"This review is a contradiction to itself... The service was great and incredibly slow. Some of the food was excellent and some just barely mediocre. We had a reservation at 5:45 they told us they couldn 't seat us at 5:15 or 5:30 even though more than 1/2 of the dining room was empty when we got there. Sure sign that they are short on staff but it must be in the kitchen because there were definitely enough waitstaff around. And although there were waitstaff around we barely saw our very friendly waitress. The owner was around and was very nice and accommodating with the kids and offered to make anything they wanted. I had the prime rib which was cooked to a perfect medium rare and tender but it had no flavor at all. The sweet carrots were the star of the plate. My husband had the rib eye and said it was just OK but again no flavor. My daughter had the bacon burger but it was a hockey puck and all she ate was the mashed potato side. My son had grilled chicken and their famous fries (as the owner said) the fries were the pre battered kind and nothing fancy and the chicken was just that a slab of grilled chicken breast. The fried green beans were good and the pretzels were perfect although the cheese sauce with them had no flavor. We took desserts to go and I am not sure why they called it bread pudding but it was just a hunk of hard bread. We like to support local but not sure we will make an effort to come back here."

"I recently stayed for a week at the Mountain View Grand Resort in New Hampshire, and it was an unforgettable experience.Pros:The views from both our room and the property in general were truly unmatched. Being nestled in the heart of the mountains provided a breathtaking backdrop throughout our stay. The llama experience was an absolute must-do; walking alongside these gentle creatures and enjoying breakfast afterward was a unique adventure. Axe throwing and visiting the farm with a variety of animals were also standout activities that added to the charm of the resort. The property itself was impeccably clean and accentuated its natural beauty. The Wine Cellar Restaurant was truly beautiful and a wonderful experience. We tried the bar, and the second restaurant, as well as room service and all was stellar!Cons:While the overall experience was nice there were a few areas that left something to be desired. The front desk service, in particular, was lacking. It felt as though we had to initiate every request, which, considering the substantial cost of our stay (few thousand) was somewhat disappointing. The rest of the staff (housekeeping, activities coordinator, bar and restaurant, and the porch employees were amazing, no complaints there) but the front desk staff truly need some hospitality training. When checking in they didn't offer a map of the premises (and it's a huge property) or schedule of the activities- I had to prompt them to give it to us and I had to ask for every add-on activity (times, price) because I researched them online, not because they offered. Had I not seen the llama experience or axe throwing we wouldn't have done it because we wouldn't have known. And truly all they had to do was provide us a paper they print with the daily activities (which they did once I asked). We were also not told about the spa or all its services (which we would've done) until the last day when it was too late. Additionally, the limited scheduling of certain activities was a bit restrictive. Axe throwing being available only once a day at 10 am and s'mores offered only three times a week, rather than nightly, made it challenging to fully enjoy these amenities. In conclusion, the Mountain View Grand Resort offers a stunning setting and spacious rooms with incredible views. However, there is room for improvement when it comes to the level of service and the availability of some activities. Despite these minor drawbacks, our overall experience was memorable, but unless they change their staff training we'd consider spending those 3 thousand dollars at the Mount Washington Resort down the road. The Mountain View Resort is a historic and beautiful property and their front desk staff should treat it as such and make guests feel valued and welcome, as well as enticed to take advantage of every amenity it has to offer."

"This was the worst service I have ever received by servers/waitstaff, or the man who took our order who may have been an owner or manager but was not wearing any form of mask or face covering. He was at-least friendly, the young female was very hurried and impatient with not only us but the other guests we overheard her interact with. One person asked about the specials and she did not seem sure what they were and did not give a real at description of the dishes at all.I used the restroom when we first arrived and before i was even sitting back down at the table the young female server asked what she could get us to eat. My partner told her I hadnt even had a chance to look at the menu yet but he ordered the poutine as an app for us. While I was in the restroom he ordered himself an adult beverage with the no-mask man but not a single beverage price was listed and when he asked they could not tell him a single price. I was never once asked if i needed anything to drink, and they left us alone for more than 45 mins with no servers in sight so I got my drink after our food had arrived. Which we waiting an extremely long time for. After the young female server came only that one time before I was given a chance to look at the menu we waited probably 20 mins before the no-mask man returned to take our order. I ordered a lobster roll and my partner ordered the lobster stuffed haddock, he then informed us they may not have lobster right now so we told him our back up order (baked haddock and a open face turkey sandwich for myself) and he promised to be back to let us know and ran off before i could ask for my drink. He never came back until at least 40 mins later and delivered our backup orders as no they did not have any lobster.... would have been nice to know... i deeply regretted my backup order as there was only dark meat on my sandwich with one tiny piece of white meat and it was all poorly textured...I give one star because i would probably give them one more shot because the poutine was yummy and my partner enjoyed his meal even tho he was off put that they stuffed his haddock with shrimp but charged him for the stuffed lobster which they did not even have.It seems what this restaurant is really lacking is adequate management and a more attentive service staff who check in on their tables... even just once! I also hope someone is enforcing mask wearing, who knows how lax they are being in the kitchen where we can not see our food being prepared if even staff on the floor is not following regulations. It was all very disappointing because at first impression upon walking in the place is very cute and seemed to have tons of potential as our new go-to local spot..."

"We’re very familiar with chef table style restaurants and to be honest, our experience was pretty disappointing. We were back in NH for a short time from Maui to visit family. We gave up time with them to sneak up solely to try this eatery. Maybe we caught chef at an off night but it would be fair to say, we wouldn’t go back or recommend it to anyone. The 3 stars is for ambiance, gluten free options, and wine selection. The food was sub-par. We got there later in the evening and the waitress took our order, she never informed us that the main dishes we had wanted were sold out (duck and scallops) until 15 minutes after ordering. We ordered our steak rare and it was delivered medium-well. We’re big fans of frais gras and that was also over cooked. I listened to the table next to us to hear if it was just our personal experience and they were brought the wrong first selection all together. We chose to have the wine pairings for the courses. There was no glass of wine while you wait for your first course, when our main course came, our wine glasses were empty, the waiter left and came back to check on the food but never offered to provide the wine pairing, I had to ask. There was also no wine pairing with dessert. In a wine cellar, there should be glasses of wine at every point, ESPECIALLY if you have guests willing to pay for each pairing offered! It may be true that this is rated a top spot in the White Mountains but overall, I’d rate is one of the lowest chef table experiences I’ve ever had."
