We go about every other Friday, like any great place you may experience a wait. But David and his staff are always friendly and always great food and house salsa.

Oh, my God! The best Mexican food ever. The best Chili Rellenos I ever had on the Guacamole. Great staff and the owner come out and is very personal with everyone! Very recommended and my family and I love it!!!

I’ve passed by this place for over 26 years and never have tried it. That was until recently. My husband and I could eat Mexican all day everyday. We had the taco salad and pollo fundido. Absolutely amazing! So fresh and such an amazing and relaxing atmosphere!

The BEST Mexican Food in town!!! The atmosphere is so nice and enticing!! Every time I walk thru the door I always see a smiling face. Excellence service and great homemade spicy salsa chips to enjoy while looking at all the entrees they have to offer. I would put 6 stars but that wasn't an option!!! We started to visit this restaurant in the late 80s when we lived in Greenville... Hands down, the best Mexican cuisine ever and the Sangria...homemade and sooo good! We never had anything that wasn't brilliant! And everyone is super nice and friendly... the service excellent and the decor so juicy! We haven't lived in SC for many years, but every time we come back, this is the first place we visit! Feels like home!

The food was delicious and the service was very good! Everyone was very friendly and the owner came to the table and thanked us for coming. They brought my friend a dessert for her birthday. I have been eating at the El Matador not long after they opened at their first location. This is my favorite place to eat and I would eat more often it was closer as I live in Spartanburg. Thank you El Matador for the wonderful food and many good memories through the years!

I went to El Matador's restaurant since 1982. My parents took me there when I was a kid, and now I take my family. This place is not your usual restaurant. From 1968, this restaurant served as a kind of hidden treasure at Upstate, SC. David and his team are nothing but culinary genius. The atmosphere is original and it feels like at home. Salsa is dying because I know he is not imported or bought. David grows his own paprika and creates this wonderful taste I have enjoyed for years. They're doing everything out of the ground.
