This was the only restaurant open in town, but the food was surprisingly good. There was just one person handling everything—cooking, serving, and even checking in guests for the Travelodge next door. I love diner fare. When I was driving across Kansas, this place called out to me. It is off the beatin' path. When I stopped by there was only one other customer. We had our choice of seating. Penny's had typical diner fare nothing to write home about. Just good old comfort food. Service seemed kind of slow. I got the impression there was just one guy working at the diner and he did it all waiter, cook, bus boy...
