"Great location, very good service and thats where it ends. The margaritas are so bitter you can’t taste the alcohol, even when you ask for hi-end spirits you can’t get past the bitter mix. Margaritas are easy Easy, tequila, fresh squeezed juice, simple syrup, an orange flavored liquor, weather it’s triple sec, Cointreau or Grand Marnier. Add the salt, it’s pretty simple. “Rib Eye” Fajita? It was so overcooked and salty. The vegetable were overcooked but accountable compared to the “ribeye”. The taco salad was average. "I just left feeling incredibly satisfied! We enjoyed chicken and shrimp with chipotle chimichangas, as well as a half chicken, half beef taco salad. They were the best chimichangas and taco salad we've ever had! I must mention that Ellie truly made our experience special. She helped us customize our meal while always wearing a smile and maintaining a wonderfully friendly attitude. "Like El Nopals food. Service is usually decent, although they don 'tseem to understand what put the condiments on the side mean.Be cautious when asking for your items like Sour Cream, dollop of guacamole, and Onion on the side. They charge for a bowl full. (Even if these items are included in your meal. Mind you, Im not asking for EXTRA!!!! )I ordered a quesadilla relena which comes with a little salad, a dollop of sourcream . I asked for the dollop on the side instead of ON my salad. $2.25!Same thing with guacamole. I asked for it on the side....$7.50 for a bowl full. Just wanted the normal portion, just on the side!! We also ordered a chicken quesadilla without stewed peppers and onions and asked for fresh onion on it. They brought a whole bowl full of onions and charged us $2.25.A meal that should have been $26 was nearly $40 before the tip.Seems like a way to increase sales. I dont want to take 4 oz of sour cream or a finely diced onion home. Just one oz for my meal while I eat in your restaurant! Same with onions!El Nopal, please consider the use of ramikins for condiments when people ask for items on the side. No one ordering a plate of food with items on the side that come on it expects the extreme upcharge. Just bring one ramiken of sour cream, not the 4 oz container."

"Wow, I can't believe how amazing this place is! A friend recommended I try the beef taco, which comes with the same rich gravy that the beef is cooked in. I have to say, I was not disappointed at all! It was so delicious, and the Jamaica drink— as my Mexican friend calls it— was spot on. "Dinner tonight was prettty good! Quite crowded on a Friday eve and we did have to wait 45 mins for our food but the generous chips and salsa kept us occupied! I liked my marg but it was pretty standard in flavor and price. Our vegetarian entrees were both decent, veery cheesey and the side salad was fresh and a good crisp addition to the meal. Churros were also good and a steal- $4 for 4. Dinner prices were very reasonable. Our server Aaliyah did a great job despite the rush! Pleasantly surprised by Senor Patron for texmex."

"Customer service is non existent! The jerk taking the orders and working up front did not put our online orders in, not just one order but two, then said I got busy and forgot to put the orders in it?s okay I will put them in now. There were maybe 3 tablesof customers ???? No I?m sorry nothing just blew it off and could have cared less. Then after we waited for about 20 moreminutes for our food and were told we could have margaritas while we wait, supposedly no charge for the inconvenience, we wereagain insulted by having to prove we paid for our online orders. Obviously he was not competent enough to take the order and putit in so why expect him to be able to read and see we already paid. Then gives us a ticket for the margaritas! These were compdue to the inconvenience, he said no they are not free. This was discussed with him and the waiter. He was belligerent and rudeto all 3 of us! I have never in my life! The one order that was ready was cold, the other order was the wrong food and wasdisgusting and mine was the only one that was okay. My friend called back to address the incorrect order and got no where buthung up on! The food is not good anyway so none of us will ever be back! I guess that explains why the place is empty when wepick up our food! I?m sure this will be the next business to fold and all because of rude and nasty people running it! Plenty ofother way better Mexican restaurants and I would recommend going to one of those if I were you!"

"I haven't visited this location in five years, and I'm happy to report that the service is just as good—if not better—than I remembered! The third plate took an additional five minutes to arrive, and we still didn't have utensils. Our server never checked on us or refilled our drinks, and I had to flag him down to get the check and a takeout box. For context, there were only three other tables with two people each, along with ours. Overall, dinner took over an hour and a half. On a positive note, the atmosphere was pleasant—well-lit, modern, tastefully decorated, and clean. It’s an upscale establishment with higher prices, but they serve huge portions, and the food was delicious. Unfortunately, the service left much to be desired."

"Yes, yes, there are trendier Mexican places to be found in the country that are truly 5-star places (Rick Bayless,etc. but when you’re traveling across the country and stopping for the night in the little town of Edwardsville outside of St Louis, those places aren’t an option. But what is, is a bright spot hidden inside a strip mall, with fun decor, great prices and food abundance (see pic , and service that will still be nice even if you show up 15 min. before closing on a Sunday night.
