"From the moment I walked into this restaurant, I was greeted by the kindest human being, Mike, who showed me to my table upstairs. He was extremely friendly and recommended some of the best drinks and food on the menu. And let me tell you, the food and drinks were truly exceptional.We started off with the catfish nuggets with the remoulade sauce, and I have to say that I have never tasted anything like it before. The batter was fried to perfection, and the catfish was absolutely amazing. We then moved on to the chicken and waffles, which came with several different sides. The waffle was fluffy, moist and had the perfect flavor to combine with the delicious chicken. For sides, I highly recommend the cabbage, grits, and mac and cheese. This was my first time trying grits, and I don't think I can ever eat them anywhere else without being disappointed. The cabbage was also nothing like I've ever had before, and it was simply delicious.To top it all off, the chef came to our table to chat with us about his passion for cooking and the story behind his style of food. Chef O has been cooking since he was young, having learned from his grandmother, and has also received formal culinary training. You can truly see his passion reflected in the food.Overall, this is one of the best soul food restaurants I have ever been to, and I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for exceptional food and outstanding service. Even if you have to make a long drive to get there, it's definitely worth it."

"I like the location of this facility because it brings different types of people to the area. The parking lot is a hot mess. You could be better at the parking lot. I love her menu having so many options. Your food is good. The drinks are good, but the bartender must learn how to have all drinks the same amount. I ordered the same drink as someone sat next to me, but I gave a smaller cup and a smaller amount, but I had to pay the same price. I gave three stars because of very stuffed and narrow and minimal parking. And they are waiters could use a more friendly customer service training. Every time I visited this establishment, at least five waiters would go from me, sitting on a high table, as I need service, without knowing or asking if I need help. Sometimes I feel like I'd harass her to fly someone to submit an order. They fluff the men very easily. But if you are a female, good luck with the same energy and attention."

"It's rare I can find absolutely flawless, quality soul food outside of the kitchens of my family. This place defies that! I love their food and the portions are generous. The owner is friendly and so is the atmosphere. It's quaint, I have never dined in. But i wait inside happily for my order. The food makes the bang worth the buck! The turkey wings fall off the bone, so flavorful with dressing/stuffing tucked underneath. The macaroni and cheese is cheesy and the yams are the perfect match. I'll be back again."

"I had the worst breakfast experience ever! The man who answered the phone was quite rude, and I’m not sure if he was the owner. The eggs were just fried with some cheese thrown in the center. The hash browns and sausage tasted like they came straight from the freezer, and the pancakes seemed to be made with a strange type of wheat flour. I don’t know if there’s been a change in ownership, but I definitely won't be returning!"

"I wanted some soul food for Sunday dinner so I came here since I was in the area. It was around 6 pm and the place wasn't crowded, no long line. It's decorated nicely with lots of license plates from Mississippi.Now let's get down to why I gave them 3 stars. Two ladies had placed their orders before I came and warned me to not get my hopes up high if I came for ox tails, Greens, or pork chops. Should have listened to the warning. But me thinking... I'm not here for ox tails or chops, I ordered smothered chicken, green beans, black-eyed peas and rice, and candied yams. And another order of catfish, green beans, Mac and cheese. Paid 45 dollars and some change. Sat down and waited for my order. As I sat I looked at my receipt and noticed that fried chicken not smothered was on the receipt. Had to get up and correct it. Then about 15 mins in I'm told no more yams. What? After I paid. They had a sign stating no refund, so I had to choose from what they had left on the menu. I WAS BIG DISAPPOINTED!!! I received fried chicken with gravy on top which was too salty for my liking. I ended up getting the potato salad instead of the yams which were ok. Tasted like store-bought and docked up. Everything else was OK. My boyfriend enjoyed his catfish dinner. He said the mac and cheese was wack but enjoyed the rest of his plate.I'm one for a 2nd try any place can have a bad day. Hope I can catch them on a good day!"

"We were very disappointed with our favorite restaurant!. We went to Zanzibar Soul Fusion for an early dinner on Saturday night (6/15/13). We arrived very early, around 4:30 and were seated outside on the patio in Zanzibar 's new location, which was previously Sergio 's Sarava. It took our waitress, Sandra, a while to get to us. There were two other tables occupied on the patio and she had the whole section. We ordered appetizers: fried green tomatoes and Soul Rolls. Both arrived cold and obviously having sat in the window for a while as the lettuce was wilting under each dish. The tomatoes were greasy! We never got appetizer dishes and, instead had to eat off of the serving dishes. My cousin asked about a specific martini. Our waitress told us they didn 't make that drink but that she would bring us martini menus. The martini menus never arrived, with Sandra missing her first chance to up our checks and her tip! We ordered and she never asked us what we wanted to drink, missing another chance to up our bottom lines. Our food was brought out by a different server. We both ordered the chicken and waffles, our favorite dish there. The waffles were raw in the middle and the chicken was gamy and overcooked (like it had sat and been reheated), as were the greens my cousin ordered a la carte. We mentioned the underdone waffles and over-done, old tasting chicken, and tough greens to Sandra and she said okay and walked away. The next time we saw her she was bringing our checks. Sandra never offered or tried to sell dessert to us; yet another time she could have up-sold us but didn 't. Every time we finished our waters, we had to ask for refills which were slow in coming. All of this being said, we will go back to Zanzibar, because this is the first real problem we have had there. I must say that every other time we have gone (in their old location, next to the movie theater) the owner has been present and we know he could not have been there this past Saturday because he is a stickler for customer service and quality so this latest experience was a real shock! We know he was not present when we were there or these things would have been rectified, immediately! Is it because they have not settled in to the new location? Is there someone new in the kitchen? Does the staff need some retraining? All of these are possible reasons for the breakdown in service and quality but none of them are excuses!"

"My cousin C.B. invited me to lunch to which I gracefully accepted. She asked if I ever heard of a Soul Food Chess. I said no. She said you'll like it. C.B's a food connoisseur. We're so alike because she does NOT play games when it comes to food! So I trust her.When we arrived first thing that hit me before we even opened the door was the tantalizing smell of food!! It automatically whet my appetite. Upon entering this establishment we were greeted by the owner, who was a friendly gentleman. I asked him how was the collards prepared he said they didn't use any meat to make them. I liked that!C.B. knew what she wanted immediately ordered smothered Turkey Wings, (2 sides: Mac Cheese, Potato Salad, (2 Waters. I ordered Oxtails, (2 sides: cabbage, collards, (1 Water.C.B. I added Cornbread to the order afterward. It didn't take long to receive our orders. I said a prayer thanked God for our meal.When I opened the container I was stunned food portions were very generous! I also had multiple meaty pieces of large sized Oxtails with next to NO FAT! I was absolutely flabbergasted! (If you know.. You KNOW!! C.B. I shared samples of food with each other, then we dug in. I really enjoyed my meal, it was well seasoned. The food was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, REALLY DELICIOUS!! We both couldn't eat all of our food in one sitting. Mine served me (2 more times! I HIGHLY recommend this place.Vegetarian options: The flesh free collards were fantastic!"

"We visited Jay Bird for a friends Birthday party. We started the night off with their signature drink the Jay Bird which looks pretty and tastes great we subbed out the Ciroc for Tito 's for our preference. We also got the steak bites for our appetizer which came with peppers and onions (nice touch) the sauce it comes with is A1. We wanted their Lobster Bisque Fries but the sauce for them wasn 't done yet so that was a disappointment. My husband got the lamb chops they were good and I got the turkey chops fried. Our sides were mac and cheese, greens, and a baked sweet potato. They give you 1/2 a sweet potato, I was fine with that because their was plenty of other food. We ordered Green Tea drinks and a Fruity cocktail that was better than the Jay Bird to me. Overall we 'd come here again. The service was okay she did a great job to have a large party. They also have a live band on Wednesdays the band was great!! They let us know they have a DJ on other nights. Cool place for a date night. Sorry for only the one picture I was hungry."

"Hi, I have been going to M&M for about 25 years. I never been disappointed for most of their food. The food is great, especially the desert peach cobbler. The gumbo crabs well it tastes good But they put tiny crab legs in there too where is no meat. I asked for extra crab meat I was charged $5 And I could have kept my $5 they gave tiny tiny legs And no shrimps. I had so much chicken in there. that's the only complaint I have about it They don't give you enough crabs and shrimps. I won't be ordering their gumbo no more"

"Bold Service! Ordered crablegs , no utensils to crack open the clusters ! Ordered a purple Rain drink an charged 6$ for the supposedly using chambord,which is a liqueur and how do you charge extra for something that goes in a drink (standard) Ask for water which came 20mins later..had to ask for napkins as we were eating! Then to top it all off to get a carry out container for the food you didnt finish eating !!! It was $5.00 for a to go container to wrap up the food! It's disappointing when you go support your local business in your neighborhood! We need to do better!!!!"

"I ordered from Mama's Southern Style BBQ yesterday and I wasn't pleased. I ordered 1/4 chicken 1/4 beef ribs with 2 sides of 1/2 pint of green beans and 1/2 pint of potato salad. In addition, I requested a pint of Mac Cheese, a pint of Spanish rice, a pint of sweet yams, and three additional cornbreads with hot bbq sauce on the side. I was expecting the plate that was given to me to only have the meat I ordered and the sides in the 1/2 pints on the side. Instead, I received a little portion of the two types of meats with one serving of Mac Cheese and one serving of Yams. The potato salad was missing from my original order. The menu itself is confusing and overpriced. The young women who answer the line weren't that pleasant. I was placed on hold to speak to someone else. If they're going to answer the phone lines, please advise your customers what they're getting in each small platter. This meal I ordered should have been sold as I was told. My meat should have been only in the tray and the sides should have been in the 1/2 pints. I paid 76 dollars for little food. Very disappointing."

"The macaroni and cheese was terrible. The cheese wasn't even melted; it looked like little crumbles scattered throughout the dish, and the noodles were just loose. The rest of the food was decent, but I'm not sure what's been happening lately. The last few times I ordered the mac and cheese, it hasn't been good at all. I've had it before, and it was much better. In this batch, the cheese didn't melt at all. I've called twice to let them know, but no one answered."

"The venue is compact, featuring a bar, a photo opportunity space, and a DJ area. Booth seating wraps around the main area, complemented by tables for four and a small food service area. Unfortunately, the floors were sticky, which made the Electric Slide a bit tricky to navigate. The bathrooms could use some updates. That said, it was an ideal spot for our small family gathering. The food was decent, and the variety was quite nice. While it's a great place for an intimate get-together, I honestly have my reservations about returning. On the upside, parking was convenient and sufficient, and the servers and staff were very accommodating."

"I've been supporting Ms. Debbie since before she opened her restaurant. My top choices are the fried chicken wings, turkey wings served over rice with gravy, potato salad, and yams. "I can't believe how inexpensive this place is!!! $7.49 for Grilled Chicken Omelette with Hash Brown (as of 12/2014). THEY EVEN HAVE SHRIMP GRITS!! WOW! We were greeted at the door with a GENUINE smile by all the staff. This continued throughout the course of the meal. The food was very good, a lot for the buck and I highly recommend this restaurant . This will be my new eatery. "
