"Azumi is an Japanese fusion restaurant with a nice view of the water. Some issues started during ordering. Initially they weren’t able to accommodate a pescatarian for the omakase option. They were able to make adjustments on the fly, but at this price point (comparable to Michelin star restaurants) in a sushi restaurant the initial lack of variability seems a bit silly. The omakase was generally good, but had a few misses. At this price point that’s pretty rough. Dishes were also rarely explained, which would have been a good touch. As far as dishes go: Yellowtail jalapeno was oversauced. Crispy rice tuna was great in texture and taste. Tempura crab was also excellent. Wagyu gyoza was good too. The california roll was good (and uses real crab, to be clear). Sashimi and nigiri were good but not particularly standout. Wagyu beef was fantastic. The pescatarian received miso black cod, which was also delicious and perfectly cooked. The Spicy lobster miso soup was unfortunately too salty for most of the table’s taste. Dessert was a great way to end the meal though. The coconut almond chocolate bar and strawberry tofu cheesecake were all incredible. Service was generally good, with regular checkins and water always being topped off. Overall, a good experience, but probably just go for the fried appetizers, the wagyu, and the desserts. The tasting menu didn’t quite feel worth it, and the sushi didn’t stand out for the price."

"When we had walked in for a good, quick, mid afternoon meal we had noticed the place was pretty quiet aside from a few people at the bar. Perfect, timing will be great since our server won’t have a ton of other people to wait on and can keep tabs on us easy enough (even though we’re not often much of a demanding table). Got sat and the…host? Server? Not sure who she was was quick to ask what we wanted to drink before we had sat down, not a problem and they were quick to get us our beverages. However, at some point, our server had been switched and she was no where to be had most of the time. She would run us the food and quickly leave and when we had a couple of quick questions or needed something, after flagging our server down, she’d hear the first one and take off before making sure there wasn’t anything else which became very awkward. On top of all this the food, which took a while to arrive at the table, wasn’t worth the amount we paid. Matter of fact, many gas stations serve equal in quality food for 1/10th the price. To make matters even better we had to sit and listen to the bartender talk to the people sitting at the bar about how it’s okay to park in handicap spots (despite not being handicap) and about their political beliefs. Sure, I believe in freedom of speech and all but when you have a $ tab the last thing I want is some hole in the wall bar experience listening to conversations that simply don’t belong in a “high end” restaurant. Overpriced, poor staff, won’t be in business much longer."
