"The restaurant staff were awesome. I told the owner/manager that, and I said how they operated like a finely tuned orchestra. He was really appreciative and took the time to tell me how he was blessed to have the staff he has. He told me how important El Chico is to him and how he started there at 15 and worked his way up to manager and owner. I could tell he really cares about his customers, the business and his employees. The food was really great. I had tacos and a beef enchilada with rice and beans and it was all perfectly cooked. I never had to ask for a refill. The wait staff, even in a busy environment, had eagle eyes, and they really hustled to get us everything we needed in a timely manner. I was super impressed. I live in Austin and my wife and I were visiting family in Abilene. If all of my family were to leave Abilene, El Chico would be reason enough to make the visit. Thank you for a great experience and your kindness."

This place is consistently fantastic! Juanita is always my waitress, and she knows exactly what I like to eat and drink. If you visit, be sure to ask for her—she's the best!

I must say, the service we received was outstanding! Everyone in the restaurant was incredibly friendly, and the food was fantastic. Our waitress, Chrissy, was exceptionally nice and did a wonderful job taking care of us. Kudos to El Chico's and a special shoutout to Chrissy for making our experience so enjoyable!

The meat was dry and crumbly, the tortillas could not be cut because they broke apart. Nothing was fresh. It was too Spicy. Tasted like a frozen dinner from the grocery store. I ordered online and the delivery driver had to tell me that they did not have the dessert that I ordered. I will never eat at this restaurant /location again. This was the first and last.

Food was okay, waitress was really nice and attentive. 14.99 for 4 pieces of fajitas that come on a small dish, with the rice and beans, seems a little too much, for that small of a portion of food. Flour tortillas were hard, and food made our stomachs hurt. We ended up in the rr most of the night. Other than that the atmosphere seemed nice. But we probably will not be returning. View menu

This is the most friendly restaurant. Caesar is very welcoming and another woman who said it was her restraunt. The waitress (Juanita, I think) was super sweet and informative about the menu. Free chips and salsa. Sweet tea was a little too sweet, and I'm a southern gal so that's saying something. I added a little water and was good. The food was delicious, fresh and hot. We will be back.

Outstanding, outstanding, outstanding, super quick service. Food was AMAZING, my plate alone was enough to feed me and an army. definitely impressed with the two that waited on me Cesar and Brandi 5 stars to each of them as well, keep up the good work El Chico's. Ohh and p.s. if you have a chance to roll through you need to try the top shelf guacamole dip 1st class food right there!! almost didn't save room for the rest of my food. lol

If I could give zero stars, I would. We went to El Chico for lunch today. We were sat at a booth at 2:45. As we were looking at the menu others were sat and brought chips and drinks. By 3:00, we still had not had a server come to our table to take a drink order. Several other waiters came by and refused to make eye contact with our table. Since no one would look at us, instead of asking for someone to take our order we left. No one even noticed we left. We were not acknowledged or thanked for coming. Will most likely not return based on this experience since their are many other restaurants in Abilene that will serve customers. View menu

This place was horrible. My family and I tried this place for the first time and it was awful and expensive. The waitresses were nice, I'll give them that. They sat us, greeted us, and took our orders in a timely matter and overall were super nice. But when the food was brought out, my plate was cold. I ordered the taco dinner and all of my tacos were cold. You could tell the flour tortillas had been sitting out for a while because not only were they cold, but they were stiff. One of my family members got a completely different order, the extra tortillas were burnt and falling apart, and the guacamole was brown and bad. Overall, there are better restaurants in abilene if you want Tex Mex. Bu...

I had not ate all day. Had cheese enchilada and beef burrito on special. Burrito was dry and bland. Enchilada was tough. Not easy to cut. Chicken tacos on appetizers were good. Youngest grandson got his cheese enchilada plate late as waitress forgot to turn in his order. When it came out it had chili sauce on it. Queso had been requested. Back to the kitchen . Comes back out correctly. By this time rest of family is through eating. On his second bite he looks up like he was going to throw up. He spit something into a napkin. He said there was something hard in that bite. He's done. Pushes his plate back. This child is ADHD with autism. An enchilada plate is the only plate of food he will eat...

"Multiple people recommended Krua Thai in Abilene and I can sure see why! One of them mentioned to grab it to go and I certainly didn 't understand this was a thing. There are only about 4 to 5 tables inside, and the staff will not move them together to accommodate larger parties. Your whole party must be present to be seated but you can tell they certainly prefer you to take your food to go. Regardless, we had seven of us who chose to be seated. You can definitely tell they are authentically Thai based on this level or lack thereof service. I love that the bottom of every page in the menu states food cannot be returned if too spicy . We ordered a little bit of everything- fried spring rolls, fried shrimp rolls, fried tofu, pad see ew, pad, Thai, panang curry, and Thai basil. Everything was incredibly delicious and this is one of the best Thai food restaurants I 've had in all of Texas. Their Thai tea is one of the best quality teas I 've had the pleasure of drinking, although it wasn 't as sweet as I would prefer. I would definitely chuckle given a Thai iced tea is 2.99 while a Thai tea with no ice is 4.99. We got everything with mild spice as we were certainly scared off between the signs around the restaurant and in the menu. It was the perfect spice for me as someone who enjoys a tiny kick. When you are finished, you pay at the front and they do not take any type of tap payments. I will definitely be back every time I pass through Abilene! Although I 'll likely take it to go next time!"
