"We ordered takeout tonight, and unfortunately, the food was very disappointing. My husband and I tried the Bourbon chicken, Crunch roll, and honey wings with fried rice. The chicken was incredibly dry, as if it had been overcooked and then reheated. The honey wings were greasy and practically inedible, and the rice was also dry. To make matters worse, the sushi had a terrible smell and an even worse taste. I don’t know what went wrong tonight, as we have had good experiences here in the past. Maybe it was just an off night. We’re unsure if we will return, or if we should try coming during the day instead of for dinner. Either way, we were really let down."

"I must express my gratitude for the incredible meal I had at this restaurant. I wholeheartedly recommend it! The falafel, hummus, and grape leaves were all delicious and very authentic. The service was top-notch and I give a rating of 5 for both the food and service. The atmosphere was also very pleasant. I highly recommend trying the falafel and hummus when you visit this restaurant for lunch."

"I found this amazing restaurant about five years ago, and it has become one of my go-to spots for lunch or takeout for dinner. The meat is excellent, but the sides are absolutely extraordinary! You won't find better potato salad, coleslaw, or banana pudding anywhere! I tend to stick to my favorites, so I don’t try many other sides. The baked beans are decent, but not as good as mine. My only suggestion would be to offer half chickens for meals. The staff is really friendly, especially Tony!"

"This restaurant is easily overlooked. It doesn’t look like much, has a misleading name, but wow, is it a hidden gem! In my opinion, the best Italian food in the Mauldin/Simpsonville area. I had the eggplant parmigiana which was outstanding. Fresh eggplant, perfectly done with a delicious red sauce and just the right amount of cheese. It comes with a side of spaghetti with red sauce, as is common. In other Italian restaurants, I always skipped the pasta because it was just mediocre but here, I ate it all. Don’t bother ordering the cheesecake- unfortunately, it is not at all up to the same high standards as the hot food. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3"

"Wholy Smoke Family Restaurant accommodated my family in celebration of my Aunty 's 78th Surprise Birthday Gathering! We got down to what was almost the final hour of planning and had not finalized our plans for catering. We reached out to the owner James Hester and without hesitation he said, Let me see what we can do to help you! We are going to help you- I just need to make some calls and figure out the logistics but you all are going to be fine. We 've got you! And Boy was he right! Our guest list of 80 plus enjoyed every ounce of pulled pork chicken, ribs, macaroni cheese, baked beans, potato salad, all our sauces, and rolls. You know it 's good when you hear conversation across tables, Where did this food come from? Who cooked this? My goodness, this was a great idea to serve BBQ instead of your traditional banquet meal! So we are just appreciative for this locally family-owned restaurant. The pick-up was successful (and yes, delivery was an option) and the customer service was top tier! Thank you Wholy Smoke.
