"Originally from the NY metro area, I hadn't had a traditional breakfast sandwich on a hard roll in over 10 years until today (back when I was not vegan and living in NYC). This experience took me back. I ordered a BEC and found the tempeh bacon to be a bit too salty for my taste. I'm not sure if it was just that batch or how they typically make it. The roll, however, was fantastic. My non-vegan husband couldn't stop raving about The Cool Cat (HEC hash brown). The pancake was thicker and denser, possibly made with whole grain, which didn't appeal to my 8-year-old, but the baked goods more than made up for it. The coffee cake was light and fluffy with a perfect crumb. The shop itself had many great qualities. They emphasized that being vegan is not only about animal rights but also about doing what's right for everyone and everything. The decor and affirmations on the walls promoted inclusivity and social causes such as Black Lives Matter, feminism, and body positivity. They mentioned their commitment to paying living wages and giving back to the community, as well as their focus on sustainability. They even had a section dedicated to Udder Chaos Farm Sanctuary merchandise and donations, with payments going directly to the sanctuary through Venmo. There was also a local coffee shop sharing the space. My 8-year-old had fun playing with a beautiful typewriter in a cozy nook, which came with a tutorial and paper for learning how to use it. While there was no indoor seating, there were picnic tables out front. Ordering in advance or on-site were options, but I wished online ordering was available, understanding there may be logistical and financial limitations. I would definitely return to support their mission, and the delicious food only sweetens the deal."
