"While visiting the area, we decided to try this place. Although this restaurant is nicely laid out and decorated in pleasant contemporary lighting and artwork, in my opinion, it is overpriced, and the taste and quality of the food is severely lacking. Maybe I 'm spoiled by my favorites in my hometown, but I was surprised that others had rated this very highly, and especially in upscale Brentwood. We both had the green salad, which was confirmed to be ginger salad, but was anything but green, and the saddest salad I think I 've ever had. It consisted of torn white pieces of iceberg lettuce, two slices of cucumber without skin, and ginger dressing , which was something creamy in texture, but I would never equate to ginger in any way. Likewise, the miso soup was a bit flavorful, but contained scant pieces of seaweed, scallion and the tiniest cubes of tofu I 've ever seen. My husband had the chicken fried rice which was virtually tasteless; it contained no vegetables, (the usual carrots, peas, bean sprouts, etc. , and was served with something I would liken to thousand island dressing as a dipping sauce(? . I had the tempura vegetables, which consisted of a nice selection of sweet potato, asparagus, mushroom, onion, and broccoli. The tempura coating was more like a thin beer batter, but still crispy, and the typical sweet dipping sauce was not quite as I expected, but still fairly good. I also had two orders of sashimi salmon and tamago (Japanese sweet omelette . Although they were probably the best part of my meal, the pieces were terribly small for the price. That said, the ONLY reason I would possibly give a 3 star rating is because our server, Lydia, was exceptional; and we were her very first customers as a server. She was knowledgeable, articulate, and demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills; unlike a few others who didn 't seem to acknowledge anyone at the door, or the tables. Needless to say, we won 't be returning."

"We went there with our $50 Opentable Gift card that I had redeemed earlier that day for this particular restaurant. From Yelp it seemed like a good place to pick to spend $50 so we went there quite excited and looking forward to it. We ordered, got ready to eat and then told the waiter we also had the $50 gift card. Keep in mind this is a CASH equivalent that obviously they've struck a deal with Opentable to extend to patrons. Well after about 10 minutes of a flurry of activity, the waiter comes back and says we don't honor these anymore. I said, this isn't a Groupon deal this is a gift card (and even it was a Groupon deal, you can't just stop honoring them that's ridiculous). So he went back again. Eventually I don't know if it was the head of the restaurant or the manager, etc...whatever. They came back and said they can't get through to Opentable so they can't honor it. Funny, I was on the phone with Opentable all that time (after I realized these people aren't going to follow through with honoring our gift card) to let OT know they are trying to screw us. Needless to say, we didn't dine there. The service was appalling and disgraceful. If they are not going to honor gift cards and such they should not be signed up on OT's system. OT was nice enough to refund our gift card to be used for another restaurant. But it also puts into question the quality of communication OT has with restaurants and how well they understand what gift cards are."
