"What a find! This well established Japanese restaurant has a separate, SIX page separate vegan menu, using vegetables, veggie meats, and the vegan tuna product called Ahimi for some of its sushi and hot dishes. Their menu has more options than most fully vegan Japanese restaurants! If you haven't tried it yet, Ahimi is made by a vegan company called Ocean Hugger and is made from tomatoes and looks like raw tuna without the fishy taste, and has a super smooth mouth feel. So yummy! We have really enjoyed all of the specialty rolls which are all beautifully prepared (see accompanying pics). I personally much preferred the Satay Roll to the Siesta Roll because I found the mango salsa a bit overpowering on the Siesta. Other favorites were the Veggie Thunder Roll, Super Green, and Hippie Roll. A number of the rolls and nigiri use tempura vegetables so there's an added punch. The Gyoza (dumplings) were pan fried and wonderful. We tried the Hibachi Teriyaki Tofu which was great if you're up for a BIG dose of fresh tofu. The Gardein Chicken and Herbivorous Butcher Steak entree was more interesting and really tasty. We also had the vegan KimChi Udon noodles which was very good but I would be better with less oil. Overall I think the vegan sushi is the real specialty of this place and besides the Gyoza, I would be perfectly happy just doing an all sushi dinner here and going lighter on the hot dishes. When we ate there preCOVID, the restaurant was spacious but very comfortable, and service was very attentive. Ask for Kim if you call to place an order. She curated the vegan menu and was super helpful, although isn't there every night. Updated from previous review on 20210217"

"The restaurant has a very cute, trendy vibe with an intimate dining room. Btw, parking can be a challenge but if you luck up get a parking spot directly outside the restaurant on Lancaster Avenue, it's free. The ramen...WOW! I had every intention of taking some home but nope...ate every last bit there! As a pescaterian, majority of the ramen dishes had pork broth BUT there was about 3-4 chicken/vegetable/shrimp ramen bowls. Since I had the Vegetable Miso Ramen on my 1st visit (highly recommend! , I tried the Green Curry Ramen and this dish too measured up! There's a full bar and I definitely want to return to try their sushi which I hear is great too. Ishmael was a great server! The only reason I'm giving Ramen Bar a 4 instead of 5 stars is because I asked for a little hot sauce to add to my ramen and the young lady gave me Bakudan which was delish but an additional $3 and didn't even advise beforehand (total pet peeve of mine ! I never heard of an additional charge for hot sauce and even so, generally a condiment charge is only $1-2; $3 is pretty steep. But go figures because if you add shrimp to the Vegetable Miso Ramen it's an additional $7. I guess they don't care about making things reasonable even though the restaurant is located on Drexel's campus. Also it would be nice if Ramen Bar's Happy Hour pricing returned like it had pre-pandemic (the HH menu is still on the restaurant's IG page ."

"I had an incredibly disappointing experience at this establishment. They refuse to allow service dogs inside. Our dog, who is a highly-trained hearing service dog, is used to sitting quietly in public spaces, including bar stools, and there was plenty of room for us. The restaurant was practically empty except for two other patrons, yet we were denied entry because of our dog. Today was cold and rainy, and I wanted to sit indoors, out of the elements due to my arthritis. Despite seeing our large service dog, the staff member dismissed us by claiming there wasn't enough room and suggested we sit outside instead. It was clear that we had chosen to come after the lunch rush intentionally, and the denial felt both unwarranted and discriminatory. We have reported this incident to the Oregon American Disabilities Act authorities, as this is both illegal and unacceptable behavior. We won't engage with ignorance; instead, we are ensuring others are aware of this discrimination. We'll be sharing our experience across all social media platforms—Google, Yelp, Facebook, Instagram, and others—to inform anyone needing service animals to steer clear of this place. This experience led us to a wonderful alternative called Red Curry just across the street. The food was delicious, and the staff were welcoming and accommodating to our service dog, even providing her with a bowl of water. There are many other ramen options available, and we will choose to support those instead. This restaurant has lost potential repeat customers due to their discriminatory practices. Discrimination in this day and age is truly disappointing, and it reflects poorly on their reputation. We may never know how good their food is, but given the circumstances, our business will go elsewhere. Parking: Extremely difficult to find parking here. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Parking options: Free lot, but very challenging to navigate."
