"If you choose to dine here, be aware that if you reserve outdoor seating which was one of the options to choose from, the front desk hostess says it’s not guaranteed but only a request. If this was the case, why have that option to select from? I made this reservation 2 weeks ago so that we can have our out-of-town guests enjoy the outdoor San Diego scenery while having dinner and watching the fireworks. Not only was she unapologetic about it, she didn’t even offer us to wait for outdoor seating. We were put in the corner table furthest away from any sort of ventilation. Really? This was the best that you got? Our party of 6 got up and wanted to leave right away and when we were walking out, we noticed a table outside being cleaned. I quickly told the front hostess to call me when the next outdoor seating was available and good thing I did that or you would have lost our patronage to your restaurant. Who knows if any walk up party would have easily scored that table. Very disappointed in your reservation system!"

We eat here most times we visit San Diego. Usually a great experience but only if you sit outside. I side is noisy and not that unique. Worth the effort to go there. Voir le carte

Really good food cocktail menu could have been more expensive. Service was OK used to more attention given and more details about food. Overall experience was good not as good as the location in Hawaii.

Our server, Zach, was fantastic! Friendly, knowledgeable, and so fun! The lobster bisque is hands down the best anywhere. The Maui Wowie is my all time favorite salad. The filet’s were cooked to perfection. Roy’s continues to be our favorite neighborhood restaurant!

Always the best 4th of July viewing spot on the San Diego harbor! We shared the Maui Wowie salad, the lobster potstickers and the shrimp and shishito pepper tempura--all absolutely delicious! Zach was our server once again, and he is top notch! This place is always on our list of restaurants we must visit. They take such great care of us! Voir le carte

The worst restaurant I have been to in years. Waited almost 1 1/2 hours for an entree while trying to get to a pops concert Lousy service -terrible management . Best part -the bread service ! 15 dollars for 4 Hawaiian roles you buy at the store !!! What a rip Do yourself a favor -never darken the door of this terrible restaurant again I know I won’t go back ever again

We reserved at an outdoor seating and was seated inside next to “back of the house”. We heard the glasses, plates and other dishes rattling against each other. It took almost an hour for us to get appetizers, or food to be served. Quality of food was ok. Their rice was extremely dry which is a shame. This place was definitely overpriced, food did not meet its value. Customer service is ok. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

"Soichi is not our first Omakase experience, but it is the first one in San Diego that we have had. And what an amazing experience it was!Getting a reservation is key, especially if you want the bar. Our server was Marlon, and we told him we had just moved to SD and were celebrating our engagement anniversary. He was SO friendly and a willing conversationalist; we talked about everything from Ratatouille to the skeletal systems of the fish he was preparing. Not only that but Soichi himself also conversed with us and served us a little bit of sake. What a personality! Great presence, but humble and easy to talk to. The staff was amazing at welcoming us, taking care of us, and making sure we were enjoying our meal at every step. But if the staff was anything to appreciate, the food was even more spectacular. My husband and I have been together since college, so we’ve eaten Omakase in the Bay Area and Japan, but Soichi served us one of the best Omakase experiences on the West Coast. Our favorites were their black throated sea perch, amberjack, scallop, shrimp and fried shrimp head! , salmon, trigger fish, and golden eye red snapper; the snapper is so renowned that they sell a t-shirt of it, which we bought because we enjoyed it so much. All of the ingredients were presented beautifully — check the photos of you don’t believe me. But in addition to that, the fish was very fresh and prepared thoughtfully. The Omakase menu lets you really appreciated everything the seas of Japan have to offer. We paid for the $150 full experience, but added on two flights of sake $28 each flight for 3 different sakes and 4 additional nigiris each. It was a full meal! But we were so pleased with the service and care and quality of food that we ended up hanging around until we were the last customers in the restaurant. Soichi, this was our first visit but not our last.Big thanks to Lorena, Marlon, and Soichi himself for making tonight as special as it was. Our engagement anniversary could not have been better spent. Hoping to come back soon!"
