"I am deeply disappointed with my recent experience at Surf Rider Chesapeake. This used to be one of my favorite spots for fresh, quality seafood, but it’s clear that things have taken a turn for the worse. I ordered shrimp and clams with a side salad and broccoli. Shockingly, broccoli, which used to be a standard side, is now upcharged, with the excuse that it 's too big for one side. This just adds to the frustration of what followed. The salad I received looked absolutely unappetizing, as though it had been carelessly thrown together. It was served at room temperature with wilted greens—disgusting and far from the fresh, crisp salad I used to enjoy here. When I mentioned to the server that the salad didn’t look or taste fresh, she was rude and dismissive. She rushed off with it and returned abruptly with what appeared to be the exact same salad. This behavior raises serious concerns about food handling practices at this restaurant. It 's alarming to see the decline in service and food quality at Surf Rider Chesapeake. The management has clearly changed, and not for the better. The high turnover in staff is evident, especially when you see fliers soliciting employees hanging in the men’s room, which was also poorly maintained. At this point, Surf Rider is lucky if I don’t file a formal complaint with the local health department. This was once a place I loved for its fresh, quality food and fair prices, but I’m not sure I’ll be returning after this experience. Very disappointed."

Had the fried flounder which was really good and crab cakes delicious loved the fries. I also had Caesar salad with extra dressing I quite enjoyed Friendly service good people

Dietary restrictions: Bowl of plain pasta noodles and one potatoe cut up in fries.. glass of unsweetened tea$23.00... host was very rude when she came around to our table picking dishes up and answering questions. Never go there again

A Hampton roads staple since I was a kid. It’s always been the best no frills seafood in my opinion in the area. I was pleasantly surprised to come back in town having moved away recently, and visiting the Western Branch location at how spot on the food still is. While so many places the past few years have seemed to decline on quality and service, they still have kept the food constantly amazing. Great job Surfrider! ???

We went here for my father 's birthday and had a great experience! We had a relatively large party of 9 and the waitress did an awesome job and provided great service. On a personal note, my youngest daughter had her heart set on a dessert that they didn 't happen to have this particular day and it bummed her out. However, our waitress said, let 's see if we have anything similar in the back! . It turned out they did and she offered that to my daughter who was really excited for what the waitress found. It was a really kind gesture and really went the extra mile. The whole experience felt like a family meal and I 'm guessing that 's what they 're going for. We 'll definitely be back!
