"I wouldn’t say this if I weren’t highly confident of it, as I realize the effect it can have on an establishment’s reputation, but I got the sushi sashimi platter for two, in addition to four different orders of ramen, and within minutes of eating the second piece of sushi (tuna) I contacted scombroid poisoning. I have had very minor reactions in the past to fish past its prime, a bit of soreness on my tongue and such, but in a lifetime of eating tons of sushi and fish, I’ve had it only a few times, only when eating salmon and never when eating sushi, and never nearly this bad. My tongue swelled up to where I couldn’t speak properly, and I felt some welts swelling up further back in my throat. Thank God the hotel I had gone back to had Benadryl for sale in the lobby. If I had been dining in at the place, I’d have been leaving in an ambulance. At the studio within 20 min of purchasing it, so spoilage on my end was not a factor. I was sore enough at having spent $55 for what was immediately obvious was not well prepared or high quality sushi, and pretty intent on getting a refund, but it’s more important to me that other folks visiting the area know and avoid the same situation, as someone more sensitive to histamine could be killed. Every piece of fish I inspected was in poor shape, I would have gone with grocery store sushi over the very appearance of this stuff, and I should have trusted my gut the moment I popped the lid and laid eyes on it. Sushi is expensive to buy because it assumes the vendor to be diligent about obtaining fresh and high quality ingredients, but if the vendor does not hold up their end of the bargain, customers can be put in serious peril. If a restaurant can’t do their part in the sushi bargain, they should stay out of the sushi game. I will be reporting the same to the New Jersey Dept of Health and CDC. And if I’m being honest, the tonkatsu ramen was phenomenal, so it really was a damn shame."

"Hotel room wz very comfortable, when we finally got to it. Something told me to check to see if it was under construction because of the rate. It really wasn’t low enough for the experience. It’s under construction , which isn’t the worst thing. It’s their crappy service. When I called the hotel, prior to booking, that would have been a good time to indicate that the entrance is on Roosevelt, not 39th Avenue which is the address given. We drove around the area 15 minutes, running up a much higher fare, trying to find the entrance. When we finally found the entrance, the door man watched us, 2 middle aged women, struggle with our bags w out lifting a finger! He told us where to go w o assisting us to the elevator. Check in wz on the 7th floor. Unfriendly, stoned faced personnel checked us in. I inquired about a later check out given that our plane wz departing later in the afternoon. They were soooo reluctant to concede us another hour even though we’d booked their airport shuttle for 1:30. I wanted to scream at her, “Stop pretending you’re even at half capacity w an expectation of full capacity on a Sunday in Queens in October!”Hotel room is large by NY standards, beds comfortable, room clean, water pressure excellent even though we were on the 10th floor. Unfortunately, we were placed near an elevator so my sister, light sleeper that she is, didn’t rest well. Inevitably, I find myself pondering is this the treatment reserved for Black guests? I came here tired. Probably gonna leave here, still tired."
