The menu features an extensive selection of island and beach-inspired dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It seems breakfast is especially popular here, likely due to the area's upscale clientele. Families are also welcome, as there’s a dedicated kids' menu. After navigating the parking situation and enjoying some time in the beautiful Gulf of Mexico, RC Otters is the perfect place to satisfy your dining needs. **Famous Captiva Fish Chowder:** A delicious tomato-based recipe packed with fresh, savory seafood—rich, thick, and truly a treat! **Famous Black Beans ‘n’ Rice:** A local favorite, served with sour cream, sweet onions, salsa, and cheese, all resting in a rich tomato base. **Oysters on the Half Shell:** A half-dozen fresh, plump oysters are a must-try while enjoying your beach trip. **Steam ‘N’ Away:** A fantastic mixture of shrimp, oysters, clams, veggies, and potatoes steamed in broth. Although this was a special request not listed on the menu, the staff happily accommodated me. I would have preferred more seafood than veggies, but that’s just me—I’ve always had a hard time with my greens. **Crazy Crab Cake:** This jumbo delicacy comes with a tropical mango dip and features a nice crab-to-filler ratio, ensuring plenty of real crab in every bite. The mango dip is simply divine. **Any Fish You Wish Platter:** The fresh catch of the day (often Grouper) comes grilled, bronzed, or blackened. Just look at that portion! This is probably my favorite spot on Captiva. The service was exceptional, and the staff were incredibly friendly. While there isn't a view, the food surpasses that of any other restaurant I've visited. The shrimp was divine, featuring fantastic flavor and a light breading. Don't miss the sweet potato fries; definitely ask for caramel to dip them in. The crab cakes are also fantastic, with minimal filler and plenty of crab chunks. Food rating: 5 stars. Ver carta

I don't like being scammed! Make sure your order is unmistakable. I ordered 2 fried fish baskets.18.99 ea., when the bill came it was 57.98. I said there was an error and the server kept insisting we ordered the grouper basket. Since I actually pointed to the menu item when I ordered I knew what I ordered. She kept insisting otherwise. I paid the bill but I'll never be back. The 2 stars is only because the food wasn't bad, but nothing to write home about either. Beware!

We had another delightful evening at RC Otters this week. We first discovered this place back in 1999 while vacationing on Captiva, and now that we live on Sanibel, we visit RC Otters about every other week. The food is quite good—I'd recommend the seafood fajitas and the grouper Reuben. They've also got a couple of new servers who are very friendly and attentive. However, what really sets this place apart is its relaxed atmosphere and fantastic live music, making it one of our favorite spots. Our top pick is Pat McCune, who usually performs on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. He's an exceptional musician and songwriter, and he plays the 12-string guitar wonderfully.
