"Tarpon Springs is an interesting place to visit. There 's an odd mix of tourists, locals, and out-of-towners that keeps the area feeling like a tourist trap, but still maintains a certain local charm. Being a settlement of the Greeks back in the day for sponge diving, there is certainly no shortage of Greek themed food establishments. Yeah, some famous named TV chef endorses this one restaurant, and some slightly famous food video blogger raves about another, blah blah. But there is a nice, slightly off the path gem called Costa 's right there in the center of town. First, the service. perfect every time. Nice, friendly, and prompt. Second, the prices are very reasonable. Third, the food is quite simply the best Greek/Mediterranean cuisine on the planet. Portions are more than sufficient to satisfy the largest appetites. Always start with the Saganaki (flaming cheese). We 've had so many wonderful dishes here. The Mousaka will blow your mind! The lamb shank can almost feed two. The Souvlaki (chicken or pork) is so juicy and tender and comes with a ton of garnishes. Their Greek salad is a work of art and comes with a dressing that nears a religious experience. Let 's talk Gyro meat for a second. There are so many variations and recipes for a good Gyro. But, Costa 's has the absolute best Gyro meat on the planet. The seasonings aren 't over bearing and the meat is always glistening with juices and so very tender. When in Tarpon Springs, get away from the dolphin cruise barkers and redundant tourist gift shops for a bit and sit your butt down at Costa 's for grub. You will NOT leave hungry, guaranteed. I would recommend doing a dolphin cruise, BEFORE eating though. There are no public facilities on Anclote Island and the accommodations on the dolphin cruises would be less than desirable for any such... needs ."

"For our second visit, the host and staff cordially seated us in the dining room, attended to us promptly and afforded us a personal visit from the friendly owner. We had read that alcoholic beverages are now being served, a wonderful and anticipated change from our first visit. Bottled water with a basket of pita and chopped marinated red pepper were offered as a complimentary starter while we reviewed the options for our meals. The menu is extensive and the portions are ample. For an appetizer, my wife I enjoyed authentic falafel with humus and arugula accompanied with a sour cream topping. Unlike what we’ve eaten in other restaurants that serve this delicacy, our appetizer was savory, nicely presented and tasted better than any we’ve had in the Capital District. For our main dishes, my wife, a vegetarian, had the eggplant salad platter with baby baked potatoes, cherry tomatoes, ample cheese topping and a sizable green salad. My dinner meal was the branzino filets, delicately and artfully arranged mashed potatoes and a green salad. Both meals were served on large plates and very hot. Neither plate had any leftovers! Completing our meal were a serving of pistachio baklava and a pot of decaffeinated rooibos tea. The ambiance and excellent service by Sean made for an extremely favorable impression on us during this follow up visit. Needless to say, we highly recommend this restaurant, and we’ll be back!"

"I experienced true Greek cooking with a modern flair at the newest location of @vaskouzina. They have two locations: downtown Roswell and the newer, larger location in Alpharetta. As soon as you walk in you are transported to Greece with the music, the ambiance, and the food. Whole fish are sitting atop ice for your choosing as you walk to your table. Such a great spot for a date night or to take your out of town friends. I was most impressed by the Saganaki which is aflaming cheese that literally comes out on fire and the chargrilled Lavraki which is a whole Mediterranean sea bass that is deboned tableside by the chef! You have to check this place out. The layout is absolutely beautiful. I love thatyou can do a little shopping before or afterward at the in store market that is stocked with Greek oils and other essentials to elevate your at home meals. The baklava bites and cheesecake for dessert was the icing on top! This was some ofthe freshest seafood that I have ever had. Everything was so flavorful and delicious and the atmosphere was fantastic. I will definitely be back. Thank you for having me! Pictured: Whole Fish: Lavraki whole Mediterranean sea bass prepared over chargrill and basted with Greek olive oil, lemon, and oregano Kouzina: Bone In Chicken Breast chargrilled and stuffed with goat cheese and roast red peppers, honey fig balsamic drizzle Cheese: Saganaki flaming cheese, pita points Salata: True Greek tomato, cucumber, feta, kalamata olives, onion, oregano, vinegar, EVOO Baklava: Layers of Phyllo Dough, Honey and Walnuts with a Honey Drizzle Would you try the fish or chicken? "First, the food: we started spreads with pita and Greek salad that were good, shrimp Santorini was ok but shrimp were over cooked and only smothered in tomato sauce whereas traditionally, there is feta cheese also. We ordered chicken and gyro wraps and opted for lemon potatoes instead of fries. The gyro was decent but the way it is cut lead is to believe it is frozen and pre-cut, not shaved off of an actual vertical broiler as is the traditional way. The chicken kebab was dry and inedible. The lemon potatoes tasted like they had been pulled from a refrigerator and microwaved as they were dry and mealy on the outside and still cold on the inside. We don’t complain and it could be because we went during an off time at 4 pm as we were the only patrons other than one other table in the place. Our server was nice but not very knowledgeable about the food and when describing the difference between a platter and a wrap (aside from being $3-5 more than a wrap was that it’s the same thing as the wrap, just deconstructed so it’s not as messy…doesn’t seem like a good reason to spend more on it then. We ordered galaktoboureka for dessert and the custard was lumpy and did not set correctly, the phylo dough was dry and not soaked in honey as it should be…horrible to say the least. That was the Bad. Now for the ugly: when it came time to pay, I gave her my card and she proceeded to charge it, and I knew it was charged as I have my account set up to give me alerts whenever there is a charge to the card. She claimed that the card was declined and handed me six transaction receipts that said card declined: duplicate transaction. I said that the charge went through and showed her my bank info and alert that proved it but she assured me it didn’t go through and my only recourse was to call my bank and tell them to put a stop payment on the charge (admitting there was indeed a charge? and asked me for a different card which I gave her and she proceeded to try a different terminal as she said the one she was using behind the bar always gives her trouble. The second charge went through and we left with a literal and figurative bad taste in our mouth. I called the credit card company the following day and they assured me that a charge was indeed occurred and I had to submit a fraud report and will have to wait 90 days to hear the outcome of their investigation. I called the restaurant to speak with a manager and she told me that there was nothing that they could do as they did not see two charges on their end and pretty much told me I am out of luck.I am writing this review as a buyer beware warning. Gyromania or gyroville have better tasting and fresher food for a fraction. Of the price unless uninspired and mediocre food along with theft of your money is your thing. My opinion, pass this place by if you’re looking for Greek food."
