"This is not authentic Thai food, and it made me sick. We visited for lunch today, and I’m still struggling to find a genuine Thai or Asian restaurant in Knoxville that isn’t overly Americanized or simply inedible. Their menu didn’t even feature traditional Thai dish names. The summer rolls with pork and shrimp were small, and the pork was greasy and tasted off. The spicy beef salad was the worst we've ever had—the beef had a BBQ flavor instead of the expected lime and spicy sauce, and it wasn’t spicy at all. The Pad Thai was bland and tasted like it was made with tomato sauce. And all of this cost nearly $40. After we got home, I started feeling sick. I’m exhausted by the poor quality of Thai food in Knoxville. This place isn’t authentic—there wasn’t even a single Thai or Asian customer inside, which says a lot. They should just serve the food they know how to make instead of trying to cater to locals who don’t know any better, and most importantly, use fresh ingredients. To make matters worse, the waitress made an inappropriate comment suggesting we came because of an Asian festival happening nearby and remarked on how much we ate. I’m white, so I may not look like I know much about Asia, but I teach an Asian language at UTK and have lived in Japan and Hawaii for years, so I’m familiar with authentic Asian cuisine. I’m also from Europe, where the largest meal is typically at midday, and I find such comments offensive. They need to check their prejudices before assuming things and speaking out. We will definitely not be returning."
