"I've been dining at this restaurant for many years, back when it was still relatively unknown. Initially, the food was exceptional, but as their sales increased, the quality started to decline. I decided to take a break from dining here for about three years due to that issue. However, I've recently noticed a significant improvement in their food.
I just ordered the Honey Chicken Box for delivery. This box is meant to serve about two average diners, but a single person with a hearty appetite could probably finish it all by themselves. Inside this somewhat worn, stapled cardboard box, I found:
- 1 Pint of Honey Chicken (around 10 pieces)
- 1 Pint of Pork Fried Rice, tightly packed
- 1 Quart of Wonton or Egg Drop Soup
- 1 Bag of Fried Wontons
- 3 Fortune Cookies
Typically, the honey sauce is provided in a separate container for those who prefer it that way, but I asked them to mix it in traditionally. This allows the honey to soak into the crispy battered chicken, creating a delightful effect. The pork fried rice is quite special in my opinion; add a little honey sauce to it, and the pork tastes reminiscent of glazed cherry ribs.
On the downside, the soup was a bit cold, overly salty, and had too strong a flavor of scallions. The fried wontons were decent, but while I don’t mind a little grease, cold wontons just don’t sit well with me.
Overall, it was a good meal, and it's a great option for students looking to grab lunch since it's located near the Miami Dade College Kendall Campus and is budget-friendly. Just a heads up for those considering delivery: the delivery driver had a bit of an attitude. I live only three blocks away, and he seemed to expect a tip of more than $3. He was fortunate to leave with all his teeth intact! Enjoy!
