"The food isn't going to knock your socks off. It's equivalent to what you'd get at similar places for similar prices. The Black Cat Cafe used to the home of A Taste of Britain and seems similar to that in some ways, but the emphasis is on cats now. To me the best thing about the BCC is how quiet it is. Even when it's full, you can converse with your companions at a normal level and be heard. The only downside is the lack of parking. If you get lucky, you might have a space right in front, but that's been the case for me only about a third of the time. The neighboring streets are permit parking only, but I'm told that if you're there for just a few hours you'll be all right."

They had decent options! Kind of pricey for vegan options, but it’s understandable. Plus they sometimes have kitties that need a home

Simple food, gluten-free options, cozy atmosphere. 80% of controls go to animal rescue. Servers are volunteers and work for tips. I love it!

Black Cat is very comfortable. I feel like i am in a friend’s home when I visit. The food and service are consistently good. I have introduced many friends to BC. All have enjoyed it and returned on their own. Ver carta

We had a reservation at 1pm. At 1:35 we had not been seated despite empty tables and the waitress was overheard saying do not seat anymore people . They stated they had two people call out sick. We ended up leaving. The place was very busy. Parking is terrible.

Wonderful atmosphere, cozy and quaint. Everything we ordered was first rate: coffee, crispy home fries, sausage, very light tasty pancakes, omelette, eggs, French toast. Our server was efficient and friendly. Good value for money spent, and 80% goes to cat rescue!

The service was horrible. Once we got our food we never saw the waitress again. The owner/manager obviously is stressed out regarding the people who foster for PALS but, it may be a good idea to NOT let the customers know and rant about it loudly. Oh, and i came to see and perhaps adopt a cat but there were none! Ver carta

Sorry, but when you are excited to have breakfast and want some of everything this just doesn't cut it. The pancake and French toast are acceptable, but the other dish looks like it was leftovers from someone else's meal. The tofu scramble arrived with two pieces of tofu. TWO! Went a couple days ago and got the Vegan Garfield sampler. It comes with one pancake, one piece of French toast, one sausage, one piece of temphe bacon, and a small serving of tofu scramble. It was nice to be able to sample all the vegan items on the menu in one sitting, but I think I'll just stick to the French toast next time. Loved the atmosphere and the kittens they had to adopt. Very cool idea

"Our waiter was an absolutely horrid man. I don’t know if he was having a bad night due to a personal experience but he was rude from the absolute start. It seemed like everything we asked for was a burden on him. I also didn’t like that we were sitting right next to where all the wait staff had to go to put in orders because he came over way too frequently. He didn’t let my husband order his stake the way he wanted. When my husband ordered the blue cheese butter he had the audacity to say “you won’t need it” but at least he let him get it. This guy also acted surprised when we asked for the bill and didn’t want to take food home. The only food left to take home was my food and it was all seafood. I never take seafood home and why does it matter so much to him? It’s like he had a personal stake in how we do things. I will say the sushi wasn’t great but my lobster bisque was fantastic and so was the lobster Mac and cheese. Unfortunately I just wasn’t particularly hungry so I didn’t eat much. Which should be something that’s okay with him because we are paying for it. He also shoved the dessert menu at us after I asked for the bill. Buddy, I didn’t finish 2/3’s of my dinner, why would I order dessert?? He was much nicer to the older diners across from us I noticed. I don’t know his name or I would absolutely call him out but that’s what happened to us. Unacceptable."
