"Tuk Tuk Snack shop was all that and then some! We did not have a reservation when our family of four walked in at opening time. We have young kids so the earlier we feed them, the happier we all are. No reservation, no problem. Even though they were booked, they made space for us! The owner was there to greet us and she chatted with us throughout our time there. We learned that at Tuk Tuk, not only do they source their meats from local farms, but also happy farms where the animals are raised the way nature intended- no antibiotics, no hormones, not locked inside of barns. They are fed healthy diets and are outside getting good sun and grazing off the grass. This is of the utmost importance for our family as we strictly eat organic meats. So when dining out, if restaurants do not explicitly say they are organic, we eat vegetarian. At Tuk Tuk, we were able to happily eat from the meat selection off the menu. However, there are amazing vegetarian options as well. The experience was incredible and the food so delicious, we made reservations to come back- the very next day! We were given a beautiful table next to the living wall and the service was just as perfect as Day 1, with the owner walking around to chat us up as she did other customers. In the two days we dined there, we ordered the lentil fritters, the fried chicken sandwich, the rice bowl, the pork ribs, the fried chicken bites, the eggplant Parm, the 'not a pop tart ' apple fritter and the amazingly delicious bread pudding. Everything was made fresh with quality ingredients. All dishes were delicious! On rotation in this family will definitely be the lentil fritters, the rice bowl, the fried chicken sandwich, those pork ribs that fall off the bone with a soft tug of the teeth, and the bread pudding! We already can 't wait to go back! With reservations!"

loved the place and the food. I would strongly recommend people in Lexington to try the food. refreshing change to the food scene. The mango dessert was out of the world.

Another great dinner at Tuk Tuk Snack Shop! This is our favorite neighborhood restaurant. Everything we have tried has been amazing (especially the tomato pie, lentil fritters, rice bowls, and tomato toast). There are always wonderful vegetarian options

One star because the owner is childish and tries to “call people out” with ig post when they don’t like the review you leave. Then when you don’t take her side she will block you. Very immature and I can only believe the poor reviews are actually accurate

This is a great restaurant! I love how it mixes Sri Lankan and Southern cuisine together. I have never experienced this before. However, I feel like the food leans more toward Southern cuisine with a Sri Lankan twist. The atmosphere is great but has limited seating space. Voir le carte

Owner is incredibly rude and immature it is honestly shocking. She will also take negative reviews and post them on her account, mock them, respond rudely, and then block you. I thought this was just my experience but it looks like many other customers have had similar experiences. I look forward to seeing this review put on blast!

My friends and I visited for a brunch and everything was so good! Not only delicious, but unique and unexpected. I’m southern, so I know biscuits and gravy, but not like this! It felt adventurous to eat like this and I really enjoyed it. The chef (owner) came over to our table and spoke to us about the food, giving us more info and context about what we were eating and just generally making sure we were having a good time. I’ll be back!

Y'all. This is my new favorite trendy but casual place in Lexington. We came here for dinner. The food was delicious and came out fast. I recommend the curry bowl, seafood pasta, ribs, or deviled eggs. All of the drinks and dishes have a unique spin on them. The owner is WONDERFUL and waited on us and accommodated us on a Saturday night even though we didn't have a reservation. She answered all of our questions and we got to learn about Sri Lankan food/spices. Not a lot of seating but they do have indoor/outdoor tables. There are vegan and gluten free options. Easy parking because it's in a plaza. I hope this place sticks around. Check it out! Voir le carte

I say this as a person of Sri Lankan origin the flavors are absolutely authentic and full of life without being scary to those not as familiar with them, remind me of the cooking in my own home, and are put together with a really creative Southern twist. Very, very few chefs have this level of creativity, but just like our ancestors took other countries' foods and made them our own (lamprais, Chinese rolls, cutlets, malu paan are good examples), Sam is doing the same with Sri Lankan and Southern food. So privileged to be able to eat anything like this, and wish we lived closer so that we could come on a weekly basis. I also appreciate that she keeps her staff's well being and salaries top of...

Lexington, KY and the general central KY area have a much more diverse food scene now than when I moved there 9 years ago. Part of the success of many small ethnic eateries in the area have been the warmth of service and the demand for variety in an area that has had cultural homogeneity for a very long time. Given how lovingly my hundreds of friends in the area embrace and welcome new businesses serving diverse food, I was surprised to hear the restaurant was not doing so well. One look through their social media accounts and responses to Google reviews, and I understood the problem clearly. If their service was even half as dedicated as their attempts at snarky responses to dissatisfied cu...

"Update 8.20.22: One of the managers from Malones called me after reading my two-star review. He was courteous and apologized for our recent visit (read below . I wanted to update my review with FIVE stars. An establishment that cares for their customers deserves a pass now and then. We will be back. I’ve added some photos of some of our visits over the years along with the letter from corporate. Good job, Malones! Original review: First, let me start by saying we’ve been fans of Malone’s for over twenty years, and with four children, we’ve always counted it as a splurge, but Malone’s is their favorite restaurant to celebrate birthdays. We are always pleased with their exceptional service, every table having several waiters to help, and even the manager stopping by your table to check if you had a great experience. Last night, (8.13.22 our daughter was turning 21 and like usual, Malone’s was her choice, talking about it for weeks and planning what she would order. When our dinners arrived I was immediately surprised at how poorly plated my daughters twin filets looked. They were slapped on a plate, not cleaned up — gravy spread all over — making it look like it came straight from a frozen food box. Normally, we take photos of our choices but I didn’t even bother since her plate looked so unappetizing. Also, she ordered a baked potato that arrived on a separate plate, making it very awkward, switching from one large plate to another and so on. I was so sad for her. I’m not sure exactly what happened last night but it wasn’t what we expected AT ALL. Other issues — my husbands beer arrived midway through his meal, the birthday cookie dessert was melted (since the waiter set it on the hostess desk while he served water and bread to another table . We told him NUMEROUS times that we were NOT in a hurry so there was little need for him to bring the dessert with another tables drinks… it made no sense . Speaking of the waiter—despite the several snafus, we tipped correctly (20% , because we know hospitality is a difficult job, especially on a busy Friday evening. Having said that, he wore a larger mask, making it difficult to hear him in the loud dining area. He also wore kitchen food-grade gloves (the noisy, uncomfortable ones , and honestly, neither of those things bothered us. The issue was watching him fumble while wearing the gloves, pulling an open soy sauce bottle straight from his apron pocket — really? I declined the sauce. If he was so worried about germs, having the open bottle in his pocket is a red flag that being sanitary was not his main goal. The whole thing was just odd. If you’re going to wear a mask and gloves—fine—but choose a job in the restaurant where you aren’t expected to be heard or understood. The best part tho, I’m kidding, was going to the ladies room to find NO toilet paper —NONE—in either stall, and having to use the only two remaining seat covers as a waste paper. C’mon? The floors were wet and I’ve already broken a hip in my life so that was frustrating getting out of there. Was the food good, aside from the steak, yes, it was. Will we be back? I don’t think we will for a celebration. Which is sad. I hope this location can give us a better experience if we return. We were all just disappointed, and the manager would have known had they simply stopped by our table and asked. You know, like they usually do."
