We had drinks and then dinner at the bar and found the whole experience to be excellent. The bartender, Amy, was full of anecdotes about the historical background of the drinks we ordered. The food was also fantastic. We all received cube-shaped bread before our meals, along with a flavorful butter that melted in our mouths. I ordered the raclette tartine and Parisian gnocchi with mushrooms, both of which were superb. My husband got the tuna tartare as a starter and similarly enjoyed it. Good ambiance and beautiful decor. Would definitely recommend!

The food is a tired menu from 1 1/2yrs ago. The same things were not as good, which makes me think they are using a sous chef to do the prep. I was here about 6 months ago and it was better but again the same food. Service was the biggest letdown. Previous service had a way of making the experience. This waitress was simply overmatched, and did not fit a quality dining establishment. What was worse was her annoying voice tone. Unfortunately she was the only service in the restaurant. along with an excellent busser who was here previously. Truly, he should be the server.

To start, we ordered raw oysters (a single variety instead of a mixed selection) served with mignonette and fermented hot sauce, along with a salad of roasted figs, pearl onions, and mustard greens. For our main courses, we sampled the risotto made with new potatoes, kaluga caviar, and chives; Parisian gnocchi paired with black trumpet mushrooms (which had an unpleasant taste and odor, with a thick crust that rendered it nearly inedible); foie gras with thyme; king crab complemented by persimmon, guanciale, and sorrel; and roasted scallops (which were slightly undercooked) served with brown butter, rosemary, and spruce. I had my first dining experience at this restaurant on Easter Sunday, and I couldn't have been happier with the staff. Our waiter, Jorden, was incredibly welcoming and ensured our table was well taken care of. The buffet was impressive, extending from the dining area all the way into the kitchen. I even had the chance to meet two of the chefs, Josh and Kevin, who are clearly passionate about their work and take great pride in their kitchen, staff, and the food they create. Lacroix is the main dining room of The Rittenhouse Hotel. I believe they offer elaborate multi-course fixed price dinners in the evening, although I only visited for breakfast at 7:15 a.m. on Saturday. I like the name Lacroix . It reminds me of the Parisian couturier Christian Lacroix. It also means The Cross in French. The hostess led me into the long, narrow and rather anonymous room and offered me a table upon which the sun was pouring in from the window. I told her I did not want to sit in the sun. My husband and I opted for the four-course prix fixe menu at $135 per person, which turned out to be a great deal and surprisingly well-priced. After enjoying some of the bread, I felt much better. The brioche was presented in a cube shape; while it could have been softer and more buttery inside, it was still enjoyable. For our first courses, we both had the salad. Each chicory leaf was carefully arranged, with slices of celery root and citrus layered in between, creating a perfect bite along with the soft, creamy cheese at the bottom.
