"Went to Johnny's Italian Steakhouse for a special occasion, and they did not disappoint us. They have a marvelous reputation for food quality, service, and dining atmosphere to enjoy your outing. They delivered on all accounts. Our waiter was professional, knowledgeable, and courteous. His recommendations were spot on, IMHO. My only issue was how cool the room was. It was very hot today, but it was a little too cool for me. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $30–50 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4"

"When we arrived for our reservation, I asked for a four top table instead of a booth. They only had booths. The booth had no tablecloth. After our party of four was seated, the hostess did not bring enough flatware for the foursome. We had to wait for our meals. The server was okay. The bar order was sloooooooowwwwww. It took 10 miunutes to get an Iced Tea and the cocktails were more like 15 minutes. This would have been understandable if the place had been busy, but they only had half of the dining room seated. The second of drinks arrived near the end of the dinner, with the exception of my wife 's wine which came after the meal was cleared. All of the appetizers are fried in the same oil that is used to fry the shellfish in and having a shellfish allergy that ruled out any aps for me. The Caeser Salad dressing was crummy. I ordered the 8oz beef filet medium rare. It came out medium well. The side was a baked potato which was the best part of the meal with the exception that the butter and sour cream was the size of quarter each. The dinner was so disappointing that we didn 't even think about ordering desert. When the reservation was made it was noted that we were celebrating a birthday. Nothing was done to acknowledge that my the restaurant staff. This was my second and last time ever dining at A.J. 's steakhouse."

"First off, they acknowledged us the moment my friend and I walked in the door, and even though they were busy, they were able to seat us in only a couple minutes. They had a wonderful selection of food and sauces, I had a burger with Mac n cheese and fries, and my friend had their brisket with a corn muffin, Mac n cheese and green beans. They were able to get the food to us extremely fast, we only waited about five minutes for everything. The portions were bigger than we expected for the price and tasted way better than we were expecting based on how quick they got everything to our table. Every server in this restaurant was extremely attentive and had wonderful attitudes and we could tell that everyone loved working there. Needless to say they exceeded our expectations and they will be where I go anytime I'm in the area and ready to eat."

"Place has Grade A beef. Will NOT disappoint. I am in Altoona for work training and this place was right in front of my hotel. The staff at the bar were great the bartender helped me navigate the menu like she butchered the cow her self. Had the sweet chili calamari, was a little over sauced but the sauce was so good. I'd recommend asking for light sauce or on the side but it comes sprinkled with red bell pepper strips which was so good never had anything like it. Then I had the 18 oz bone in ribeye with mashed taters and brown gravy and a side salad. I was not able to finish the potato's but the salad was good with the house dressing. Now...The Beef. Perfectly cooked to my rare liking, tasted so great and so tender it melted in my mouth. Chewy never even entered my mind. Finished the steak and was just too plum full for more than a couple bites of potatoes which I wish I could have ate more of. All in all little pricey but well worth it in my opinion. Rather spend it here than Texas road house down the street. Don't pass on this place. Will be back when I'm back in this area. Great service."

"I'm not sure if the $5.48 was just for the large drink or if that's the price added for choosing a combo, which is confusing. Now I'm curious what it would cost me to get just the sandwich and fries separately from the drink. The tax isn’t even a full dollar, so that can’t explain the extra charge. At most restaurants, ordering a combo is usually cheaper than getting everything separately. But here, it seems the opposite is true. They tack on an extra $5.50 just for adding a drink to make it a combo, which increases the total price compared to just ordering the sandwich and fries without a drink. Personally, I don’t think a large drink is worth $5.50."
