"The young man who assisted us was friendly enough. I paid with my card and left a fair tip, as I always try to do. A few moments after we sat down, we overheard a tense conversation between him and a woman who appeared to be his supervisor. Shortly after, he approached us and said he hadn’t charged us enough. He asked me to return to the counter to pay the additional amount. I was somewhat surprised; while I understand that mistakes happen, I’ve never been asked to pay extra for an error made by an employee.
In my previous customer service roles, it would never have occurred to my employers to ask customers to cover a mistake made by their staff. Nevertheless, I paid the difference, although it felt quite unprofessional to make that request. The food itself was decent—nothing extraordinary, which has always been the case. My family and I have been coming here for over 15 years mainly for the good food, the varied menu, and the convenience of location, not to mention the generally pleasant service. Unfortunately, this last experience has changed my perspective. Moving forward, my family and I will look for other places when we crave teriyaki."
