My husband and I shared three dishes - clams, sushi, and Asian bruschetta - and there was plenty of food to go around. "We were seated right on time, and our server arrived promptly. We ordered appetizers and drinks, which were served quickly. One person in our group ordered two additional appetizers as his main dish, but those were supposed to arrive after everyone else received their main courses. Unfortunately, his chicken wings were overcooked to the point of being inedible. On a positive note, the spinach salad and curry dishes were excellent. However, when the main courses were finally served, my husband's dish was delayed by another 20 minutes, leaving the rest of us already finished with our meals. Service was lacking; we had to seek someone out to refill our water and to inquire about my husband's main dish. As locals who usually enjoy the food here, we were disappointed by the service this time. Our friends, who were visiting for the first time, have decided not to return."

"Not only is the food good but their customer service it OUT OF THIS WORLD AMAZING!! Today I had a busy day in the salon (I’m a hair stylist) and ordered some Pad Thai ahead of time to get picked up at 2:00pm! I placed the order through GrubHub, I ended up running late with my client and had to wait to go pick up my food. In the moment I thought “oh it just won’t be super hot when I get it, my bad though cause I left later than planned.” HOWEVER they called me to tell me they were closed and to ask where I was at! I had no idea they closed a little earlier to prep for the dinner rush! I felt sooo bad! I only had like $2 in cash on me but I gave them the $2. Shrenii was kind enough to wait for me to get there to get my food. She could have called to tell me “hey sorry we are closed.. can’t pick up anymore” but she waited for me. This was the only time I could leave the salon to get food! Shrenii I couldn’t be more thankful for you and your kind self!"

"I had been sent off by a few people because I LOVE prime rib. I had just heard great things about the restaurant. Unfortunately the whole experience was disappointing for us. We had reserved at the open table and requested a stand. When we got there, the hostess didn't confirm our reservation when we told her we booked them online and still got us to a table. She was our waitress and was pretty good. The drinks were well made but small for the price. We ordered the prime rib. I got the girls cut and my husband got the kings cut which is about a $ 20 difference in price. When they came out, they were exactly the smaller portion I ordered in length and thickness. We ordered medium rarity (which it came), but it had no flavor and was extremely tough. If there's one thing I love almost as much as prime rib, it's ranch dressing. It was chunky and tasted terrible. (and no, it wasn't blue cheese) To get our USD 100 bill at the end of our meal, we were both utterly disappointed with the entire meal. The quality did not reflect the cost."

"Well, if you really don't like spicy food and you really like to be your spicy dishes on the sweet side, you might like City Thai. Yeah, I didn't cost my meal at City Thai. Yes, the decor is beautiful inside, but the food quality and authenticity is not so beautiful. I went here with a friend and here is what we shared: TOM YUM GONG: vegetables and shrimps had a kind of limp texture, and the taste of broth was very weak. Hardly one of the classic spiciness or tartness of the tone gum. HONEY GLAZED SHRIMP: Little sweet. The glaze was also a bit gummy. The whole duck I think cost something like $10, maybe $12, consisted of about four shrimps, although I think it's just as good not to waste good shrimp on a unsuccessful dish. TOFU PAD THAI: That was the best of the dishes we had, but again it was too sweet. Yes, Pad-Thai should not be sharp, but I think they would have increased the salt or fish sauce content or reduced the sugar content in the shell. The service was good, but I won't be back. It is not the cheapest Thai food out there, and more important that there are much better Thai food in LA (and Pasadena has other better restaurants, even if they are not necessarily Thai."

"Location atmosphere were good. Definitely need to hire some help with service as it was pretty packed for a Monday lunch.Sadly, the food was lacking. Ordered the Kinnara sampler ... the crispy shrimp was exceptional, but the chicken satay was more like a kabob, the shumai dumplings were dense the spring rolls had too much wrapper compared to filling. Collectively, it was more of a small entree than a light fair appetizer.For an entree, I had the Street Pad Thai with chicken. A little heavy on the oil, but the flavor was good. I 'd go easy on the spice level next time as medium was basically hot for me. My friend had the Tom Yum soup loved it! She also had the Red Curry with chicken, but definitely needed more spice."

"Apart from the fact that it's a convenient walk from my house, this is some of the best Thai food I've had, and living in Portland with so many great options, that bar is fairly high. We got takeout, but during our brief visit we found the decor charming and welcoming (my toddler is in love with that pineapple plant by the door) and I'm certain we'll be back to sit down for a meal many times in the future."

The sauce is actually *really* good it definitely is what elevates the dish to amazing. Without the sauce, the steak is still really good great meat flavor chargrill flavor , but with the sauce, this dish becomes a go to every time.2. Keylime Seabass $40 : I actually didn't like this. The price is really high for the portion, and it was overwhelmingly sour from the lime. 3. Mushroom Tofu Terrific $16 : My wife is vegetarian so I gotta order some stuff for her, and this is one of my favorites. It's a salty mushroom and tofu dish, but it's absolutely amazing! The sauce is delicious, and the I like the texture of the mushroom and tofu. It's a great portion for its price, too. Highly recommend!4. Shrimp Panang Pumpkin Curry $16 $18 : So I've actually had the shrimp version and the vegetarian version exact same thing without shrimp . The shrimp doesn't really absorb the curry flavor, so it's basically the same curry. The flavor of the curry is amazing! I personally don't like pumpkin, but I'll eat around the pumpkin and my wife eats the pumpkin. The shrimp are large and tasty. If you want to order a curry, I highly recommend trying this one. The portion is good for its price.5. Crispy Hainan Chicken Garlic Rice $19? : This one is absolutely amazing in terms of portion, texture, and taste. You get a deep fried chicken sliced kind of like a chicken katsu. It's served on a bed of very garlicky rice. It's served with a sweet and sour sauce, and a light soup. My go to's are basically this and the crying tiger."

"My family and I came here on a Saturday night and were seated immediately! It was pretty empty when we went, so service was fast and the waitstaff was friendly. It was quiet to talk too, but food was pretty average. I'd say they definitely are stronger in their curry dishes compared to everything else. We ordered:1. Appetizer 1: Roti Canai smaller than expected; it seemed like they were from a frozen bag, to be honest. BUT the peanut curry sauce that came with it was tasty, more heavy on the curry flavor than peanut butter, but we enjoyed it!2. Appetizer 2: Chicken Satay also smaller than expected with just 4 mini skewers. However, the chicken was juicy and yummy, and came with the same peanut curry sauce. Both appetizers were $8. 3. Entree 1: Pad Kee Mow (Drunken Noodles) with chicken This was my favorite dish; the flat noodles were soft and chewy and flavorful. It had a great kick to it, so beware of spice! The chicken was a bit dry, but we ate it with our leftover peanut curry sauce and it was good.4. Entree 2: Panang Curry with pork The curry had super strong lemongrass flavor and coconut, but I like lemongrass so it was great to me. There was also a good mix of vegetables to meat, though the pork was too chewy for me.5. Entree 3: Sweet and Sour Fish you get to choose whether you want red snapper, tilapia, or salmon; we chose red snapper. The fish was super crispy and tender. However, this fish was a bit of a letdown because the toppings were too chunky and didn't exactly match the flavor of the sauce. Also, one of the toppings, pineapple chunks, were not fresh and definitely canned. The sweet and sour sauce was also a bit too runny and more on the sour end than sweet."

However, the main issue we encountered was that our dinner took two hours, which should typically take no more than an hour. We experienced long waits for both our food and our check. "Our dishes and cocktails were delicious and cheap. The service was unexpectedly wonderful – very attentive and accommodating; but the ambience was not entirely what we hoped. It was more of a late night bar vibe with loud music, although it was early on a Friday night and not crowded at all in the food section. The bar (in a separate part of the restaurant) was busy and crowded and I understand loud music there, but we wanted to talk while we ate, so it was jarring. Nevertheless, the friendly staff turned to our proposal, which really helped. Delicious bao bungalows and large “Kama Sutra” mango cocktail. Definitely worth a visit."

"Thai Opal is one of our favorite restaurants. I've loved everything I've tried although I am especially fond of the Garlic Stir Fried with Shrimp. Lots of big garlic slices. But what really sets Thai Opal apart is the attention to details. The beautiful plating of the food, the comfy cushions on the bench seats, the hot towels before the meal it's obvious that the owner really cares about the restaurant and wants to be sure guests have a great experience. Also, the Tom Yum Noodle Soup is tasty and my better half often gets the Panang Curry, which he loves. Highly recommend!"

Combine that with the fact this is the only restaurant I have seen with Iron Fist craft brew on tap and that in the evening the owner, Bill is his name, started playing with some killer lighting effects from his iphone to get just the perfect vibe to the music playing.
