"My only explanation for poor reviews is some people must be expecting either fine dining or The Olive Garden. Despite the plethora of Italian restaurants in the neighborhood, locals flock here. The regular menu is comforting and delicious. The specials, differing nightly, are divine. The cozy ambiance makes you want to stay with a pillow and blanket. And the staff is always pleasant and welcoming. If you 've ever been put off by owner Nicky 's sometimes aloof exterior, just think of him as your annoying big/little brother who punched you in the arm because he likes you."

Italian restaurant located close to Central Park. We've been there to have lunch on a Saturday, and the place was not crowded what was a relief. We've been quickly seated on a lovely table outside. Everything was great, really no complaints. We've had the limoncello and meatballs to start, and then the Pollo Parmigiana and the Fettuccine Carbonara all great. The manager was lovely with us the whole time.

None of the dishes we ordered are considered nyc good. It’s a family owned restaurant and they probably been in the neighborhood for a long time so I understand they have some pride, and you can see that from the waitress/manager lady’s way of talking. Unfortunately the food quality doesn’t justify it.In general this place feels like a “left behind”. If they ever want to catch up, they need to update their mindset and better the food. Horrible service!!!!! when we were waiting to be seated and the owner? directed us to the table on the street. Not under the temporary tent. It was outside someone else's store. We politely asked if we can sit inside the store since it was empty. This men immediately ignore us, walked away and give us a hand gesture. Obviously he doesn't want our business!! If you want to be in a business, learn how to treat your customer with respect and be nice!!!

Visiting from Canada staying at Hotel Beacon, this restaurant was a short walk from our hotel. We were looking for a nice sit down NYC experience and this cozy little Italian restaurant delivered. Truly a 5 star experience. We started with the famous saucy meatballs, shared the fettuccine carbonara and finished with salted caramel gelato. Everything was so fresh and delicious, seasoned and made to perfection, and the service was top notch. The atmosphere was cozy but lively. If we get back to this part of NYC in the future we’d definitely return.

"We went to Bread N Wine on a early Saturday afternoon for brunch. We were greeted and seated by the servers who were attentive. The food was okay the bread was really soft and fresh. My partner got the French Lentil Soup, Spinach and Tomato Egg Bake andI got the French onion soup, egg omelette with spicy tomato avocado and onions. I wasn 't happy with my omelette because thespicy just meant it was covered in hot sauce within. For beverages, we got chai lattes (we later found out it wasn 't tea basedbut rather coffee) and we had the option of oat milk, almond milk or regular milk. In terms of our overall experience we feltby the end too many things were steering the experience south; the worst was when we were accused of using counterfeit money topay for the tip. There was no special marker used to prove that the money was counterfeit or technology to back up this claim. That experience alone left a bad taste in our mouth as we left embarrassed by that claim, kind of shook from that, we stilladded the tip to our credit card 18%. As we walked out and talked about how weird that was, the owner of the business nextdoor overheard us and asked to see the $20 bill he showed us that our money was real and validated what we knew, that themoney wasn 't counterfeit. When we went back into Bread N Wine to discuss this there was no apology, just well, it felt thatway , shrug. It left a terrible feeling. We would not go back after that, this is not how you treat customers from start tofinish, hence the 2 star review."
