"I genuinely love this restaurant! I've tried over 30 dishes from the menu, and I've always been impressed. The staff is extremely friendly, and I've known the owner for more than 15 years without any problems. I highly recommend the tortas, horchatas, and the steak with shrimp. Also, they serve the freshest guacamole in the Midwest—it’s made fresh right in front of you!"

"The service was poor, and the beans in my torta were spoiled and had a sour taste. When I brought it to their attention, they refused to address the issue, claiming it was a new recipe or that it was the cheese on top of the beans causing the problem. They even wanted to charge me extra to replace the spoiled beans with more rice. Since opening four years ago, the quality has really declined."

"I've been here at least 8 times this September, and I can't say enough good things about it! The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. The food is outstanding—especially the cucumber margarita with a Tajin rim; it's absolutely amazing! I also love the taco wall art; it's something I would consider putting in my own home, but don’t worry, I won’t actually steal it—it's way too big for that! Haha. The quesabirrias and gorditas are must-tries here. Everything is consistently fresh, delicious, and reasonably priced. I will 100% always recommend this place and will definitely be a lifelong customer. Thanks for everything!"

"I lovveee Taco Palenque, it’s within my top 3 favorite restaurants, whenever my family and I dine in it’s always great but the past couple of times I’ve taken the drive through and I usually get the same thing when I order which come up to about $25, my only problem is the young man who was working the window (6:50 p.m 7/13/23) didn’t listen when I placed my order, and got an attitude and closed the window in my face when I asked for more toppings for my tacos since he had only given me one topping for 4 tacos and other toppings that I didn’t ask for (running up the store’s food cost, wasting food). ? It’s not the first time he’s done it either, it’s just annoying to be treated like that at an establishment that’s well liked and a place my family and I spend our money at often."

"I love Taco Palenque!!! I don’t usually visit the Mission location, but I had to stop by today. It was 2 AM, and the drive-thru was busy. Jose Perez, the gentleman who took my order, was very friendly and attentive. I had to wait on the side for my order, and he brought it to me. When I checked my bag, I noticed I was missing the cilantro I had requested. I moved my car closer to the window and waited while he attended to other customers. Once he finished with them, he came back outside with chips, and I informed him about the missing cilantro. He quickly went back inside to get it for me and then returned to serving the drive-thru. In the 20 years I’ve lived here, I can honestly say that this gentleman left a great impression on me. He was not only friendly and attentive but also fantastic at multitasking! Thank you, Jose Perez, for such amazing service!"

"Ordered a simple $8.99 Chorizo with eggs to go , the cashier attempted to charge an additional $2.89 showing tip. I asked him why he added a tip and he just smiled. I immediately asked for my money back. Not sure how the food taste and I'll never go back to this"

"The food is excellent, as always. Unfortunately, my order was incorrect again, but it was still delicious. I'm a big fan of their corn tortillas, which are outstanding, though I often receive flour ones instead. They're tasty too, but I definitely prefer the maize. As I mentioned, the food is fantastic, but the parking situation is a different story. It's more entertaining than a movie! Honestly, I have no idea what's going on out there, but it's amusing to watch. And a quick shoutout to my fellow taco enthusiast in the white minivan who stopped me as I was trying to leave the parking lot: 1 - I was just waiting for my son to bring our food. 2 - Now that you've made a scene, I'm not going anywhere until I'm ready."

"I came to taco palenque for my lunch break, I usually order the #5 which comes with two quesadillas with fajita. I always ask to substitute the fajita for chicken, which is a simple task that should not be that difficult to complete in my opinion. Especially given that ‘de pollo’ was listed on my receipt. All in all, my order came out wrong. I was slightly disappointed given that I had to get back to work as quick as possible. But the host of that shift Eduardo Juarez, made sure that my order got fixed in a timely manner and made everything just right for me."

"worse customer service I've ever received. had a door bag. went to the registration on the bar. No one recognized me or greeted me. they were kind of busy so I tried to understand and patiently wait to be ignored. After about 5 minutes I noticed a hired person who appeared as manager, so she asked to say that it was not ready. so stood to the side and waited longer. I asked cashier to check for order after another 10 minutes. it was said a second that she should talk to a guy in the bar. she never checked for the order and ignored me...rude! So another lady asked and finally got the command that should be delivered about the time I received. I use to be a casser, server, all that, so I am busy this place, but still recognize their customers and welcome them, ask them if I can help them or something. I will not recommend this place update: reply, comment....yes it happened today, right before I wrote this and from reading a few other reviews seems that others were ignored. they teach their staff hospitality. at least to welcome customers. If they're busy, I'll tell you I'm with you, don't look at you like you're stupid and ignorant, but talk to the young in cash. Js....bad customer service can ruin a business no matter how good it could eat"

"I had a terrible experience at Taco Palenque in Palmhurst. The customer service was the worst I've encountered, and there always seems to be an issue with either the menu or the prices. As a long-time customer, I've always enjoyed their food, but lately, I've faced problems such as receiving cold food and discrepancies in prices listed on the menu. The most frustrating part is that there seems to be no manager present to address these issues. When I asked to speak with one, I was told there was never anyone available. I believe there should be someone responsible for overseeing daily operations and ensuring customers are taken care of. Unfortunately, this will be my last visit to this Taco Palenque location, as I am completely disappointed."

"What a delightful little find we stumbled upon for brunch on Sunday! After being turned away from Mi Cucina on Rt 59 for not having reservations, we drove about a mile to La Poblanita, and it turned out to be an excellent decision! We enjoyed chilaquiles, red enchiladas, and churros with peaches and ice cream for brunch. We’re definitely planning to return to sample more of their menu. The waitstaff was quite busy but also very friendly. We loved our experience!"

"Paul's is fantastic—I’ve been coming here for over ten years. Their red sauce is excellent; I’ve even bought it to take home. The menu is simple, featuring a variety of Mexican dishes alongside some Mexican-American options. The food has always been great, consistently delicious, and affordable. I highly recommend checking out Paul's and supporting local businesses instead of the new Chipotle that just opened in downtown Barrington. There are plenty of Chipotles around, but Paul’s is definitely better. So whenever I’m in Barrington, I choose Paul’s and will keep doing so. It’s a staple of the community!"

"Best Mexican food I’ve had in years!!! Food was fresh, well seasoned fresh ingredients literally finger looking good. Tacos soooo good make you wanna slap yo mama. I got the regular asada burrito ? and so did one of my daughters we both enjoyed them very much.. my other 2 daughters got bean and cheese burrito and they also really enjoyed them.. "So this is a tough one. The baked goods are actually amazing 4.5-5 all the way However, I've gotten several food items burritos, tacos, tamales. I would say the burritos and tacos are about average the price is right and the food is decent. However, the tamales are absolutely horrible. I've gotten them twice and both times they have been dried out and not edible they're not even kept in a steamer to keep them moist, the edge looks like it has been baked under some type of heat lamp. The sides that have the discoloration on the outside of the tamale is extremely dry and when you bite into it, it's rubbery and not edible. The second time I ordered tacos they were placed on top of the tamale, and when I was handed the bag, they fell over because the container the tamale was in is smaller than the taco container, so I had to remake the tacos before eating them. Really disappointing because if they took a little bit of pride in what they were serving on the food side, it would probably be on point with the bakery. It's really a shame."
