"A delicious, all vegan, no frills Mexican restaurant. The menu is robust, with more than enough choices for multiple visits. The space is small, with just a handful of tables, so be prepared for a wait on popular nights. Paper plates and napkins along with compostable plasticy utensils are the vibe. I came in a Tuesday around 6pm (the week between Xmas and NYE), and they were slammed lots of people waiting for dine in orders and perhaps more for to go. We had a ~30 minute wait for our plates to come out. But the food was worth the wait all delicious and flavorful (although the Chile relleno was the spiciest I've ever had, and the fish taco had an intense spice that snuck up on me. My mouth was on fire from both of those in Combo #4)"

"We went to have our dinner with our friends and sat outside. A couple came in with several children, 5 or 6., and they were all ages guessing around 3-8. They let them run and scream around and around all the seating areas. I asked them not to scream and they stopped for a minute, this went on for 15-30 minutes Management knew it and never said anything. I don’t think I want to go back even tho the food is pretty good."

"Restaurant is in a strip mall so parking in front is at a premium. Most likely you'll end up parking about a hundred feet away in the large parking lot. Restaurant inside is clean, seating is quick, and the staff is nice. It took about 10 minutes to get our order. The food was nothing extraordinary but it did taste okay. The flan for dessert was five star! The restroom was a whole different story. Upon entering the first thing you notice on the left is the urinal with the pee stain drizzles running down the wall. To your right is the sit-down porcelain unit with the same pee stain drizzles running down the wall. You look at the sink it looks as though Penguins used it as a splash pool and had lots of stains on the wall. Tiling the walls would have made this a whole lot more palatable to the eyes. This would cause me to give the restaurant two stars. The flan did make up for it."

"Solid, old school Mexican American offerings... Love the chile relleno, fajitas, chili verde. This is a great place to go with lots of friends and family. The prices are reasonable for the huge portions and quality. My best friend insisted on coming here twice in one week, she loved her food so much. Service is quick and kind. Food comes out fast and hot. Parking is easy in the back, it's easy to pay and only a few bucks."

"Went there Sunday July 23, 2023 in the late afternoon inviting a big group of family. To start with service was slow, then appetizers came cold and tasting like leftovers. Then when we asked for a few empty plates, we got a plate with a dead little cockroach. When I asked for manager to talk to, he just looked at it as if it is ok and never apologized. Anyway we stayed and had the main course which was mediocre in quality. Also bathrooms are dirty.I am shocked at the poor quality of food, service and hygiene."

"I went with a group for a birthday. It was the worst service any of us had ever experienced. Our waiter only took a few people's drink orders and then left for over minutes before we flagged him down to take the rest of the table's order. For food, we had to tell him we needed to order. He then took orders, walked away, and wouldn't come back. Once we got him to come back after telling several other workers we needed to finish ordering, he forgot he had taken the first few orders. He finally took a few more orders and left, once again not getting to every person at the table. Overall, it ended up taking hours and the food came out at all different times. We were all honestly very confused as to what was happening during our entire dinner."

"I had dinner at this restaurant the other night and it was delicious! I had tried Kabob Palace before and thought it was just 'ok' and too spicy. Also, Kabob Palace is not even an Afghan restaurant. The chicken kabob and koobideh kabob at this place were incredibly tender and flavorful. The rice and veggies were fresh and tasty. This is a truly authentic Afghan kabob restaurant and the food is amazing! I will definitely return and highly recommend it to others."

"I work here and love to work here: Gets a little crazy at times and that's a good thing! Today I noticed that most of the tables I got today have become my friends over the 5 years I've been here. The staff I work with are my friends and feel more like family. I'm so lucky to have a good group of people to work with that not only encourage me at work but in my own life outside of work. I feel like the customers see that we love working here as well. My favorite thing on the menu is the combo fajita tacos or the bacon cheeseburger! Yep we are a Mexican restaurant but we have awesome hamburgers! And my favorite alcohol drink is the El Matador."

"I finally got to visit Ruthie’s! We arrived at 5:30 on a Saturday, hoping to beat the crowd. The place was about half full, with a lively crowd at the bar watching the Astros play. I ordered the Banderas platter, while my husband chose the chicken enchiladas. We opted not to get drinks, so we just had water, which tasted like straight tap water. A slice of lemon helped mask that flavor a bit. The food was tasty and served quickly and hot. My platter included carnitas, which were incredibly delicious. The rest of the meal was good, though nothing particularly outstanding. Next time, I plan to try the famous fajitas and see if they live up to the rave reviews. Overall, it was a solid, basic Tex-Mex experience, and I’m glad to have this spot in the neighborhood!"

"Solid spot for some good Tex-Mex cuisine. Usually can get a seat on their outdoor patio in nice weather but, the inside is very charming and spacious if need be. Our food was great! I've been here before and decide to go a little against the norm and ordered the Salmon Mexicano, which was a medium cooked salmon topped with shrimp, scallops, and creamy sauce served with a side of white rice, black beans, and vegetables. Highly recommend! The only disappointment was that though we were seated right away, it took 10 minutes before someone came over to take our drink or food order. I am not sure if it was because we were one of two tables seated in the back room but, my family and I felt a bit forgotten and almost got up to leave just before our server finally arrived."

"We just happened upon this place looking for breakfast on our way to the Austin airport. They were not terribly busy at the time and our service and server was wonderful! Recommendation of Annie's taco was the best as was our other order! I thought the coffee was perfect to my liking and my cup kept full as was my ice water. I even ordered a taco to go and it came out quickly. Highly recommend this place and if I am ever back in Austin I would definitely go again!"

"Great food, great owners.
