"I’ve been to The Otheroom before and always had great experiences, but my recent visit was disappointing. On Friday, I ordered a glass of Chardonnay from the five or so options on the menu. When I went to pay, I noticed they were charging me $16, but the board listed it as $12. I politely pointed this out to the bartender, who checked the bill and said, "Oh, I gave you the more expensive wine." Then, he took the glass right out of my hand while I was still drinking it and poured the remaining wine down the drain before refilling my glass with the $12 wine. I was so shocked, I didn’t know how to respond and honestly felt violated. Later, I saw that an additional 25% tip had been added to the original charge on my credit card without my consent. I’ve lived in NYC a long time and am usually patient with bartenders, but this was the worst experience I’ve had in the city. I will never return, and I strongly suggest you don’t either. Mark my words—this place won’t last the year. Say hello to The Neverroom."
