"The owners of Ann Tony's Restaurant pride themselves in treating their customers like family, and they do it with aplomb. The atmosphere is comforting and the staff is welcoming and gracious. But the food (the FOOD! is sensational. The restaurant is located in a favorite neighborhood, Little Italy the Bronx. Here, the streets are lined with excellent Italian restaurants, a farmers' market, ethnic stores; locals of all ages speak Italian, and a visitor is apt to feel that they are somewhere other than New York. Ann Tony's menu tells the story of their establishment. Since 1927, the restaurant has been handed down from one generation to the next, and I declare you can feel (and taste the history. When trying a new Italian restaurant, we tend to order at least a sampling of the more traditional dishes (a marsala, a Bolognese, a parmigiana to make a comparison with similar restaurants, and with our own Italian gourmet cooking. Here we enjoyed the cold antipasto (prosciutto, mozzarella, sopressata, provolone garnished with cucumber, olives oil vinegar , and the clams casino (stuffed with bacon and roasted peppers . An entree was the Veal Chicken Rollatini Combo (cutlets of each stuffed with prosciutto and mozzarella, served in a Marsala mushroom sauce. Wonderfully delicious! (In fact, I'm fairly sure that a little tear rolled down my cheek after the first bite... Fresh ingredients perfectly prepared with just the right amount of gravy. We look forward to dining here again on one of our regular trips to this unique and special borough of Manhattan."
