"I genuinely love this restaurant! I've tried over 30 dishes from the menu, and I've always been impressed. The staff is extremely friendly, and I've known the owner for more than 15 years without any problems. I highly recommend the tortas, horchatas, and the steak with shrimp. Also, they serve the freshest guacamole in the Midwest—it’s made fresh right in front of you!"

"The service was poor, and the beans in my torta were spoiled and had a sour taste. When I brought it to their attention, they refused to address the issue, claiming it was a new recipe or that it was the cheese on top of the beans causing the problem. They even wanted to charge me extra to replace the spoiled beans with more rice. Since opening four years ago, the quality has really declined."

"They have plenty of parking. As i pulled in; I called the number on the banners outside... that was a bust ! So I went inside to place an order... I ordered a few steak tacos not knowing I'd be waiting close to half an hour for them in their tight waiting area with everyone else that was either picking up or waiting for their orders. Eventually I got my food and left. Their tacos were seasoned just right. Their generous portions of meat were juicy and delicious. Their green sauce was thick and had the perfect kick. They also provided some limes to squeeze over the meat and sauce. Now that I know their name I will definitely order ahead of time and pick up without the wait. Dining in is also an option!!! Yeah, I shall return."

"I had a wonderful lunch at this restaurant, and the experience was delightful. The meal cost between $10 and $20 per person, which I thought was very reasonable given the quality of the food. I would give the food a perfect score of 5 out of 5—it was absolutely delicious! The service was just as impressive, earning another 5 out of 5 for attentiveness and friendliness. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it a great spot to relax while enjoying a meal—another solid 5 out of 5. I highly recommend trying the Chori Steak Fajitas; they were truly outstanding!"

"This place is amazing. We’ve been going here since we found out about it in 2019. The employees are sooooo great! They are so polite and friendly. The food is the best with very reasonable prices. We drive from 2 city’s over to get it and pass so many other Mexican restaurants on the way simply because of the amazing people who work there."

"The breakfast was fantastic! Hash browns were cooked to perfection. Their rye toast is quite tasty. I ordered eggs over-easy and sausage links. Both were cooked just right, and were delicious. My husband ordered the chorizo and avocado omelet, and was in heaven! I'm pretty sure an owner was our waitress and she was just lovely and so nice. Our meals came quickly and were hot and fresh. Honestly, highly recommend if you want a good, very reasonably priced breakfast. And, because I couldn't help myself, I ordered a loose meat sandwich to go. Will definitely be back!! Thanks for making my belly so happy! The photo was taken after we had already dug in!"

"You can't go wrong with Gavilan! Their salsas are excellent—especially the red one, which packs a spicy kick but is delicious. The green salsa is my personal favorite. The mulitas have the perfect balance of meat and cheese, and I absolutely love the tacos!"

"When we arrived for our 11am reservation, it was quite chaotic. There were guests both with reservations and walk-ins waiting in line, which made things confusing. It would have been helpful to have separate lines for each group. Once we were seated, we had to wait about 15 minutes before someone came to take our drink order. The food was just mediocre; the quiche was cold, and everything else was merely warm, not hot."

"I like this place because of their variety. I tried a Carne asada burrito, which had guacamole and sour cream. It was very good. I like this place because they're not stingy like other taco restaurants where they want to charge you to get an extra salsa(king taco and a couple others). Their salsas are good as well, they have pickled jalapeños with carrots. Overall a good place to eat."

"We moved from Texas and heard that this was the place to get the real deal. I didn't expect it given the generic red sign out front and being in a sort of strip-mall place... I was wrong to presume. Its really really good. When I surveyed my born and raised TX wife, she says its not as good as TX but its EXTREMELY close and it's good as it gets. The food was excellent, servers were friendly, I could tell right when I walked in that several of the patrons were frequent flyers and that was a good sign. The waiters conversing amongst themselves in Spanish was also a good sign. The fresh ingredients and great presentation was obviously also a huge plus. A lot of the food on the menu is Tex-Mex but there's a few true MX dishes on there too like your birrias and al pastors, things like that. They have fresh made corn and flour tortillas, a staple down south that's pretty rare up here. Usually you're eating something made by Ortega. Not here! Anyhow we don't live too far away, we'll be back. Don't bother with any other TXMX food in ME if you're close enough to El Mexicano."

"I personally really enjoy the food here as someone who has had ALOT of mexican food in there life. I appreciate the fast service, ample condiments, and overall atmosphere of the place. The salsa selection is ok, not too spicy. The beans and rice are a delicious combo, I personally always get the asada plate it fills me up! I love how they've sorta created a fast food mexican chain and continue to expand. Follow my instagram to keep up with my adventures!Insta: JessicamlizPodcast: Ersatz Era Podcast free everywhere !"

"The worst Mexican food I ever had in my life. The pictures looked good. I came with my two staff and all three were disappointed. You said our other employee loves this place and he likes everything. My expectations were low and once I heard they went deeper. The food was FLAVORLESS. Onions and cilantro are not cooked in your food, it is on the side in a plastic bag on ice. Salsas are terrible and taste. I have a Milanesa Torta and it tasted like nothing. I am very disappointed and do not see how this restaurant has 4 stars. All my employees said the same. I had Mexican food my whole life and this tortta, by far was the worst thing I had. If I can give this place 0 stars, I would. Stay away from this tasteless poor excuse for a Mexican restaurant."

"The food was out of this world! Especially the ceviche and tostada. We have a number of food sensitivities. Our server didn't understand them but was open to asking the kitchen all the things. In the end we had a fantastic meal. The stools were quite uncomfortable, hence the low atmosphere rating. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner"

"From the moment we walked in, the staff at the register greeted us warmly and showed incredible patience as they guided us through the menu. As someone who isn't very familiar with Mexican cuisine, I truly appreciated their detailed explanations and recommendations. Their dedication to ensuring that every customer feels welcome and informed added a lovely touch to our visit. The restaurant itself was spotless, with a steady stream of customers and a view of the kitchen where fresh food was being prepared right behind the counter. We decided to try the taco combo, which allowed us to enjoy three mouthwatering tacos with different meat fillings, accompanied by a serving of steamed rice and flavorful bean paste topped with a sprinkle of cheese. The presentation of the food was excellent and practical. I particularly liked how the condiments were individually packed, along with a generous helping of onions and cilantro, which let us customize each bite on the go. Another highlight was the very reasonable pricing of the meal. For this combo (as shown in the pictures), we spent less than $10 total. Overall, our experience here was brief (less than 15 minutes) but utterly delightful. The combination of friendly and patient staff, a clean environment, and delicious food made for an exceptional dining experience. Whether you're looking for a quick snack or a full Mexican meal, this casual local chain restaurant is definitely worth checking out."
