"Our hostess/waitress was one of the best in Lake County. The atmosphere has all new artwork in the dining area, which is nice. Although there were two that had 1 eye, they were both looking at us. Little weird. The food was terrible. I ordered scallops in lemon and butter, vegetables, mashed potatoes, and gravy. The other 2 people with me ordered bacon wrapped filet mignon, salad with Italian dressing, vegetables, and chopped red potatoes. The Italian dressing was oil and watered down vinegar, no spices. Even the waitress went and tasted the dressing on her own accord when she saw they weren't eating it and came to our table to tell us she didn't like the dressing and offered to get something else. Our vegetables were sliced steamed carrots with no seasoning. The same goes for the red potatoes. The filets were charred marked and raw on the inside and tough. My mashed potatoes were a giant ice cream scoop of potatoes with a very thick brown sauce poured down one side. The presentation of all our food reminded me of a cafeteria style meal food just tossed on a plate. The appetizers were good chicken wings and potato skins. The drinks from the bar were good. One of us asked to speak with the manager about the food, and the manager listened but didn't seem to care. We all want every restaurant in Lake County to be great. Even good would be ok. When this restaurant was Howard's Grotto, the food was consistently good or decent. I will never go back to this restaurant for food again. Fast food is more appealing. I might go there to the bar side for a drink, maybe. To the owner, please get someone in there who can make good food and who knows how to plate the food. To the cook, taste the food before you decide to put it on the menu. We paid over $200 for the 3 of us, including 2 drinks each for 2 of us. I didn't want to pay for the food, but the waitress was so incredible that we just paid it. We won't go back, though."

"This is an edited review. I really hate giving less than 4 stars to any locally owned establishment. It must be a hard time to keep a business going these days but that doesn't mean you don't have to try to make good food or a good product. I am pregnant and I came in looking for something fresh and tasty. Figured even tho the Spot used to be known for their burgers that there's got to be a salad or a sandwich that could hit the spot. Well, the salads are pricey for what the choices and menu says, so I went with grilled chicken Pesto sandwich with side salad. Side salad had brown and wilted Lettuce, the chicken was overcooked, greasy and tough, way too much cheese and Pesto making the whole sandwich soggy and the bun held so much grease and oil that it was as flat as paper on the bottom. The once crisp Lettuce and tomato was completely wet and not edible. One of the worst sandwiches I have ever had. Service was extremely slow, they had one waitress/bartender/hostess/food runner working at Lunchtime on a Wednesday. Ice tea was old and couldn't drink it, and the water I got was in a tiny Dixie cup, I'm prego, a full glass of water wouldve been nice. My friends lemon drop was just bitter lemon, a ton of seeds and vodka, no simple syrup, no sugar rim, just ice water and vodka basically. His fries were ice cold. His tri tip sandwich was good however. This place used to be great 3 years ago but has let me down twice lately and is honestly a huge waste of time and money. Too bad options are slim and it's such a great location. I hope they set some standards for the food they send out soon. If the food was fresh and not overcooked, not greasy, and...edible... it would've been worth the long wait and the inexperinced bartending and poor service. review 3 years ago.... Amazing burgers, full bar, friendly and fast service, nice crowd, heat lamps for the outside patio, pet friendly. The Ultimate is arguably one of the best burger on the lake!"

"From the time we arrive, just the experience the way we were seated, directing and pointed to a table to sit at and left us sitting there for a while. Then returned to ask us if we wanted something to drink. His demeanor was like, “I don’t want to be here”. We were polite and placed our order of water. We waiting about 15 minutes before a waitress checked on us. Christine arrived. I guess they wanted to make sure we looked over the menu. I placed our order for ham omelette and the Louisiana hamburger. We received our order in a timely manner. As my wife was picking through her ham omelette, we were talking about it. It was loaded up with avocado and mushrooms and cut up pieces of meat which I assumed was ham. My wife as she picked through it, stated, this is bacon in here. It took a several attempts, waving my hand and verbally speaking out “oh waitress” to get the attention of the waitress. She came to the table, I stated my wife got the wrong omelette. She looked at it, stated you got the omelette you ordered, the bacon, avocado and mushrooms. We then proceeded to argue on what I ordered as other customers got entertained. She did offer to get the ham omelette or she could discount the bill. We chose the discount, which turned out to be she removed the order from the bill. I did not even get into the Louisiana burger with her which is suppose to have barbecue sauce per the menu. I won’t go back because I know what I ordered, and Christine, waitress, said it must of been a communication issue, because “I know what I heard, and that is you ordered the bacon, avocado and mushrooms” as the dispute unfolded."

"I ordered online and got there at the time it said. After waiting 5 minutes I went in and asked about my order. They said it doesn’t get made till I am there. If this is true, then why did I order online and wait 15 minutes to come down and wait another 15 min. The sign says someone will come out and no one did. When I went in I had to remind them to put items on that were on the receipt they were reading of of. They ran out of the cookies I had ordered and I told them at this point I don’t care just grab another one Nd they didn’t and shorted me the 1 cookie. I let them know they should contact corporate and fix the website saying food will not get started till you arrive and the person smarted off and said we don’t have anything with the website. This was a very poor service, customer experience and they need to follow there own rules on their own sign. Come out and great the customer when they pull up and let them know what is going on. Also the spot the have for the curbside service blocks their parking and turn around area for the other customers. People are getting worse service now than during the virus and wanting more money per hour. Wow hopefully this is not what we have to look forward to. Update After getting home my order was also wrong even though the guy read it off a receipt. Wrong bread on both sandwiches. Did not add anther cookie for the missing chocolate chip. Glad there is another Subway cause this one doesn’t seem to want business."

"My family and I went to buy sandwiches .. and snacks for an outing that proved to be HUGE MISTAKE! The deli staff Paul and white female) are two of the most incompetent individuals who have ever cut meat and cheese in a market. 8) when Paul finally acknowledged us and I told him what we wanted, and that I would wait patiently while he helped the 1 woman who was already there, and the other two very titled Caucasians who felt whether they were stiff in line and not waiting for all people... they would serve first. NOT TODAY! The Caucasian galley is running over and tells me they can't have an order for 8 sandwiches. They're busy and they're just two of them. I said you're kidding? She said it was basically a policy and we would have to propose. I immediately told her oh ok.... and went to customer services where a wonderful lady with dark hair and claws came to rescue. She said this was not true and went back to Deli with me and cracked the whip on these two stencils, brought another lady who are made sandwiches VERY Slowly) it was terrible! The manager came by and gave us three sandwiches for free I was wasting almost an hour in this store trying to get sandwiches, I would rather rent Safeway competent people and we pay. The sandwiches were not big and mine was placed on an old piece of Focaccia that I felt was made for purpose), that was not edible and I took off my vegetables and ate them with chips. Owen in the register was a cool guy. did his work and I really didn't feel a verdict from him. The great bear Caucasian man who stayed at the front end without a mask?!?! Was a useless presence because he did nothing else than talking and not wearing a mask and staring at people. I read another review where she spoke to Lady the shop and customer service because Lake Grafschaft is not a beautiful place at all... that's not okay! I'm not from there to just visit and spend my hard-earned money.... SAFEWAY should take care of his reputation where they build a new store! DO BETTER SAFEWAY... Your employees must be retrained and take lessons as they leave their bias in their personal space and not on Safeways dime!"
