Central Family - Carte

Brought my 1 yr old granddaughter to the restaurant with my daughter. I've been coming here since I was a kid 40+ yrs ago. Waitress was great with assisting us with our lil one.

An off day. Restaurant almost empty, took over an hour to get a sandwich, bathroom unclean, staff communication by yelling to each other. Coming here since 1984, but I think I'll skip weekends from now on. Food was fine.

Didn't cook the orders properly. Steak and eggs. The steak boils over. Collect the wrong breakfast meat to me. underboiled the domestic pommes when they asked to be cooked hard. was not the waitress's mistake at all. The waitress was really friendly replaced the breakfast meat. Poor quality of food was not their fault. Place was full and much seemed happy. Just not my cup of tea. Voir le carte

I use a wheelchair and always call ahead to ensure there's suitable seating available. The staff on the phone were fantastic, explaining that there would be enough room for me and that my chair could fit. This was very reassuring for me, and they were incredibly kind and helpful. Unfortunately, due to timing, we weren't able to dine there this time, but we will definitely visit the next time we're in York, especially because of the wonderful interactions we had with their employees.

I yelped a breakfast spot close and found Central. Yelp reviews led me to a family friendly hole in the wall in what appeared to a be a downtown area of York, PA. We did have to make our way thru some off tilt humans to get there, but when inside, Central lived up to previous reviews. Our hostess was pleasant and the waitress was personable and efficient. The food was served hot, quickly and with grandma kitchen feel. Don 't judge a book by its cover make your way to Central if you are in the area. As I told the friends I was with; yelp never disappoints. I may not review every place I go to but this one, I told them, was worth a rip.

The staff here is incredibly friendly. I accidentally ordered a Buffalo steak (I saw a picture online that led me to believe it was a steak), but to my surprise, I was served a large hamburger patty shaped like a steak. My waitress, Ja-Tanya, gave me a sympathetic look and kindly brought me a Delmonico steak instead. The manager or owner even came out to check on how I was enjoying my meal. Their friendliness definitely earned them an extra star. The food is what you would expect from a typical small-town diner—not extraordinary, but decent. Here's the catch: while they serve breakfast until about 11 AM, the lunch and dinner menu—which boasts three pages of specials—is absolutely outstanding and available until closing. They offer an impressive selection of sandwiches, soups, salads, and seafood combos that you wouldn’t expect. I ordered a medium-rare cut of prime rib, which came with onion rings, mashed potatoes, a broccoli salad, and three fried jumbo shrimp—all for just $23! However, the real highlight was the locally sourced buffalo burger, cooked perfectly medium and served with a generous portion of crispy French fries. It made for a delicious dinner! We’ve visited this restaurant several times, and it never disappoints! We usually go for brunch on Sundays, and each time has been a pleasure. While the breakfast menu is smaller than expected, it offers all the classic favorites along with a few specials. I often opt for a lunch side, and I can’t recall a time I didn’t order the turkey and Swiss croissant sandwich. It’s absolutely delicious! The sandwich comes with a tasty bowl of soup on the side, and they typically offer at least three different soup varieties, all of which are wonderful. Since it was the last day of York's Restaurant Week, I decided to try one of their special offerings: the black and bleu buffalo burger. It was cooked perfectly and looked great on the plate. I think this dish should be added to the regular menu, though I realize they already have a lot of options. The price was reasonable too—just $12 for the burger and fries. The menu listed coleslaw as the side, but I received fries instead. While this is a minor issue, they should have at least informed me; I still would have ordered it, but servers should be fully transparent.
