"Order was not received like I ordered it. I got the 5 enchilada plate. Replaced bean one with a spicy meat one with chili con carne. It was supposed to have cheese and onions. There was a whisper of cheese, I asked for more, and no onions to be found. The cheese enchilada was also supposed to have onions but found none. Sent back when it came with the bean one not replaced with the spicy meat one. The flavors were nowhere near what I remember as a child, some 60 odd years ago! They even tasted like they had a hint of sugar in them. The chili con carne was horrid in my eyes. I asked for fresh avocado instead of guacamole on the avocado enchilada which was not. It came with the guacamole not as ordered. This was a very big disappointment to me for all the years I have come to El Chico. There was no real butter either. It used to come with tortillas and relish dishes in years gone by but alas, no more. You would think with today's prices that the restaurants would go the extra mile to please. Very sad experience also. Service was lacking. They only checked on me twice before asking for my check. Once to switch out bean enchilada for the spicy meat as ordered and once to ask how it was. I told them not good. They gave no notice to that. Did not get the chance to replace the guacamole one with fresh avocado. The whole restaurant was sad to look at. It had tiles in the middle of replacement with walls and floors showing rough spots where they had been removed and not replaced yet. In the middle of a remodel I guess? I probably will not go back. Vegetarian options: If you want vegetarian there are plenty of choices. I would stick to sauces with no meat in them and no sour cream or cream sauces if milk intolerant. The red and green sauces are probably good for this. Dietary restrictions: I asked for no tomatoes on my salad which they did. Parking: El Chico Pantego store at Park Row and Bowen, Pantego, Tx Kid-friendliness: Did not notice if they had high chairs or boosters seats but probably did? Wheelchair accessibility: Plenty of table space for wheelchairs and a handicap accessible stall in bathroom."

"We have been here a couple times and I usually just get tacos. Today I decided to get the Lunch Special “Siete”. Cheese Chimichanga with queso and a double order of rice. The Chimichanga was the WORST I had ever eaten. The cheese inside was just shredded cheese that wasn’t even melted and the deep fried tortilla was barely fried and still a little soggy. I voiced my concerns to the server, Maria, and she laughed but also said that she will tell her manager. No manager ever spoke to us to address my comment. I am highly disappointed in this experience. I can typically finish most foods that I eat but this was such a sad excuse for a chimichanga that I had no choice but to leave half of it for the garbage. That is where it truly belongs. This experience deserves a 1 Star rating. Pathetic."

"Food was ok, drinks had little to no alcohol( and yes they were alcoholic drinks), and the server was HORRIBLE. Whomever said this place has great service must not have had this guy. He paid more attention to the other guest then our table, never checkedon us to see if we needed anything, asked a question then walked away while it was being answered, and tossed the check on thetable without asking if we were done. We will NEVER come back to this place again"

"my wife and I came here to meet family, and we had amazing service. our waiter, I think his name is torry, went beyond and beyond! the sister of my wife has a son, and he was so amazing with him. very kind, very tender to the table. will definitely ask for his section at the next visit. he made our culinary experience a 10-star experience. the food was also very good. order and it was at the time in a very contemporary wise. 10/10 would definitely recommend!"

"my friend and I tried a few Mexican places before and nobody was to our joy. the menus had a lot of options, but the food we ordered was practically all the same, and the service between the places was quite rude. we have seen el chico some paintings, but had anxiety to try it, but when we decided to go, we did not regret to go earlier! the service was so friendly and friendly. it was a nice service I received in any restaraunt. the salsa was amazing, and our entrees came hot, fresh and tasty. the taste of eating was amazing. we are always planning for more and looking forward to it!"

"The restaurant staff were awesome. I told the owner/manager that, and I said how they operated like a finely tuned orchestra. He was really appreciative and took the time to tell me how he was blessed to have the staff he has. He told me how important El Chico is to him and how he started there at 15 and worked his way up to manager and owner. I could tell he really cares about his customers, the business and his employees. The food was really great. I had tacos and a beef enchilada with rice and beans and it was all perfectly cooked. I never had to ask for a refill. The wait staff, even in a busy environment, had eagle eyes, and they really hustled to get us everything we needed in a timely manner. I was super impressed. I live in Austin and my wife and I were visiting family in Abilene. If all of my family were to leave Abilene, El Chico would be reason enough to make the visit. Thank you for a great experience and your kindness."

"SAVE YOUR MONEY!!! We were extremely disappointed in this restaurant! As we walked in there was no greeting just how many? Even our waitress walked by us twice with out a word. She acted like she really didn’t want to be there. We waited 25 minutes until she took our order, then another hour or so to get our meal. She explained the kitchen issue to the people in back of us but failed to give us a heads up personally. The Chips were outstanding but left a greasy film on the top of our mouths but the salsa was great. We ordered the fajita one beef, chicken enchilada plate and the two beef enchilada’s and a side of queso. We weren’t even given a choice of a small or lg queso. By the time we finally got our dinner we filled up on chips. We weren’t that hungry and the beef had a strange teriyaki taste "

"I’m not surprised at how poor the service is. I’ve been here multiple times hoping it gets better, but leave disappointed. The hostess was solemn and rude, the waitress was timid and clueless. The manager came by but failed to inquire about the food. The rice is just barely cooked, the potions are minuscule compared to the price. The tortillas are garbage. The meat I assume has no flavor because it’s hiddrn under an overly powerful sauce. Cheese, what cheese? The only thing i enjoyed were the chips. This is a growing trend here In Lawton. Poor service matched with careless staff that put quantity over quality. There’s no pride in their work anymore. No wonder so many businesses go under."

"Consistently excellent food. Although we've recently moved out of the area, this was our favorite go-to restaurant while we lived here. One of our sons still resides here, so we make it a point to dine at El Chico’s whenever we visit. The chips and salsa are delicious. I always opt for the beef fajitas, while my wife enjoys trying different dishes from the menu, and she's always satisfied with her choices. We always request Felipe as our server. He's quite popular, so he tends to be busy, but to us, he's like a friend and provides outstanding service."

"I eat here every time I come to Ardmore. I'm driving a truck and I'm not always gonna eat in a nice restaurant. "The online menu does not accurately represent the food that is actually available. It seems they are in the process of switching menus but haven't made any updates on their website. Furthermore, nearly half of the options listed on the paper menu at the counter were unavailable. As a vegetarian, I found it particularly frustrating that the veggie sandwich I ordered was basically just a slice of cheese with minimal vegetables on a hot dog bun. Additionally, the chia pudding had an oddly chemical aftertaste. Overall, I cannot recommend this restaurant."
