"Rough start, fine finish. We started at the bar, while waiting for a table. The bar staff was 50/50. The knowledge was there but one half of the duo was ready to go home. My dining partner tried the Grapefruit Margarita and I obstained to wait for the table. When we moved the bar staff pulled a d**k move, that I won't address here because I commented on it to the house host and management apologized and offered to correct the action shortly after we were seated at our table. I'll be honest in saying that the management's response saved the night from going sour. I'm finicky and never afraid to make a point of a mistake. The management's response was spot on and, though I did not desire to accept the corrective action that was offered, the attention to detail was appreciated. The server at our table setting was spectacular. My partner was knee deep in their Margarita, which was above average, when I ordered a flight of Milagros tequila. The flight came out in ample pours for a tasting. I'd had them all before, downed them swiftly and ordered a surprise. I put in for their habenaro guava margarita which was a very impressive example of modern mixology. The salted seafoam top played beautiful contrast to the earthy guava pulp. My partner joined me in a second round later but first we app'ed with the mango chipotle guac and Tex Mex Queso with chorizo. The guac was a fresh springy change we both enjoyed with subtle sweetness that wasn't contrived. It was served warm which, if it was not an accident from time under the heatlamp, was actually smart. It softened The flavors. The queso was more Tex and less Mex. It thickened quickly being short of stock in its base but was fine otherwise. We followed with the lamb cheek tacos which desired a little bit of the wonderful tomatillo salsa that was served as an accoutrement; and served drizzled on the taco. It was fantastic. The refried black beans we're above average requiring no additional seasoning. My partner ordered beef fajitas which came out as an incredible spread. The 6-ounce portion was more than fulfilling and my partner found them to be well above average. We were both impressed with the slaw; which had great crunch/snap. We were both especially impressed with the house flour tortillas which is something I am particularly finicky about; being preferential to corn due to the lack of restaurants that give consideration to a quality flour tortilla. Overall we found the proportions to be fantastic for the price. Aside from our minor service experience at the bar the evening was pretty exceptional and I'm surprised to see that this place has such a low rating. Given that I am such a Critic I decided to start at four stars with plans to revisit; and hopes for a higher rating. I think they can do it. The parking was tight but that's what you expect in Midtown. We waited about 10 minutes for seating at roughly 8:30 p.m. on a Thursday night which is pretty expectable in Midtown. Our only facility complaint would be that the patio area was closed for the evening. I would recommend this place for anyone seeking a contemporary Latin cuisine in Oklahoma City. For the most part the menu is tapas style and is quite easy to share. The drink menu is incredibly thoughtful. If you're looking for easy snacks and drinks with a small group or even a partner this place is definitely worth your consideration. I consider this a wonderful addition to the Midtown dining experience in Oklahoma City and I look forward to trying it again."
