"I have always had a good experience here but on Saturday the 18th, it couldn’t be worse. While the restaurant was what would be considered a normal flow of diners, my partner and I were standing at the podium for around 10 minutes just waiting to be seated. Not the biggest deal, it is what it is. Once seated our waiter was prompt with our drinks and after that the service went downhill very quickly. We ordered the all you can eat sushi for the two of us $72 and some change with tax included as the final bill). Once ordering the first roll it took 20 minutes to receive it and following that it took yet again another 20 minutes for the waiter to bring out the second roll. The Ginza roll we had ordered with eel sauce came out and had fruit flies/ gnats on top of it and hovering around the dish. Where we didn’t have any bugs around us prior to this, the sushi roll was the clear reason for the bugs. Our waiter was unfortunately not attentive and we were out of drinks after the first 20 minutes of us sitting down. When our waiter had finally come back to us, he asked if we wanted to order any other rolls and we told him we would need just a minute but we would like him to come back. Instead, he had dropped the bill on the table and never came back. Paying for the all you can eat sushi was not worth it as the wait time for the rolls was ridiculous and the quality was disappointing. The cost of the rolls without us paying for the all you can eat sushi came out to be way less and we had in fact paid more for the “all you can eat” than we would have for the rolls by themselves. It’s disappointing as we had intended to order more to get our money’s worth and just enjoy the sushi in general and we were unable to do so.The service was disappointing and it’s unfortunate because it is usually spot on and the food is always perfect. I’m not sure if it was just that night that things were not as great as they typically are, but either way, the Ginza roll with the fruit flies/gnats flying on and around it is not excusable."

"My family stopped by for lunch at Crazy Stone on a Sunday evening. We were on our way to an event in Boylston, MA, which was about 30 minutes away. Parking was ample. The mall strip that the restaurant share it's space with also had an Edible Arrangements, Deg's Cake, a candy store, and more. What convinced me to try them was the cherry blossom trees that decorated the restaurant. What I didn't expect was to be blown away by the stunning view of the Hager Pond when we were seated. I can only imagine what the pond will look like in a month when all of the lily begin to bloom. For appetizers, we ordered the All In Sampler, the Salmon Dream and the Aji Tataki. Presentation wise, the All in Sampler was the best. It also tasted the best. The only problem was eating it since the round tin would tip over inside of the glass goblet. A small spoon would have been appropriate to serve with this dish. Despite the plating mishap, this dish was delicious, everything was fresh. Although both the Salmon Dream and the Aji Tataki were delicious, however, both dishes were smothered in a savory sauce. I wanted the fish to stand out more. I probably wouldn't order these again but this does not mean you shouldn't try it since both were delicious. My family love salmon so my husband ordered three pieces of salmon belly nigiri and Sake Don. The salmon belly was fatty and melt in your mouth delicious. Each piece was garnished with shaved truffle and green onions. I highly recommend this nigiri for salmon lovers. The Sake don had plenty of salmon and ikura, both were fresh. Again, plating could use work. The daikon and tamago was chopped into cubes. Not sure if they did this for the kids but if this is how they serve it to adults, I'd skip this next time. I highly recommend ordering from the Chef special menu. I tried the Wagyu Egg Nigiri, Sweet Shrimp Ikura Nigiri, Hotate Nigiri, Madai Nigiri, Kinmedai Nigiri, Chu Toro Truffle Nigiri. All were delicious! No complaints! The plating so is cute with a little blue bird perched on a Sakura branch. No sake in the sake bottle though, just decorative. I would highly recommend this place for the special item menu and sushi, the interior decoration, and especially the stunning view of Hager Pond from the back of the restaurant windows. Service was adequate. See my pictures!"

"Hi My wife and I recently moved to the area and heard great thing about Bistro Wasabi but didn 't think that a sushi restaurant in a strip mall would be all that compared to the bigger, more extravagant brick and mortar establishments. For an anniversary celebration, we searched for a sushi place that was nearby and Bistro Wasabi was highly ranked (and a close friend had previously recommended it to us) so we thought we 'd give it a try. Some of the reviews had mentioned they had made their reservations and (then) shared their reviews. Not thinking this (strip mall) restaurant would really need a reservation on an early Saturday evening, upon walking in, we could see quite a few empty tables and when asked by the host (who we eventually learned was way more than just that) asked if we had reservations. When we had responded saying no, but would that be an issue (seeing the few empty tables), her response was actually, I 'm sorry but we 're booked until closing. She did offer that there were a couple of seats available at the sushi bar and if we wanted, we could sit there. We obliged. From start to finish, we thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience and although the restaurant 's layout was small but decent, the ambiance and displayed art deco all around was fantastic and rather unexpected for its location in a strip mall. A comment we later had shared about the lack of waitstaff was obvious (which explained the few empty tables) but the one who did everything from hosting and seating to waiting EVERY occupied table and seat at the sushi bar to running the register to handling the to-go orders and ensuring everyone was satisfied with their service was simply amazing, super polite, efficient and although I 'm sure she was well beyond exhausted at the end of her shift, she should be given a medal and honored as the most capable person of redefining what it means to do more than any person should ever be expect to be expected to do (mind you, all at once and for hours on end)!!! Overall, this is certainly The diamond in the rough in Hoffman Estates and with a single employee who is worthy of the respect and recognition of everyone who ever is to be so fortunate to visits this Bistro!"
