"Your culinary journey begins with light, fluffy baked bread served in a napkin-lined basket, accompanied by creamy butter in a cobalt blue glass bowl, reminiscent of the restaurant’s candle holders. A friendly server eagerly presents a variety of delectable Greek dishes and wines to suit any mood. We kicked off our meal with the house’s signature vegetarian dolmades, which are tender grape leaves wrapped around a savory mixture of rice, onions, and herbs, drizzled with a zesty lemon sauce and garnished with fresh parsley. A garden salad complemented the dolmades, featuring crisp vegetables like vine-ripened tomatoes, crunchy cucumber, sweet bell pepper strips, and colorful red onion. Next, we indulged in Avgolemono soup, my personal favorite Greek dish. This comforting soup combines chicken broth with chopped egg, fluffy rice, and lemon juice, all beautifully garnished with parsley leaves. I could easily eat this for every meal! Then came the iconic gyro sandwich. Delphi Greek Cuisine’s simple yet effective preparation highlights the quality and freshness of the ingredients. You can choose between beef, chicken, or lamb, and each option comes with a small garden salad, chips, or a bowl of avgolemono soup. We always opt for the lamb, which is tender and juicy with every bite, complemented by sliced tomatoes, red onion, and a cool, creamy tzatziki sauce. Our attentive server recommended a lovely Cabernet to pair with our meal, which proved to be an excellent choice. When we tried the Moussaka, we were instantly captivated. This delightful dish features layers of meat and thin-sliced eggplant harmoniously combined with a rich tomato sauce, fresh herbs, and juicy flavors that create a celebratory moment for our taste buds. The beautifully presented casserole was served with steamed vegetables and rice, easily satisfying our appetite for authentic Greek cuisine. "Having a home nearly next door to another Greek inspired steakhouse in the area for about a year and a half now, my wife and I have driven by this place countless times saying someday . I visited their website and their Thursday night date special was where my mind was at, but because we 're rarely around on Thursdays, it would never happen. We bit the bullet this past Saturday and now I can hardly wait to go back. Let me start with the decor. The outside of the building was completely unassuming. As we entered the building, it was almost as though the angels were singing. The carpet was plush, the walls darker in color, the rooms dimly lit, but no so much that you couldn 't read your menu. The overall feel of the place was ritzy. Service at first was a little clunky as we were told about the specials while standing up with our hostess blocking access to one side to our seating. The service improved beyond this first experience. We ordered a drink and water to start. The wine pours were reasonable. Our waitress came around with our drinks and told us about Saganaki. Not knowing much about it really, we were pleased when it came out and it was really entertaining, and delicious too, albeit filling. My wife had the French onion soup, and bacon wrapped scallops and I had the wild rice soup and the early bird prime rib done medium with garlic mashed potatoes. The French onion soup was delicious, and so was the wild rice soup. We both felt that if we had eaten it all, we might not be hungry by the time our entrees arrived. Did I mention there was bread too? We didn 't partake. The prime rib and garlic mashed potatoes weren 't plated together, which was ok. My prime rib was done beautifully. I 'm used to seeing a small dish with au jus at other places that serve prime rib, but this wasn 't included here. There was ample juice on the plate itself, which is likely why the mashed potatoes weren 't plated together. First bite was amazing. Delicious, warm, tender and flavorful too. I really don 't think I could have ordered a better option. The garlic mashed potatoes were tasty, but the texture was a bit more runny and less fluffy. The bacon wrapped scallops were plated well visually appetizing. And I 'm pretty sure anything wrapped with bacon makes it better, right? The size of the scallops did not disappoint either. They were cooked perfectly, bacon was crisp enough and the scallops weren 't overcooked. They tasted really good too. There was a bit of spiciness to them. It wasn 't overly pronounced, but just enough to let you know it 's there. The bill was reasonable too. I 've paid much more for lots less. Suffice it to say we couldn 't finish our meals. We took our leftovers home. We left content and pleased with our dining choice. We will definitely be returning again. This time I don 't think we 'll wait for a year and a half. "Let me say this: I've eaten at a lot of chicken places around the world and for some reason, this grilled chicken at Astoria's Chicken Shack is THE BEST CHICKEN I've eaten. Hands down. No debate. I eat here regularly. I'm talking multiple times a week. Ieat at the restaurant and I order delivery sometimes. It's the best. The chicken is moist and tender. You can see the chef makeit right in front of you on the flame grill so you know IT IS VERY FRESH! It has a delicious flavor to it and the saucescomplement the chicken very well. I always go for the half-chicken on the value menu $13) because you can't get a meal betterthan it! It is SO HEALTHY! You are given a side salad which is fresh and you are also given another side of your choice. Inaddition to all of that the chicken, the sauces, the salad, and the side), you are also given pita bread with it! This place issimply the best! I absolutely love the sweet potato fries too! THE SWEET POTATO FRIES ARE SO GOOD!!! You need to try them. Theyare delicious, crispy, and bursting with flavor. The combination of the half-chicken with the sweet potato fries is literallyunbeatable. The price is also amazing. VERY AFFORDABLE. I absolutely love coming here. I also want to say that the manager ofthe shop is a great guy and everyone that works with him is also very helpful and respectful. I feel at home when I'm eating atthis place! I will definitely be coming back! Thank you Chicken Shack!"
