really appreciated Howard's assistance in navigating the menu. He also mentioned that if I didn’t want the macaroni salad or white rice that came with the platter, I could exchange them for other options listed on the whiteboard. I chose the French fries, which looked delicious in the menu picture. When I got home and opened my overflowing box (it was barely closed—just take a look at the picture!), I sat down for lunch. It turned out to be a generous and tasty meal! The ribs, beef, and chicken were all grilled to perfection and practically melted in my mouth. There was also a refreshing lettuce salad tucked beneath the meat. I definitely intend to return to try the bowls and explore more items on the menu because what I had was truly enjoyable. I recommend this restaurant, especially this location, due to Howard's outstanding customer service. However, I rated the ambiance three stars because I was hoping for a more Hawaiian-inspired décor."

"As a local, I always strive to support businesses in my area, but I found this restaurant to be quite overpriced for food that was merely average. The presentation of the dishes didn’t elevate the quality at all. Additionally, I noticed an unpleasant mildew smell in the men's restroom, and the array of dishes lining the path to it was not a pleasant sight. I had heard mixed reviews about this place—some positive, some negative—and I wanted to form my own opinion. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend it to anyone seeking an enjoyable dining experience. I truly hope they can implement some changes to improve the overall vibe. While the staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, it’s the food and atmosphere that truly need a makeover. I spent $27 on the meal shown in the photo, and it definitely didn't feel like it was worth it."

"I wanted to try somewhere new and quick and didn't feel like Panda , so I found this on Google . The reviews seemed pretty good and not far from me . I was looking to get a combo plate , but she said they only sell full portions . I got an order of the General Tso's Chicken and Fried Rice . I wanted to try the Kung Pao Chicken too , but oh well . The order came pretty quick and I got it to go . The place looked clean and they had a couple customers sitting at the dining room . The General Tso's was just ok , nothing to brag about . I did like that they put a couple pieces of pineapple in theirs , some places don't . The peppers were fresh and crispy . The Fried Rice was a let down . It was dark like it had a lot of flavoring , but it was just plain tasting and didn't taste very fresh . It was sticky and a little dried out like it had been out for a while . Not really impressed with this place , so I don't think I will return ."

"Mood Uhm I wasn't aware I'm always in the mood for food. Even if I'm full I won't say no. This particular adventure I noticed Soup Dumplings aka XLB on the menu. I had to have them. This was that piece of Happiness that you sometimes have to grab just for yourself. Upon entering was quickly greeted and ushered over to a table. Menus were given and drink order was taken. Opted for the Soup Dumplings large of course, Spam Fried Rice, Mac Salad, Crispy Gau Gee, Passionfruit Tea. I was honestly surprised. However I will admit the highlight was that Crispy Gau Gee. I took the remainder and finished that as my late night snack. Interior is separated between 2 restaurants. One is the Noodle side while the other is the Hawaiian BBQ side. It is decent in size. Several seating arrangements. It was really busy as patrons were coming in and out. There was a television playing. Would def recommend pricing was reasonable for the portions and quality The customer service was very courteous and hospitable. My table was checked on continually Location is Blue Diamond/ Arville ample parking"

"I got the ahi poke for appetizer and the Hawaiian BBQ Special. The ahi poke by itself was a little salty for my taste but I’m sure the actual meal with rice is much better. The meal was delicious. If you want to try a little bit of almost everything, the BBQ special is the way to go or the other combo plates. The food tasted authentic with great flavors. The atmosphere inside is very unique and well decorated. Makes you feel like you’re some place else! I definitely be a returning customer here!"

"Small place with about 6 tables. We went for lunch on Sunday and there was a short wait. You order at the counter and food is brought to your table, water and hot tea are available to serve yourself. WOW! The rolls are HUGE and very reasonably priced for the size. I love the menu with a large variety of rolls, sauces and combinations to try. Most importantly the fish was fresh and everything we ordered was delicious. I definitely recommend the Phoenix roll. This is not close to home for me, but I'll go out of my way to come here for my sushi fix."

"We looked for Asian cuisine, specifically searching for soup. Today is very cold and my wife wanted something to warm up. The reviews were positive. It was clear that masks were required, which we had planned and prepared for each family member. Upon arrival, there was no dine-in seating and no message to lead us to believe we needed to pre-order. Your choice is to order takeout or have it delivered. We live too far away to have anything delivered. It also does not make any sense to order soup and drive 35-40 minutes home! Very disappointed!! More accurate information would help this restaurant!!!"

"Disclaimer: I did order the meal that I am reviewing from DoorDash so an actual in-person experience may differ.Look, I hate to rail on local restaurants online, and I generally leave favorable reviews at most of the places that I eat at. However, the food from Hawaii BBQ Restaurant was really not all that good. I ordered the Spicy Chicken/Chicken Katsu Combo, which came with fried rice and an egg. The price to portion sizing was actually great, as you do get a heaping serving. However, that unfortunately was the only silver lining for a rather bad experience. To start off, the spicy chicken had an unpleasant odor and aftertaste with distinct taste of that off-brand soy sauce. The Katsu was alright, but the rice and egg were pretty bad. I hope I just got a botched order because the photos on other reviews look great, but you can clearly see that the rice isn't cooked uniformly, and salt was the only distinct flavor that came off of it. The egg was runny and fried well, but the lukewarm temperature threw me off. I get it, food won't always be delivered piping hot, and this is probably my fault having it delivered, but it really wasn't that palatable otherwise.Overall, I would give this place a skip if you plan on ordering, unless you live close by. However, if you're blitzed on a Friday night and are craving some comfort food, this place might just hit the spot."
