A great, convenient getaway for a long weekend we played some tennis in the excellent indoor facility, swam in the fabulous indoor pool, had a great pedicure and sulfur bath though the baths were too small , and really good meals best at Prime 44 . Really nice conversations with great people at the main bar. Altogether, the old timers around the service staff were excellent and friendly. Concierge staff weren 't quite friendly enough in the way you 'd expect in this part of the world. Found a small glass shard in my wine glass the Manager was also not quite as friendly as you 'd expect. Tragically disappointing, not worth all the hype, and definitely NOT WORTH THE MONEY! Horrible rooms, yes they are “historic” but lack modern necessities like outlets and working air conditioning units designed to cool the space. The WiFi is shotty and slow, we had 100 lamps in our room all without switches, the ac didn’t go below 67 on the thermostat but the room never cooled below 70 and the outside temperature was 42. The staff was rude and un accommodative to my non-dairy preferences and there was no place to get coffee with non dairy before 7:00am then when I asked the main dining room for a latte to go you would’ve thought I committed murder but literally nothing else on the whole prop...

I cannot believe that with taxes, a “historical preservation fee”, and a resort fee, we paid over $600 per night to stay at this shabby, dirty resort. The carpet and furniture in our room was covered in stains, to the point we requested slippers to avoid walking on it. Housekeeping only remembered to bring one pair. The coffee cup lids in our room were covered in dust, and had clearly not been attended to for several guests-worth of stays. Cleanliness was a general concern. The fabric hanging over the indoor pool was covered in yellow and black stains. In the locker rooms, the curtains were yellowing and the towels were piled above my head- it had clearly not been cleaned throughout the day....

This review may be coming a little late, but I wanted to see if The Greenbrier was going to reach out. My wife and I went to The Greenbriar in the past for Thanksgiving, her birthday and New Years Eve. The first two trips went well. They seemed to under promise and over deliver. However, our trip there last year for New Years did not go great. I reached out to them twice about this and Roger in Guest Relations did not respond the first time and the second time all I was told was that he would relay this information to their leadership team.
