"My family and I love SURIN 280! We have for years gone and have ALWAYS loved the food and the service. The food is consistent, delicious and always a great deviation from all the other selections in the area. My body will tell me when it needs a SURIN fix. The interesting thing to me about the place and the food is the fact that I, my grown children and their children all have it as their favorite dining place. They obviously do something right.I want to credit the staff that have and continue to serve us. Sushil is the manager over a number of locations. His guidance is evident in their consistency of excellence! Other than Chef Surin who created the dishes it is Sushil which sees to their proper execution. We have had many servers over the years but one had stood out over the others, Erim. Of course we ask for her and as we are familiar with her schedule have the opportunity to enjoy her attention and efforts on our behalf. She is and has been alone at the top of her field. Not intending to slight any of the other servers all of which are excellent but from which we have not enjoyed their efforts nearly as much are Nadia, and of late, Denice. They too are now two favorites whom we have found to be extremely talented at their craft!Do yourself a favor and give SURIN 280 a try. Everyone I have taken has loved it and I sincerely bet you do too!"

My family has been coming here since 2010 and have had no complaint. The two new dishes, Drunken Fried Rice and Seared Salmon Belly is a must try. Both dishes are delicious!!!!

I ordered the Sushi combo #3, and it was fantastic! The soup was the best I’ve ever tasted. The sushi itself was AMAZING. My waiter, Yancy, was both efficient and friendly. I will definitely be returning!

Amazing! The food is absolutely delicious and the service is consistently excellent! The coconut soup is a must-try. The spicy beef salad is incredibly crunchy, and the curry cashew chicken is fantastic... I could keep going on about all the great dishes! View menu

All I have to say is this place is my favorite Thai restaurants in the state of Alabama. I've had mostly everything their menu has to offer. So far nothing has failed me. The service is fast and friendly. The atmosphere is family oriented and cozy. I highly recommend it his place!

We had great food and service at Surin 280. We were in a group of 11, and our server David did an excellent job of getting everyone's order straight and keeping everyone effectively service. My chicken curry was excellent not too hot and not too mild. Those who ordered sushi were not disappointed. A good time was had by all!Food: 5/5

They have really good Thai curry at this restaurant. All of them are good. Their curry has good flavor and they’ll make it however hot/spicy you want. But their Sushi is not so good. They pack nigiri sushi (rice) too hard and it’s almost like a brick. I do not recommend sushi here at all. They also have pretty good selection of appetizers as well. View menu

This restaurant offers some of the freshest and most complex flavors you'll ever experience! You absolutely must try the super crunch, basil rolls, massaman beef, Thai noodle bowl, and the massaman chicken with avocado. Honestly, you can't go wrong with any dish; everything is delicious! I've never been disappointed here. It's my favorite place!

I love Surin 280. I eat there often. On my last visit, I decided to venture outside of my normal 5 entrées (the green curry is delicious). I decided on the garlic shrimp. They looked beautiful but tasted and felt like rubber bands. They were awful. I should have sent them back, but I hate sending food back. Everyone else loved their food. My appetizer was fabulous (pot stickers with red curry). This experience won't stop me from returning to Surin 280, but I will never order the scallops again!

"If there is a restaurant that is a Birmingham institution among the wealthier crowd, there is literally only one name that locals would bring up, and it is undoubtedly Highlands. Not that there aren't other nice restaurants, but this spot has proven itself over time and is ran by a chef that most Alabamians are quite proud of. Opened in 1982, Highland's is a place that put Birmingham on the map in a positive way at a time when the post industrial iron period was about to wind down and transform the city. Frank formalized his cooking techniques by working in kitchens of San Francisco and France, creating a medley of American Southern and French cuisine that is difficult to find elsewhere. It was not a time when it was common to see a chef from Alabama going to study cooking in Europe, thus the story was already an anomaly. Frank Stitt was trying to pioneer sustainable agriculture and farming well before anybody in Alabama knew what in the world that actually meant or for that matter, cared. One of the signature items is the baked grits that has been around since the restaurant opened. It's a tasty grits preparation and without a doubt, something to try. The pheasant was spectacular, fairly lean and with a crispy delicious skin, served with grits and green beans. Pastries here are created by Dolester Miles, who has been in the job for well over 30 years. The opera cake is absolutely spectacular, gentle and complexly layered. The basque cake is peachy and moist, with a crispy delicious exterior and Chantilly cream. Not only are these likely the best desserts to discover in Alabama, but may be some of the best to be found in America. The attentiveness got derail was clearly evident. As far as service, generally fine, but not particularly attentive. The waitress did not seem in much of a mood to welcome people to the establishment. Many items on the menu were running out by 8:30pm on a Saturday night. Nobody was particularly impressed with the flounder that got substituted for the grouper. And then there are other questions, why would you run out of grits? They know they are always filled to capacity and ingredients to make grits are not immediately perishable. Highland's has by this point in Birmingham's history become a classic. It's evident that most people here have been around for decades working at their jobs and serving the rich crowds of Mountain Brook. It's a place of great food and shows many combinations of ingredients that are nearly impossible to find elsewhere, let alone be executed this well."
