"The food here is actually quite good. It *was* one of my favorite restaurants in the area. That's why I brought my family when they were in town for a day. We went as a party of 11, which is actually a pretty normal table size where we're from in South Texas (Latin families tend to be large). However, I do understand it's a lot of people when a restaurant is not prepared. My family and I arrived around 3:30 and the restaurant was pretty much empty. The host (who I assume was the manager) greeted us by asking if there were 42 of us. I said no, 11. He then proceeded to speak to us as if we were a group of children. In a scolding manner he said that *he* would serve us this time but he would recommend a reservation in the future. That's fine, it was an impromptu visit so I couldn't have made one this time, but I thought it would be fine in the future. The problem for me was that, while the server was more than kind and gracious, the host was absolutely rude to us the entire visit. And, for no reason. He made efforts to come to our table look at us with disdain, roll his eyes, sigh. I wanted to leave at that point. Since it was Notre Dame game day, most restaurants in Mishawaka were pretty empty, it would have been easy to find a place. But they were fine with staying. At one point the host brought my drink and, it seemed like to avoid making eye contact with anyone was looking away, the drink splashed all over the table--onto my 17 year old niece's hands and hair and my menu. The host did not even acknowledge it. I grabbed the drink from his hand and began to clean the mess and he watched me as he walked away. I have to emphasize that the restaurant was nearly empty. There was one table of two seated before us and a party about our size came in while we were eating. That was it. I would think the business would be welcome. It's hard to describe how humiliating it felt to be treated that way and to see my family treated that way. Again, for no reason. The majority of our interactions with the host were because he made a point to walk by our table, roll his eyes, sigh, stare angrily--just whatever he could do to make us uncomfortable. I really wish we would have left and I certainly won't be back. In fact, I'd suggested to my office manager to call that next week and request the restaurant cater a small department lunch where I work, and have since gone with a service on campus instead. Anyway, food is pretty decent but I'm really disappointed with the way my family and I were treated. I understand the man was upset--he made that very clear. He 100% could have (and should have) told us they couldn't serve us. However, he chose not to and instead decided to just make sure we felt uncomfortable the entire meal. As someone who's served in the past (at a much busier restaurant, I've handled more tables than the restaurant had that day on my own), I'm shocked at the lack of customer service here. And, as a human, I'm pretty disappointed at the way they treat other humans at this place."
